- Welcome everyone to the third installment of the Legacy Era Mini Marathon! I'm very excited to share this with all of you as it turned into a real fun match the more I analyzed the two characters. Plo Koon has been one of those characters you all have wanted to see me use so hopefully you feel I did the character justice. As for Shado he's just very cool and a combatant I've always found fascinating. But anyways, without further ado I present, The Kel Dor Vs. The Twi'lek.... Plo Koon Vs Shado Vao

@Greensaber- Gemini. Oh no no, I agree that Caedus beats Windu, for sure. What I meant is, I disagree on Shado beating Plo. His age is kind of a negligible factor, as he has so many more Force powers at his disposal and knows how to integrate them while swordfighting.
Legacy is easily my favorite Star Wars era, and Shado Vao is one of my favorite characters of that time period. Your analysis here is spot on, and thanks for the shoutout bro lol. Always love talking VS matchups with you. Such a fun, and dynamic VS with two dominant Jedi Masters.
The Legacy era is really not even that good. Sure, it’s better than any of the shit Disney has given us in this “new canon” but it’s still the least awesome era in the old “legends” timeline (well, maybe except for the early New Republic years, the bantam spectra novels era).
And no, it’s not spot on. In no universe is Shado Vao on the same level as Plo Koon in like any field. The prequel/clone wars era Jedi are the peak Jedi of any era, especially in terms of martial prowess and dueling ability. Period. Lucas and other Lucasfilm officials have literally said that themselves more than once. And not to mention, Plo Koon has literally bested Yoda before; the only Jedi-the only known being period-to ever do so.. And Shado Vao wouldn’t even be able to touch Yoda.. Not to mention he’s also wholly stronger in the force than anyone in the entire “Legacy” era except for Cade and Krayt..
YEAHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Anyways, I’ve been looking forward to this. As sad as it is to see one of my favorite masters lose, this was still incredibly well done, and Shado always did strike me as an interesting and powerful character when I read Legacy vol 1. Well done Rob :)

This was a fantastic vs series video, i especially liked your analysis on Vao.
Watching this more thoroughly again, I disagree with the verdict. Much like someone else said, you stressed a bit too much on Plo's age, when it rarely presented itself as an issue unless he was struck hard to the point of breaking bones. While Shado is a very good fighter, there's nothing about him that would suggest him being such a heavy hitter. And Plo has great versatility in his use of the Force and powers at his disposal, unlike Shado. While he would definetely give Plo a hard fight, there's not enough to suggest he would be overwhelmed.
Man you got a few VS but the ones you do are so fkin interesting , nice job :D

@@yrooxrksvi7142 Kylo Ren’s loss was to Rey’s plot armor. He was a tall, athletic, well-conditioned Jedi from the Skywalker bloodline. He was trained by Luke. Darth Caedus had identical ancestry. Kylo Ren seemed to be able to perform advanced force feats. Bad writing doesn’t equal low power.
We never DID learn what Kylo’s father issues were. His Dad was a war hero and renowned smuggler. Part of the most elite team of galactic heroes since Obi-Wan,Anakin, and Ahsoka. The man who was brave enough to take a shot a Darth Vader himself on Cloud City. Being married to a high-profile politician, later “outed” as Darth Vader’s daughter, can wreck any family. Especially when your son’s inner “Darth” starts showing, and Palpatine has been screwing with his head via proxy.

What advanced force feats? All kylo has been shown able to do is telekinesis or the jedi mind trick, which any jedi or sith worth their salt or midichlorian is able to do, since its both a jedi and sith standard, and force stun, which while it is a rare and advanced force ability, kylo's use of it is pathetic and inconsistent. Darth malak and any other jedi or sith could use the ability to stun multiple targets and with much better efficiency than kylo. Beyond that, kylo's only other ability is force choke, which is already a dark side standard. Again, kylo's use of it is raw, basic, isn't anything special, and he doesn't even apply his force abilities in battle, much less at all. It's worse than any jedi or sith out there. Even Savage Opress is better than him.
Adding to this is kylo's lightsaber skills. He's a sloppy, clumsy djem so specialist who couldn't even defeat a girl with minimal training.
If I honestly had to rate him, Kylo's a mediocre tier 5 on the tier list
The way you have described Shado's fighting style, I would think that he would have been a Niman practitioner. Was that ever a consideration?

On Comicvine, I noticed they credit Shado with Plant Surge as he supposedly tangled Cade's ankle with a vine. Did you choose to ignore it on purpose as you felt it was too speculative ?
I am sure luminara didn’t take part in the stark hyperspace war.. and plo would not lose when he can deploy his lightning and malacia and throw in nimble, agile jumps and dodges when needed. People often call him slow and overly stationary/grounded but that aint always the case, he can be very quick if he needed to, if the situation called for it. He was restrained with his abilities but not because he was unwilling to use them!
Jedi knight Revan (just after killing mandalore) vs general skywalker (after killing dooku) the two heroes of their respective wars flirting with the dark side but before each fall fully!
Vao was likely a master of Form 6 (Niman)

In NO universe is Shado Vao even remotely on the same level as Plo Koon as a duelist, let alone his superior. Listen, YOUR headcanon is not Star Wars; Plo Koon is the only Jedi to ever best Yoda in a duel. Shado Vao would get clapped by Yoda and it’s not even debatable…. Every one of the legacy era force users besides Cade and Krayt are completely overrated.
