I don't journal or memory-keep, and my planner is a tool not an art project so no washi and definitely no stickers! I don't planner-hop, so at the end of the year I have two sets of calendar pages (A5 and Personal), and that's it. I generally keep two years in my rings - past and current, and round about now I take out last year (which I guarantee I may only have referenced twice!) and add in next year. I will hang on to the old ones for a couple of years, have a final flip through for any important dates - and then shred!

Love that! I can see how the previous year can be helpful! 🙌

This is a great video! Thanks for doing this! Sometimes people don't believe they can throw stuff away - not everything has to be saved or kept forever. Your method of looking through and finding/taking what worked and made you happy then bringing it back to what you need now is a great idea! I'm sending you healing vibes, hope you are feeling a lot better soon 💕 🎉

I’m happy for you! I am the same. I hardly use stickers or “deco” much. I only use my planner for future and present planning. My monthlies are for future planning like appointments, events, etc., for my weeklies, I utilize this for at a glance items that I need to remember for the week like practices, training, appointments, etc. and my dailies are just straight to do lists for the day. I consider my daily and brain dump. And I have one planner. I don’t journal, I don’t memory keep, I don’t doodle, and I don’t do anything that will distract me. It’s a personal choice for me, I’m not knocking anyone who does it but I have a specific reason for using my planner.
There is nothing wrong with wanting to change and still figuring things out. I’m glad you’re reflecting on past planners and figuring out what works best for you.

I don’t too much look over my notebooks either. But as a mother with no siblings, parents or grandparents… I keep them for my children and grandchildren to have a little piece of me and see life from my perspective after I’m gone.

This was one of my favorite plannerverse video. It was so nice to hear you say you don't journal or memory keep, and being honest with yourself about whether or not you'd actually look back on your older planners.

Really Great Video, you can definitely get overwhelmed. Thank you for sharing and being vulnerable. Many in the planner community struggle with this and spend way too much time, money, thought and effort when planning, recording….This is so very helpful. I pass on stickers and washi to my granddaughters , ages 3 1/2 , 11, 19 and 20. The little ones love to make Stickers notebooks ( composition books from staples, dollar tree journals… ) my older loves do the same and record school stuff, extra curricular activities…. It helps creatively and limits screen time immensely…. I love their Creations. Thank you , AGAIN !!!!! ❤

OMG. You’re the First one I’ve heard say the Don’t Journal/Memory Keep. I thought I was the Only One out there. I felt little like the Red headed Step Child of the Fam. My planner put the Fun in Functional but NO Journaling. How do they find the Time??? 🙏🥰👍

Love this video. I only keep the past 2 years of up. Anything older gets cluttered. If I find myself going back more than once to information in my past planner I put it in my collection/reference planner.

Really enjoyed this, my friend recommended it to me. I did a chatty video last month where I discovered no matter what I did I just couldn't stay with bullet journals. I noticed I gravitate to the hobo weeks layout so trying that now!! Hoarding things due to fear of money or I might maybe one day use.. Anyways less about me, thank you for this video and your words and sharing this xoxo Imogen aka awitchesplans 🧙🏻 Ps. I hope you recovered from your surgery and are feeling much better! ✨

this amazing.......................................I have had these thoughts about keeping and not keeping. I journal I try to memory keep yet not in the "planner" like a lot of people do.
This is very inspiring for me knowing not having all the fancy things that I FOMO over. Truth, I use to get A&O boxes just because I knew others that got them. Then when it arrived, I barely used all the items. eventually I will get to all the empty books :-) for sharing and being vulnerable is a breath of fresh air.

My past planners are my alibis. I keep the full ones, the unused or slightly used go in the trash.
I do have bins of alibis going back to high school 🤔 may not need those any more.

Super video! I love the idea of learning something from your older planners! I don't memory-keep in my planner, either. I do keep what is essentially a commonplace book to write down book notes, quotes, ideas, etc.

Great video. I didn’t use to keep my planners. I would use them purely for planning out my daily life…events, appts, kids stuff and such. Never put any memory keeping in them. I’ve only always put that in a journal so at the end of the year. I would go through it and only copy important info from it into my new one and would toss it. I started adding memory keeping and “journaling” like 3 years ago and since then I have kept them. But I also don’t do much actual journaling like I did before so I’ve been adding bits and pieces to my planner. My life has gotten too busy for separate journaling 😂.

You go girl! 🎉decluttering is great! I have three books: The HP I use to track my appointments, work meetings, performance metrics and to do lists/ menu plan gets thrown away at the end of the year! My Other HP I use to track steps, mood, weather, journal about my day and pics. Lastly, I memory keep/create in a 6x8 album or binder using TN pages, 6x8 pages or a combo! Two of them I keep, one gets thrown away (I keep the rings). I destash every month! Hope you feel better soon! ❤️‍🩹 thanks for sharing! I’m with you! Because decluttering is an awesome feeling! ❤🥰

I’m actually doing the same thing. I’m hauling a bunch of stuff to the goodwill and throwing things away. All of printed inserts are going in the trash. I’m over my rings inserts being everywhere in a mess and I’m starting fresh. I’m currently using planner perfect and I’m sticking with it right now. I’m kinda over my rings and printing things constantly and keeping up with the trends. I’m just ready to declutter everything. I’m sure in a few months I’ll regret this but right now I’m ready to purge my whole damn house. Haha

Thank you for doing a stream of conscious review of old planners to show what you were noticing. I might do something by going back 2 journals so there is some mental distance. I think that 3 month window is far enough for me to be impartial and really notice what worked and didn't. Make a "Things I noticed" notebook to reference going forward. A nice thing to have when I am feeling stagnant in my planning. I think limiting my back catalog is also good. 👍 Thanks again 👋

Thank you for this video! I have been decluttering everything in my home for about a year and half( except old planners and planner supplies). Every time I start trying to get rid of them I get that sentimental feeling and can’t. I want to. They need to go. There is so much life in them and I want to make sure they are properly disposed. How do you do that? Do you just trash them? Burn them? Also, how do you declutter all your supplies?? Thank you for your help!

@@Beverlyplans thank you for your help! I hadn’t thought about shredding and I actually have one! Lol. I’m sure once I get started I will be so glad I did, but as you have said it is so difficult!!! I don’t back through them though until I get ready to dispose of them. It’s a vicious cycle! I come from a background of hoarders. I’ve been working in the tendencies like I said for 1 1/2 years. Everything else is fantastic and I feel so free. Just this! I have so many Happy Planner sticker books and washi tape that it’s unreal. I am using as much as possible each week but still it’s not even a dent! Your video sure helped me. It was so timely. Thanks again!
