In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.
My God there is finally a legit way of watching NZ Taskmaster on YT. Thank you to whomever was able to get these amazing shows here.
Technically you could have watched it on Channel 4, but... adverts. Very happy to see it's coming out this way too!

US has no Channel 4, so there was no way to watch watch here. So glad we can finally watch it!
same from Canada. we are in for a real treat with Angela
The look on Paul's face when everyone was listing their ingredients, realizing he was going to have to drink their concoctions, was hilarious.
It was Leigh's use of the leaf blower which made me settle down and accept that yes, this genuinely is Taskmaster.
@@qwertyTRiG that was the best moment of this episode! 🤣
This feels like stepping into an alternate universe. Not in a bad way.
They got the comedy of the original version
It'll never be as good as Greg and Alex but it's very good in its own right. Hosts are really really solid. Contestants are funny too.
UNKNOWN WHERE ELSE, BUT FIND KANGEN BEFALER. THINKIN TM BELGIUM...? ON THIS CHANNEL TOO. WHATS WITH THE CAPS?
sorry
Where Alex and Greg are handsome lol
That's a perfect way to describe it lol
Angela's robbery here was absolutely devastating. I had her at a clear 20 points, what a champion.
Completely agree with you like the meds was objectively funnier than the dental floss or the key to the city, her drink was an actual drink even if it didn’t have alcohol unlike Guy’s cocktail lol but i feel so upset that the Taskmaster is scoring her so low!
for real
She deserves so much more! And her meds couldn’t be lived without! That’s a fair PSA!
Angela’s awkward cringe is funny and endearing lol
@@jlab6969I think part of the problem is that the medications are a controlled substance… coming on a show giving those away to the person they aren’t prescribed for is technically illegal
Fun fact: Brynley was on the podcast, and revealed that her scout badges all reference moments from the original TM UK.
Oh that's adorable! Even worse that Jeremy referred to her outfit as Hitler youth. Not that I liked it to begin with...
Oh my god that is so cute!!! Do you know if she posted any close ups anywhere?
I took a look and none of the badges have anything to do with Taskmaster. They look like they were meant to be generic scout badges. A compass, a tent, a mountain, a bird (maybe dodo), a snowman, some generic feminist nonsense, a profile image of someone with white hair, a slice of watermelon, some yellow inside red, and a big red badge that reads "Feelings".
@@promontorium Completely ignoring the underpants being held out of a hole. The melon is from the first episode, the snowman is from season 3 ep 1, the dodo is from season 9 ep 1, and those are just the ones I immediately recognized. It's wild to assume that she's lying just because the badges are a bit vague.
@@promontorium adding to @Minetuber07's list - the "yellow inside red" is a lemon tower from season 6 episode 1, the "Feelings" badge is likely referencing the men's soap opera theme song from season 7 episode 6, and the tent could possibly be a reference to the live task from season 1 episode 1. The profile image is probably Greg (she knows him).
Leigh's ability to turn the bread task around from worst case scenario to best via technicality is the kinda stuff I watch this show for. Angella's bartending montage was also great & Sriracha the Squirrel was so cute!
Honestly yeah, that type of loophole-ing is the best part of taskmaster
@@admDanRyan Exactly!
Can't wait for more people to learn about the NZ version. Series 2 is deffo my favourite
S2 2 has the all time classic OG 'David Coreos Escape the Caravan' task 💕💕
@@DarkHarlequin that season has so many classic moments and five or six of them can be summarized as "David Coreos just has a minor breakdown" (including my favorites the knots, the can of beans, the caravan escape, and the diss rap)
@@evilgibsonI absolutely want another season. But they need to partner with something like Drop Out that would actually do it right!
NZ TM Season 2 is up there with the best of any of the UK series in my book. David and Guy are top tier all time contestants too.
@@evilgibson Yes. I like Reggie, but that was a trainwreck.
*SPOILER* for the final task.
I really love Angela's narrative arc in this episode. She started out pretty rough pointswise, and by end of the cocktail task she says, "I'm so used to seeing ones that this isn't a surprise", and it was feeling a bit of a downer.. only to have her blow everyone away on the final task, coming right out of the gate pretty much unassailably close to the target. Even though she didn't win the episode, that final task victory was very satisfying, and felt like a nice boost.
You can tell they are in the southern hemisphere by the fact that the lab door is on the other side.
It feels so odd not seeing the Fat Hawk or Little Alex Horne but, extremely excited to see this
You didn’t yell it high pitched enough. little alex horne!!
