Old distorted astropathic summons, so they are basically trying to answer Dante's call to arms to defend the Baal against Hive fleet Leviathan. Although the battle is already over, I love small details like this. Makes you realise how big and convoluted the Imperium is. And how much the Cicatrix Maledictum have messed up everything.
With time fuckery the devastation of baal is still on going. What was only a couple of months on baal was decades on the safe side of the rift. With the last retcon, the battle for vigilus is before guiliman reaching baal

Also any chapter on the Imperium Sanctus would surely have received reinforcements before crossing over to Imperium Nihilus? Also the whole timeline getting turned on its ass after GW did that massive lore blunder in 8th 😅

In devastation of baal, something like 70 years had passed since Dante sent out the call to the rest of the imperium; although I suspect that will be changed to around 20 years to fit with the new time-line.
Honestly when I heard about the wardens of the gauntlet it would have been a good way to put a little bit more on the lamenters sense recently it just says they got primaris reinforcements that's it for there lore as of now also the name wardens of the gauntlet just makes me think of a type of knights of the round table type order
Sounds very similar to the situation of the Maelstrom Wardens. They were a group of Astartes chapters charged with defending against threats from the Maelstrom and consisted of the Lamenters, Mantis Warriors and, of course, the Astral Claws. I wonder if it will end the same way.
The Maelstrom Wardens went renegade because they were treated like shit by the high lords. It's not gonna happen to these guys with Rowboat Gorillaman in charge
Hopefully the Senatorum doesn't repeat the mistakes that they did with the Maelstrom Warderes. Otherwise, get ready for Badab War II: Electric Boogaloo

It’s good to see that the sable knights alive and well are alive with so many chapters of the blood being driven to near or actual extinction hearing about one popping up is a singe of good fortune.

The Angels of Defiance have captivated me for some reason. Between their colors, their heritage, and what is presumably their warcry, the Angels of Defiance just seem so interesting to me. I really hope GWs writers flesh them out a little more.
I absolutely love this fluff. I've been working on a similar relationship with a group of chapters I call the Honorbound in a region of space called the Gorian Reach.
Sadly, GW apparently sees it as not possible to include such fluffy armies in the game balancing and has forbidden us different sub-factions in one army -.-. I love such armies.
Lucky for my group of friends we don't care what gw said about sub factions, and I plan to make a themes force based on the wardens of the gauntlet. It also works as I play black Templars. I also plan to paint my black temps with red gauntlet to show there time spent in the wardens.
I wish we could pay less money for just the lore and vice versa for the rules. Don't play 40k competitively anymore, but I like keeping up with the narrative. I get why competitive players hate the idea of seasons, but from a narrative standpoint I'm excited. separating the rules and the lore at lower prices would make everyone a little happier and while I'm wishlisting it'd be perfect if they were digital.
So, the Imperium is trying to win on Vigilus, but they withdrew most of the UM? There's a RL military concept called 'overwhelming force.' If you have an exorbitant amount of resources in one combat zone, it's cheaper and more efficient to use all of it to push thru to that objective before moving off to the next. If there's an emergency somewhere else, and you have other military assets on the move (which the Imperium certainly does), you route unengaged assets there while you finish your objective you are engaged in. Then you bolster your forces at the newest engagement. Lazy writing by GW.
Yeah GW still hasn’t bothered to read up on how functional militaries actually work. Which is fine for a Grimderp setting, just don’t think about it too hard. They haven’t.

Warp Storms are weird. They might have been going elsewhere and got yeeted out here. Maybe they’ve gone back in time and they’re from a later version of tbe chapter. Maybe it’s a misplaced Crusade. Lot of possibilities
Well, Vigilus is literally one of the most important regions of space. It’s one of the few safe routes through the cicatrix maledictum, chaos want’s it to burn, and the imperium needs it. Basically one of the most strategically important regions of space in the whole imperium
I hope they won't re-write Devastation of Baal. I don't think they need too. They were able to fit the great work into the new time-line; so I hope they do the same with DOB.

Maybe they'll find a relic that would be enough for now. Vulkans return just hasn't been built up enough for it to be this edition.
