Slowly, and gradually had my mind blown during this demo. Incredible mechanics with such awesome potential! Hope to see this realized in a full game someday!
Oh man, you are going to love this monkey paw bullshit: 1. This DID become a game 2. The game WAS this demo Seriously, Superliminal is the biggest slog I've ever played, just play this free demo and avoid having to sit through the 2 hours of padding the dev pushed into it... Completely soulless
I saw this video way back in 2014, and now in 2020, Superliminal is releasing and I couldn't be happier. Thank you so much for not giving up on this, Pillow Castle. I couldn't stop thinking about this video since, and now I finally get to experience it first hand.
This is such a mind-opening concept. I may be looking way too deep into this, but the whole thing feels like a beautiful metaphor for how one must always change their perspective in order to get a full understanding of any situation. I will follow this project VERY closely and, hopefully, be fortunate enough to somehow contribute to this wonderful piece.
It's amazing to go back and look where Superliminal originated from. I watched people play this tech demo for ages back when it was just a demo, thinking it was an entire game itself, and constantly being mind blown by its tricks. Then, Superliminal came out, and I was continuously shocked, mindblown, and just impressed people could even make a game like this. Good job to all who worked on it. Your work is absolutely beautiful, and you guys have no doubt shone some creativity into many.
And another thing, after watching this demo the full way through for the first time in many years, Ive just realized the use of puzzles in Superliminal experimented upon in this: (SPOILERS) The moon grab, moveable doors, the two-door size-changing portals, sizeable fan, and of course, the resizing of objects. And in both games, they do it beautifully!
I had been looking forward to this game coming out since this video's release. And needless to say, after all those years of waiting. I can confidently say that Superliminal was totally worth the wait. I'm glad I didn't die before I got to experience it and I'm glad that others love it as well.
Whoa that's some wonderfully imaginative gameplay! Just marvelous innovations. I hope you'll be able to finish the game and gain a whole lot of attention, cause you really deserve it.
Hey Pillow Castle, just take your time developing this game. I am looking forward to the day where this game is critically acclaimed by majority like Portal. Best of luck to you all! :)
For some reason I can't help but laugh. My brain is like "NO NO NO" when things become bigger but dropping them in an angle. It's very original and awesome! Good luck with it!
I lost it when you plucked the moon right out of the sky! Excellent work, can't wait to see what other mind-melting puzzles are created. "We're a team of -students- mad geniuses.." Fixed that for ya!
Absolutely incredible! Whoever made this should contact steam, this would get instant greenlighted, meaning funded. Probably considered "indie", this would get SO many downloads it would be ridiculous. Also, steam workshop allows users to create their own levels and content, so the possibilities for this game are virtually INFINITE. I hope to see this released soon. Already got spare 20 bucks on steam wallet, would gladly spend them on this.
I love the tone in this game concept. The music is relaxing, pop noises would be satisfying when picking up objects, and everything is smooth on the eyes. 10/10 concept, hope this develops around the mechanic.
I remember watching this a long time ago, just replayed Superliminal when I though to try and find it again, im glad the long journey developing this game paid off!
Amazing mechanic you have there. Also, very clever adaptations, I especially like the last one. Looking forward to seeing all the possibilities this concept has. Subscribing ;)
To put it simply, this is an interactive optical illusion with each new mechanic adding another aspect of the illusion. Incredibly impressed with this sort of idea and would love to see it put into a retail release. Each new reveal was mind blowing as the demonstration went on.
This is one of the most amazing innovations I've seen in a game. It's such a simple concept, but since it's done so well it looks incredibly engaging and immersive! I'd love to see this game get greenlit for a massive multiplatform release. Everyone should experience this!
I love it! Not only have you come up with a fantastic new concept, you've found multiple ways to use it in gameplay. I could see myself playing this (and playing with this) for many hours.
i would assume if the game didn't crash the portal would scale up or down respectively, although scale doesn't matter until you drop it. perhaps they could keep this from being an issue if the portals became inactive as soon as the player picked them up.
JerryKid72 Very curious to see if the devs reply to this with an answer. I would guess as well that the portals just become blocked when picked up. It just doesn't make sense otherwise. One portal passing through another would have to somehow create another copy of the portal exiting through itself, and if you walked with it, another copy of you exiting the portal you're holding. Which makes no sense.
***** If you look closely, at one point when a portal is picked up the other portal's image goes white (which I assume is blank) so it seems they block when you're holding them.
Valve would be the best bet to hire you and this amazing game, you will make MILLIONS!!! no... BILLIONS off of such a perfect idea! Happy gaming everyone!