I feel like I'm in an alternate universe where the Taskmaster looks like a leaner, more refined John Cena and can't look away 🤣
You will love Paul. He is easily the best of the Assistants other than Little Alex Horne.
Right?! Don’t get me wrong, I’ve seen *LOTS* of clips from Taskmaster NZ, thus I’m warmed up to them a good bit and enjoy them both! However it is a bit of a weird shock mixed with a split second of confusion every time I see Jeremy and Paul instead of Greg and Alex. (I’m sure that feeling with go way eventually!)
Same. I've only seen UK and AU (haven't watched the others as subtitled, but getting around to it). I liked the duo on TMAU, but it's hard to beat the originals.
"Golden heed"
Now i understand where Rose Mataffeo's "sheed" comes from
A sHEDdd
I think beginning in season 2 they have a fush poster in the shid!
Shid.
10:14 smashed melon buffet = unintentional homage to UK Taskmaster first episode
I wouldn't be surprised if that's why they put it in the first episode. Obviously it's just fortunate that it happened but they can choose what episode to put the tasks in.
I love the reference either way
A wild Romesh Ranganethan appears
"You have two more attempts." "Don't need em." Love the confidence, and it was not misplaced.
I forgot how much I love Angela and Paul together.
Gotta say, the most exciting part about task master NZ being on the official channel is getting to read comments~
Weirdly, it’s become part of the experience for me, watching the other series
half the comments so far: "can't wait for season 2" .....
@@mremumerm yeah but I think that’s mostly just because above and beyond being the first episode of the series, it’s the first episode of TM NZ and s2 is pretty well known; I think probably the next episode will have a lot more about this season specifically
Speaking oooooof: Madeleine and Leigh are stand outs for me this season. Truly wild and hilarious takes on some of the tasks 😗
@@Nonplayer-character i know, and S2 is special, probably one of my top 3 season of TM, but it was just funny. I also think people forget that TM UK 1 also had growing pains of people trying to figure out their still, adding not wanting to be just a copy of TM UK- love that NZ insisted on having original tasks.
@mremumerm I don't think they insisted so much as the UK version insisted that they do original tasks. I feel like I heard it was contractual. Of course I think the UK version had the option to borrow task ideas from NZ, just not the other way around.
Jeremy is not my favorite taskmaster, but I adore Paul and the series in general--especially Series 2! This was a nice reminder of how much I love Paul and Angela's chemistry.
In this episode Jeremy sucks the air out of the room every time he speaks but Paul is perfect casting from the jump.
Completely agreed, not sure what his problem is, or if its cultural, or if it's just his (imo poor) interpretation of the taskmaster character.
I imagine he wants to imitate Greg to some extent, which is a really good dynamic for the taskmaster, it is just hard to pull off like Greg does. Hopefully he gets better and finds a more natural way to play it.@@djfreezingcold
@@StretchyPlays he bothered me less in later seasons. Not sure if he got better or my expectations are lower!
@@irisblue2332he grew into his own interpretation of the role, and started to play off of Paul better.
What's fun is that this episode has "first episode syndrom". New show, new series, everyone (public included) is still a bit shy. But it quickly evolves into something great :p
First episode of the OG did as well... until Tim broke the ice with "Reindeer Skull"
Thank you for this assurance! Was a little bit apprehensive after watching the first prize task, and the seemingly non existent chemistry between Jeremy & Paul, but seeing how greatly received from the other comments I can’t wait for the other episodes!
@@Ryanide07 If i'm being totally honest, Jeremy is not a good task master, he doesn't have the charisma nor the witt from Greg. However, Paul is an awesome double for Alex, he has a really deadpan punching-bag personality during the tasks that make him a pleasure to watch.
@@blitz3391He works well as a straight man because the NZ teams as a lot more bonkers than the GB teams.
NZ Taskmaster is the best country spinoff. The tasks are amazing, and some have even been incorporated into the main show! Jeremy doesn't have quite as much of the acerbic wit and enjoyment that Greg has, but is still pretty convincing as the Taskmaster. Paul, like Alex, is the heart of the show, though.
I've *heard* some of the Nordic spinoffs are pretty good too
Are later seasons better? Cause so far its way less good than the UK version. I dislike half the contestants, and Jeremy isn't funny, but Paul is great.
@@TheGrumbliestPuppy I particularly like Angella here, but I felt Season 2 was way better overall.
@@TheGrumbliestPuppyThis season started a bit rocky, doesn't help that most of us know none of the contestants, but by the end it's pretty good. Season 2, though, is imo the best TM season of all the TMs.
