The HW35e , it was my first air rifle , at the age of 13 years old ... Made my arms ache by the end of the day
Now , at the age of 55 , your video has inspired me to get this particular model
Picking it up tomorrow ... Cheers 👍🏻

Like you I'm also 55 and enjoy shooting some the simplicity of a good well made Springer sends you back like a time machine to the early days when field craft and skill was paramount to hunting success it can sometimes be forgotten with new PCP hunting enjoy every pellet .

      Yep ... something about a Springer isn't there , they're more " alive " so to speak
I've got 3 pcp's ( all great rifles ) and 1 break barrel Springer ... Soon to be another to the collection , can't wait 👍🏻

I’m obsessed with weihrauch I have many of their rifles my first rifle as a lad were the hw25 junior many years ago… that my dad brought me… I also have theobens, falcons, air arms bsa’s and I have been shooting/hunting since the age of 4 maybe 5 years old and it is a massive part of my life and passion for me… I can fully connect to your story and how you were emotionally effected… that rifle is an absolutely stunning piece of engineering and I hope it manages to stop many rabbits and other game for you my friend fair play to ya

Lee, I was given a rusty HW35 (rescued from an old, former coal place), turned it into what a mate refers to as a 'white gun', i.e silver barrel and action by removing all rust and bluing but kept new sights(bought from Aaron Wheeler in Brighouse) and thumb-lever, bolt and trigger guard in original black for contrast. Spent a huge amount of time restoring the abused stock to a blonde finish. Got the delrin tuning parts from the 'Tinbum' chap which solved the twanging and a new Weihrauch spring from Chambers gunsmiths. She is now beautiful and I've named her Marlene after ms Dietrich the other German blonde. Oh! and despite my having and using an Air Arms PCP for years, it was Marlene that really taught me to shoot, bless her. I'd like to send you her portrait but that's difficult - don't use Facebook, Instagram etc etc, all the best Mike

The best springer for hunting. Just put on sling mounts. Non of my springers has a silencer. Just b.s to have a silencer on a springer. Cheers!

Very nice indeed. The fact that you always wanted the HW35 and now you have a special edition one which was an unexpected gift from your wife, plus the colour coordination, it was obviously meant to be! Thanks for sharing and for your most recent showing the old Webley (nice restoration btw) and your Benjamin PCP.

Thank you for your comment I like restoring air rifles and have done for a lot of years it's a practise that will never make me rich in fact I'm sometimes out of pocket but like to see them looking smart again as for the weihrauch 35 I enjoy every second shooting her the gun not the wife ha ha.

@@leesmith3081 Great job on the stock, I honestly can't tell it was repaired. You were right to focus on the wood and leave the original bluing with some character. Older webleys were given some of the best bluing or so I've heard. Best not, or she won't be buying you any more nice guns.

Lee, I have two HW35's one a standard model from 1977 and an Export model from 1987 both in .22 cal.
These are dedicated sub 12 ft lbs air rifles and perform as such with minimal recoil and a fast shot cycle. Go ahead and open your rifle and apply moly grease to the spring and guide which will quieten the internals. Many thanks for your video and a mighty fine rifle you have there!
PS. Remember to apply a dab if grease to the barrel lock to prevent it wearing a groove in the breach face.

    • @leesmith3081
      @leesmith3081  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I couldn't resist it anymore I opened her up she wasn't pushing out 10 ftlbs swapped the 97 spring they now put in the 35 and popped tbt tunning kit in with the original 35 main spring cut 1 and a half coils off compressed two coils at one end under heat so not to make it coil bound added a small weight at the piston and and two slip washers at the guide end went liberal with the grease and she is running at 10.8 with h and n pellets 10.3 with aa field so smooth to cock and shoots like a dream hardly any recoil just right still capable of dropping a rabbit at forty yards no problem

@@leesmith3081 Well done, Lee. 10.8 is perfect for these rifles. I use JSB RS 13.43 grain and I get just over 11 ft lbs in my Export Model. I put a 3mm wire diameter mainspring in it and it cocks and fires very smoothly indeed. I suspect yours will hit the 11 ft lbs mark with JSB RS.

@@leesmith3081 Hi Lee, I've only tried one type of pellet at the moment and that's the pellet my HW 97 likes, its the JSB Exact Diabolo 8.44 grain. I'm hitting targets at 50 yards with no problem. If you want to hit hard and fast use the H&N Hornet's I've tried a couple of those through the rifle and the damage at impact is a lot higher. I'm still putting the Hw 35 through different tests but I'm absolutely loving it.

Regarding the hawke airmax scope on my weihrauch hw35 the scope has everything that is needed for a rifle of this standard it's clear not too heavy and just the right size and for the money a bargain I've never had a problem with Hawke scopes some people expect the same quality as a scope twice the price I've always found them great value .😊

Hi John Caban the stock on the special edition weihrauch hw 35 is the same as the standard one and is right handed but left handed shooters should have no problems because it's got a nice flat top edge to the cheek piece ,regarding the power it's running at eleven point two foot pounds energy and it's in 22 calibre hope that helps with your decision making lovely rifle to own and cherish thanks for your comment take care .

The modern HW spring guide is as good as any aftermarket, the piston is already sleeved!
Good top hat and roughly half inch taken off the guide length, coil removed and both ends polished and it will be a dream to shoot, I bough number 5 and 6 of 215, if you put a top hat on without removing a coil it will shoot over 12fpe. Not good.
