    I am currently building my own truck camper from scratch because the price of these things is insane! I have a travel trailer but I would also like to tow my boat down to Florida so a truck camper is my best option without having to buy another vehicle like a Van or RV.

    I've had one of these types of campers and what I liked about it is :
    1. I don't have to worry about navigating around roads, parking lots, finding places with a trailer behind me.
    2. Need to pull into McDonald's, gas station or grocery store? No problem.
    3. I can make a U Turn.
    4. I can go down rough roads.
    5. I can bushwhack better.
    6. I can be more stealthy.
    7. Easier to pass, merge and change lanes on the highway.
    8. If I need the back of the truck for something else, I just take the camper off.
    9. I can pull my ATVs, or Dirt Bikes with a trailer.
    Maybe the price is higher because the manufactures don't make as many as they do trailers?

       Anthony Marshall one hour? really hmm i'm having second thoughts. Have you heard of the laser way on here?
      Also, have you almost knocked over the camper by running into one of the poles and denting it or just bumping into it with cosmetic scratches/dents?
      hmm hour.. might be 2 hours for me then.

    I'm not trying to be sarcastic, but why are these campers so expensive? "on sale" for $16000? One could get a single axle tow behind with a bathroom and more space for $12-$13k. I don't understand.

    There is no way that camper weighs 1285 lbs. We had a 2016 Rayzr FK on our Ram 1500. For those that don't know, a Rayzr is a similar Travel Lite slide in truck camper only without any cab-over structure whatsoever. It was advertised at the time as 985 lbs. They currently show the weight as 1075 lbs. I have a Cat scale certificate that shows the Razyr FK at 1320 lbs so how can the same camper with the cab-over weigh less than the one without ? Don't accept advertised weights as gospel. By comparison our current Eureka truck camper weighed 1275 lbs and it does not have a stove, a furnace, a propane bottle, water heater or a stereo. It also has a small plastic sink, half the size of the stainless steel sink shown. And yes, I have Cat scale certificates for all 4 truck campers we've owned. I always recommend that everyone weigh their rigs new just so that they have a baseline to go by.

    • @campingworld
      @campingworld  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately, I do not believe so, but you'd want to double check your truck bed dimensions. I believe the Tacoma short bed is only 60.5" which isn't long enough as the center of gravity on the truck camper would most likely be behind the rear axles creating an unsafe hauling condition. When it comes to truck campers, there are very few that are built for anything under a 6ft bed. Hopefully that helps and thanks so much for watching!

    • @campingworld
      @campingworld  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ricky, sorry about that my friend. Unfortunately many stores (I'm sure Las Vegas included) have an inventory cap so it's tough to add new lines. Currently I believe Grand Rapids, MI is the only location with these campers. That being said, I do know that they are truck camper experts at that location and can help you pick the proper tie-downs and turnbuckles as well as teach you how to load and unload if you're unfamiliar with the process. Thanks for watching and let me know if you plan to make a trip to Grand Rapids, I'll personally get someone to take excellent care of you.

    So what is the out the door price? After they add on dealer prep, paint protection, fabric protection, floor protection, extended warranty, documentation fee, shipping, sanitization fee, walk thru fee, storage fee and finally tax and title.

    • @campingworld
      @campingworld  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jerry, that is a great question. Many of these fees depend on where you live (shipping, tax & title) and some states don't title truck campers at all. You will also want to look at tie downs and turnbuckles and include that cost in the out the door number. I recommend contacting the Grand Rapids, MI Camping World location as they are truck camper experts and can help you with an out the door price. Thanks for watching and happy RV shopping!

      Too much camper for that truck (weight) even if it were to fit. 1,120-1,620 is the range in the Tacoma's payload depending on configuration, year, etc. Note that you have to consider passengers and supplies in that figure. I also doubt the unit actually weighs as advertised. Many truck camper owners complain about this. Dry weight is measured with the unit stripped down.

Don't need fancy expensive cabinets etc I don't need the brag option! 2 years on, still looks new, no leaks, no problems and use it for 7 mths out of the year!