För me, Danish Taskmaster is still my favorite. Series 1 had me in tears the entire time, plus all the contestants were insane. 🤣
Lol fun fact, two people from this season were later in Season 2 of Our Flag Means Death; Madeline Sami is Archie, the new girl, and Paul Williams has a tiny role in the finale as the random dude Ed strangles in the rowboat! Poor guy 😂
I did not recognize Paul in ofmd... need to rewatch
Ooh, I thought that guy looked familiar. That is a fun fact!
I haven't gotten to S2 yet. Thanks for the heads up!
Omg! That is where I recognized her from!!!
and she was also in deadloch and played an Australian 🤯 I didn't realise she was from New Zealand so I was so surprised when I started watching this and saw her 😅
I remember watching this (completely legally of course) when it was first on. The first two or three episodes have really awkward studio dynamics, but it feels like they all went and got pissed together after those episodes and then for the rest of the series it really clicks.
That’s what’s I was thinking thank you for giving me the will to persevere :))
@@clara_hp6254 Yeah the studio segments get a lot better. Still don't think the Taskmaster is so entertaining but the contestants are great.
@theobreitenbach91 I didn't know that, it certainly explains a lot.
yeah, the studio segments arestilted to begin with but i'm so happy i persevered, and season 2 is a masterpiece
I'll give it a chance then, because this was really rough compared to the original. The seemingly constant laugh track is really off putting as well.
Amazing to have an actual legit way of watching this now! NZ has the best alternate version I've seen! Keeps just enough of the original charm mixed with their own brand of craziness to make it awesome!
Angela is legit my all time favorite contestant on any version of Taskmaster. If there’s ever a Taskmaster Olympics, I hope she’s a part of it!
“I don’t believe it said fancy on the task.”
“It did.”
Lmao
Have I watched this whole season already? Yes. Will I be watching it as it comes out on this channel? Also yes!
This is the first of many episodes of Angela being robbed by this taskmaster. She should have won the item round!
I didn't like how Jeremy self-righteously criticized her on air about the medications. Her statement about not being able to live without them underscores the importance of anxiety medications to people living with it. Does he have something against Angela? It made the rest of the show very uncomfortable to watch.
It seems like she should have scored highly in all the tasks, and was consistently robbed 😢
I'm going to be skipping the scoring parts so I can enjoy the show
@@jeffsmith5787He specifically said he didn’t like people playing fast and loose with prescription medications, basically “I don’t want to set a precedent by scoring what is probably actually the most important here, well, because it could be dangerous.”
He gave them their due respect. Didn’t criticize her for it at all.
@@jeffsmith5787 At first I was annoyed and uncomfortable by our Taskmaster's comments. However, I do think he was implying, "Hey, as much as these fit the theme, let's not go about giving our pharmaceuticals away to others." Didn't phrase it the best, didn't have the best tone, but maybe that's a cultural thing.
I need Jeremy to be harsher with zeros/disqualifications lol. Also, how did Angela score so low, she did well.
Taskmaster NZ is frankly the best international iteration from the original show. Jeremy and Paul's interactions is the best reflection of Greg and Alex's among the other imports. So much so that if there was an alternate universe that the Taskmaster brand started in NZ instead of the UK, i would believe it. Paul Williams is also the best Alex substitute so far.
Im just happy that we can now watch this officially on TH-cam and everyone can have a treat watching Angela.
PS. Paul has a music video around, and surprise! Rose Matafeo is dancing in it
Ohhh they are finally coming to YT. Nice 🤗 Excited for more people to see TM NZ (especially Season 2 - David is precious 😄).
Wish we had a Taskmaster series with the crowd favorites across ALL versions. Taskmaster Remix.
Or, a dystopian future, in the style of Black Mirror, Death Race, Running Man, where every country has it's own version, and the losers are executed, and the winners move up to the championship.
A top tier quintet among all versions. Guy and Laura were my favourites
"Top-up?" "Yes, please." *throws milk in Paul's face*
The fact that Leigh clearly has no recollection of filming any of the tasks is so unbelievably based
So excited for people to experience Angella and her dynamic with Paul throughout the season!
It's so uncomfortable and weird, and I love it.
I liked Paul from the start but when he made her undo the last dinosaur I knew he was born for this.
I'm so glad they're uploading TM NZ episodes. It's genuinely my favorite version of Taskmaster and I'm so glad more people are going to be able to see it.
For those of you new to Taskmaster NZ, you're in for quite the treat.
Season 2 is particularly fun
I've been following UK Taskmaster since 2020. Looking forward to finally watching the NZ version. I've heard nothing but praise.
