Dougie is from that era where they worked hard, played hard and fought hard, but they could still share a beer and a laugh down the local.
Players of that time all have some great stories to share, as well as the odd tale that gets bigger with each telling.

They should put him behind the bar permanently. He’s fantastic and should be on TV footy shows. He would be an awesome addition

Agree, love Doug, people see the fun loving Doug and tend to forget he was an absolute champion. I’m a Hawthorn supporter and Doug used to towel up Dipper fairly regularly.

Always great value was Dougie Hawkins, I still have a certificate for attending his 300th at the Western Oval in 1993. A true lovable character of the game.

Happy 60th birthday mate. You got 10 ten years on me mate. Dougy even as Western Australian I loved watching you play. Was and still are a big fan of yours. Loved you on the footy show, you cracked me up so much with that laugh. Such a character. I’ll never forget on the footy show when they announced that poor old Teddy passed. God it broke my heart. We love you over hear in west brother. Happy 60th.

As a West Suburbian, that was fucking awesome. I never knew dougie Hawkins as I was born in 93 and was a pies supporter, but family who is bulldogs tells me he was a character.

Dougie was 1 of the originals on the footyshow along with Sam Newman . Those were the days when you got a true insite into the players and the shenanigans around a club . Watching this just makes you appreciate what we used to have for entertainment both on and off the field . Long live Dougie Hawkins .

Those Braybrook and $1000 fine stories.... pure gold. This is the type of bloke and the type of storytelling that I wish there was more of. Unfortunately all you hear now are mindless betting ads and boring crap from the same journos all trying to outdo each other

I used to be a real Mick Molloy fan but now can't stand him, he rudely interrupts not only the two other men on the panel but also the guest.
He has become an impolite big head.
Came on to this clip only to see Douglas The Great as Molloy has turned me off The Front Bar which
I no longer watch. Miss the great stars but that's a small price to pay in avoiding Molloy's thuggery.
