I'm still pissed that it beat out both The Stanley Parable and Papers Please, both had a waaaaayyy better narrative than the lesbian, cheating dad bullshit that was Gone Home.

***** I think it was simply overhyped, and I'm probably not the only one. It wasn't bad, but it didn't really deserve the "game of the year" title, The story was too short and the online is simply a grinding MMO with very little variety. I really hope for a PC release though.
***** The fact you want a PC release for GTA 5, means you played the game, loved it and you want to buy another copy on pc.

Gta isnt over rated. Its one of the best franchises ever. Just because the game sold well and is almost perfect it doesnt mean its bad the game lived up to its expectations.

i got TLOU and ITS a good game with good visuals and characters... but GTA it´s a game with much more work on it.
Naughty Dog actually put in some effort with The Last of Us with an actual storyline, great characters, and innovative gameplay. Grand Theft Auto 5 is the same shit except you get to play as 3 guys (ouuu gtfo), and the world is bigger, other than that it's the same mindless crap Rockstar has been pumping out for the past decade (RD Series included)
i don´t care if they do "the same" because they´ve the best physics, Euphoria, great gameplay, details everywhere... they don´t do COPY + PASTE like COD only to sell...

Did they not even bother having an audience or anyhting this year? Last year it was like an actual award show with a huge live audience and Sam Jackson along with even a live band (Tenacious D).
This year it seemed so ...low key and very cheaply made, like people filming it in their garage or something.
I attended the 2011 one and it was a lot of fun. This just looks disappointing.
it strangely reminds some cheap tv commercials or that "plot" that porn movies have.

You're just calling it overrated because everyone else is for no complete reason. It's BioShock, there's nothing overrated about it. It has a good story, the game-play is good, the graphics are fine. There is nothing overrated about it, really. You want to talk about an overrated game, talk about GTA5.
Gta5 got boring fast, and the multi-player in my opinion is terrible. The game got perfect reviews yet the Multi-player is far from perfect.

People who have played Bioshock Infinite like you aren't fans of Bioshock in general. The only reason why you play it and call it overrated is because you gave into the so called "hype" of playing it. Play Bioshock 1 & 2 and maybe you'll sound less ignorant.
Yes, and I really hate when people just say "you don't get it" or "it's too deep for you". I did get it, and it's not that amazing or incredibly smart, although still a good story. But my biggest problem was the combat and gameplay, which are completely different from the first Bioshock.

Last year at least had some spice to it, with Jackson and GAMES winning awards, but this...It's like the Xbone announcement conference. Except even more awkward and even less to do with gaming.
Just...just one of the worst, awkward shows I've ever seen...Jesus Christ, man.

Papers, Please is a much, incredibly better independent game than Gone Home ever could be. Gone Home has too much of that David Cage, I want to make a gripping story but my writing is atrocious, feel. Tries way too hard to make you feel it. Papers, Please also has humor, gameplay, and enjoyment.
Joel McHale is the ultimate troll. He knew from the get go that this "award show" was a train wreck and just went with it. I actually enjoyed his sarcasm a lot, especially when it was pointed at Geoff who apparently has no sense of humor at all.
I actually thought Joel was about the only person who knew what he was doing.

Its a good game but personally, Tomb Raider is my GOTY with TLoU at #2, I'd also rate ACIV, Bioshock: Infinite, Metro: LL and even Rayman Legends above GTAV to be honest.
well i think that it deserved it, and as you can see its all about opinion, for me the last of us was pretty dam good but i simply was blown away with gta. while playing the last of us i felt like i was playing a mature version of uncharted and to me it wasnt as unique as people were saying ( the walking dead, the road, children of men and changing lanes) and i will stop here before the last of us fanboys gang up on me...
Why do they bother? The game industries most prestigious award ceremony is hosted in an empty studio.
Last bit was undoubtedly the best part of this show.

Fair enough, in my opinion, a good game but not GOTY, it excels in 3 areas, the freedom of an open world, loads of content and seamless character switching.
As for animations, characters, gameplay, level design, mechanics, pacing, story etc... I felt that other games this year did a better job.

I loved Gone Home but no way was it indie game of the year.
This really shows hardcore gamers can't have a sense a humor about themselves. We complain that the VGAs are a joke already and yet still watch it for reveals we can watch on youtube the next day. Reggie should've punched those a-holes.

Is it just me or did it feel like they split the game of the year into basically three piece. Think about it GTA 5 won game of the year, Naughty Dog won studio of the year and they only produced one game this year which was The Last of Us which was on the slate for game of the year. Also BioShock Infinite won shooter of the year which was also one of the big games in the running for Game of the Year so it felt like everyone of the games running for game of the year got there own win in some way, shape or form. Kinda weird.
God bless the doritos pope, at least he's trying to do something for that isn't trying to antagonize gamers.

They should have at least screentested the hosts together. They just have zero chemistry, or rather the opposite of chemistry; one is a by-the-books host and the other is predominantly comedic and off the wall in his approach. It's like putting a stray cat and dog together and expecting them to gel.