Amazing that you're putting this on the official channel, what a treat.
Paul nailed the assistant role, I give Jeremy 2 points. And he can thank me for them!!!!
Does this mean Ed finally gets to talk about this series on the podcast?
It’s been on Channel 4’s streaming app in the UK for a while (Series 1-3) already. In any case he’s strongly implied that they’ll be covering NZ sometime next year
@@danielostrowski856 oh boy, another reason to rewatch the NZ seasons! 🍿
I hope he can get all the NZ contestants as guests and maybe even some of the team on. If it's only British guests discussing every episode it'll miss a lot. Also I would love to hear from the NZ/AU task writing team, they've been fantastic especially in recent seasons.
@bookymargoof he's already had some NZ contestants on for the UK seasons, but I really hope he talks to them about the NZ version!!
Ed has interviewed Paul williams on a podcast
for anyone who hasn’t seen this season yet- prepare to have a crush on at least one of the contestants (I literally love all of them) XD
Correct
But that's the case with every single series of Taskmaster.
Or on Paul!
@@Tempus_Fuckit true tbf but Bryn Guy and Mads all are so great ahahaha
@@Tempus_Fuckit Nobody in series 1,2,3,6,8,10,15 and 16
Just a heads up for people new to TMNZ, just embrace Jeremy's nonsensical scoring now, it'll make it easier to watch if you just accept he's not like Greg.
Greg's scoring is nonsensical to me too, so I'm used to it 😂
The first Taskmaster I've watched NOT having Greg Davis or Little Alex Horne, and I must say that this version pulls it off successfully!
I forgot how much I loved this series. Angela and Leigh are amazing in this. Everyone else is too. Excited to see the rest of the series. The Australian one isn’t bad too.
Really good tasks this episode! The sculptures turned out surprisingly beautiful and I was impressed with Leigh using the racket for the bread and fruit task. I agree with others in the comments saying that the group dynamic is a little awkward and there is a bit of a first episode feeling, but I’m happy to hear that they found their stride. I’m really looking forward to seeing more! Thanks again for uploading! ❤ I love Taskmaster!
Yes! Can’t wait till they do Series 2.
NZ Season 2 is my all time favorite
Omg you’ve bloody done it. Thank you❤ People will lose their minds once Season 2 is uploaded.
“Merely a reminder that New Zealand has eight people in it…”
Oh I love this, finally a legit way to watch TMNZ! I really hope they upload more of the international stuff, NZ is amazing but I need the world to know about the utter chaos that is TM Norway... It's so much fun.
They have some of TMNorway uploaded here, I'd love more! I think ppl having to have subtitles may lessen the views. I like that they include the meanings of sayings and cultural things they are referencing in the CC.
Norway is already here !
Maria Stavang is one of my chaotic spirit animals! 😂
Series 1 and 2 of TM Sweden are here and also Series 1 of TM Denmark.
The Ylvis brothers and the no blinking task.
Thank you to whoever made this happen!!!! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜 I’ve wanted to watch the international versions of taskmaster but I’m too stupid to figure out how to do it illegally. So now I can finally see it! 🤩
As I mentioned in another post - you can find a few series of TM Norway (i.e. "Kongen Befaler"), TM Sweden (i.e. "Bast i Test") and TM Denmark (i.e. "Stormester") under this Taskmaster TH-cam's Playlist section.
@@guyjackson132thanks bro I’m gonna check them out!
I am so happy this is being officially uploaded in a way I can watch!
After watching a few series of TMNZ, I feel like this is the perfect introduction to the show. You've got some crazy moments, a moment of out of the box thinking, a task with mean but funny twists, and each person's personality shows. Also, you get the more cheerful attitude TMNZ has over the UK version.
While I prefer Greg Davies' burning arrogance, I do like how much more chill the NZ version seems to be.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Zealanders
Been waiting for so long to watch the official version. Angela’s prize task was so on point.
You've seen the video which clipped out just Angela's prizes.
@@qwertyTRiG I watched the bootleg version of the NZ show.
It’s strange to see two broadly-drawn personas, which have been seamlessly adopted by two comedians, here acted out and fleshed out in different ways - but still within a pretty strict set of parameters - by two other comedians of entirely different sensibilities. I think I like the gentler dynamic here.
Let me make this promise to anyone who hasn't seen the NZ Taskmaster.
Series 2 is a runner for the most chaotic Taskmaster group. Out of every single version.
Enjoy series 1 and wait with bated breath for series 2. It's a *ride* .
