  • Can I grow 3ft tall collards again this year?!!
    I am so excited to be sharing my journey with you on growing 3ft tall collards again this year. Last year (2020) I actually grew my plants to a height of 3ft tall. I’ve been getting a lot of questions about how I grew mine so I thought it would be a great idea to begin making videos on how I care, feed, and maintain my collards. Thank you all for your support and lovely comments and happy gardening.

    Thanks for the video. 🙂 I’m growing greens for the first time this year (Georgia Southern and Morris Heading), and I’m wondering if there’s any secret to growing tender greens, because you know sometimes, you get a bunch of greens that cooks up more tender than others. The only info I could find online related to greens being tender is that they need adequate nitrogen, which they get anyway through fertilizing. Do you have any other tips?

    • @LaLascrops
      @LaLascrops  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello and welcome to my channel, thank you for watching my video about harvesting and fertilizing Georgia collard greens. As for tender greens that’s a good question, my only logical guess would be to harvest the leaves sooner to help promote more tender leaves as opposed to leaving them on the plant for awhile. Of course new growth is always fresher, they longer the leaves stay on the plant the more it’s exposed to the sun. Let me know if this works for you. Also, you are on track with feeding them nitrogen because the plants only develops leaves. I hope this helps and please don’t forgot to subscribe and tell a friend! Happy gardening 👩🏾‍🌾

    do the georgia southerns still regrow during the hot summers or do we have to cut the plant stem to the bottom around soil level?

    • @LaLascrops
      @LaLascrops  ปีที่แล้ว

      I kept these plants fall thru summer I had these plants for about 6 months I believe. This variety can be grown in cold and hot weather, if you live in a zone that permits you to still grow I would suggest growing varieties that can handle/grow in cool/hot weather.