David Correos probably has more energy packed into a single person than some of the UK season casts and it’s glorious
💯
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!! I am thrilled to be able to watch the amazing TMNZ on the TM Channel! Thank you to all of the powers that be for making this possible! I wish I could forget I’ve already seen it, and watch it again for the very first time! 🎉🎉🎉
Yes! So glad more people get to see the hands-down best adaptation at last! And a convenient excuse to re-rewatch it!
Thank you, Taskmaster channel, for finally uploading TMNZ ! Finally, a legal way to watch one of the greatest international adaptations of the show.
I especially can't wait for Season 2 to be uploaded, partly so I can relive David's murderous rap skillz and Laura's Palmy Army ad. 😂
Thank you! I absolutely love Taskmaster NZ! Such a great and wonderful version of our beloved show. Paul‘s energy is magnificent! 💗 And season 2 is insane fun 👏
I’m not sold on Jeremy as Taskmaster, but Paul has definitely won me over already.
The only version of the show that carries a similar tone and excitement as the original. Great that they're uploading all the episodes of Series 1 on YT
TM Australia is great too.
Norway does a good job. The contestants are probably the most insane of all the versions I watched and they have a distinct lack of health and safety rules.
I’m so happy the NZ episodes are being shown here. I needed something to fill the gap between the UK series. Thank you!
Looove Taskmaster NZ! Super happy it's gonna be posted on the official TM channel and more people will get to experience it
I've literally just been watching clips trying to pieces the NZ seasons together so this is exciting!
Hooray for Taskmaster, New Zealand! I cannot wait to watch war of this amazing series, I think Angela is my favorite to start off with.
Excited to be able to support this show in a legit way other than flying to NZ for a taping (which i also did). I also just realized that Guy's cocktail gives a real Pinot Noir song from "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" vibes ~
Just stopping to say I recognised your name from the Horne Section dingle! Hello fellow fan :)
Angela’s wearing a absolutely beautiful dress this episode, wow!
The fact that Jeremy did not give Angela 5 points for bringing her freaking anxiety meds is straight criminal.
As a person with anxiety, it sucks but you can live without the medication.
One of the best series in Taskmaster history. Paul is a treat.
Jeremy has it out for Angela. The medications were gold, the torso sculpture was awesome and fidnt break any rules, her cocktail was simple but those camera shots were fancy af. This dudes a chode for real
aw yes! loved the NZ version even if Jeremy doesn't really have the same charismatic banter-bility... But Paul Williams is a genuinely fantastic TM Assistant
The chemistry of this group of contestants was great to see
It helps when you all know each other/their families/live next door to each other. Common factor in NZ 😂
Angela should’ve gotten way more points. Her sculpture and her drink were good
Watched all of season 2 through -means unknown- bc of Guy Montgomery but never got around to S1. So glad it's on the official channel ! This cast seems so great already!
To be fair not all cocktails technically have to be drinks. I can think of two non-drink cocktails in America, can't say for sure if the phrasing is the same in NZ. Fruit cocktail, a mix of tinned fruits, usually including: pineapple, peaches, grapes, cherries, and pear. Then you can also a cocktail of drugs to describe multiple medications used in conjunction to treat an ailment. Oh! and prawn cocktail! that's certainly not a drink
2:29 No it was the minimal audience that reminded me New Zealand has about 8 people in it.
That's part of why Guy has such huge hype energy throughout the season!
this was filmed in 2020, briefly after nz came out of its first major lockdown
The crowd is a bit to small 😬
This was filmed during Covid restrictions.
Love it, I'm going to sit tight for series 2
Series 2 is a little better and a little more chaotic
@@jakobsynn8570I've seen the clips!

Love Taskmaster NZ. Glad to see you are posting them.
Oh please tell me the entire season is going up. The first 2 seasons of NZ TM are some of the best out there.
If I had a nickel for every time someone smashed a watermelon in the first episode of Taskmaster I’d have 2 nickels but it’s weird that it happened twice
I urge you to pay attention to Angella Dravid, one of the most dry-wit contestants on any version of Taskmaster (I can draw parallels between her style and Katy Wix).
I've not seen any of the NZ seasons, but I'm getting major Rhod Gilbert vibes from Lee. Very entertaining first episode, looking forward to the rest!
After only watching the origianl this feels like a fever dream

It is different, but good different. I also like that they use meters and centimeters I am always so confused by feet and I dont know what other measurements does UK have, but this is a good change :D.
Also Paul Williams is such a good TM assistant, like wow, I did not expect that. And I love the sibling dynamic between him and Guy.
