    What's your favourite MIDI controller?

My main MIDI/DAW controller is still the Ableton Push 2. Although for expressive playing the Embodme Erae Touch is my go-to choice.

Such a great video! Also, very happy you took your time with this review, very thoughtful and of course beautifully done. (Also, I truly love this aesthetic more and more!) 😊

Thanks for doing such an in-depth review of the Genki Wave ring! I bought both that one and the Neova ring that was similar, but then Iearned a few months back Neova went out of business. I did get the Neova working for a while on my midi keyboard, and loved it - but didn't get far because I was just using an Ipad at the time, and neither company had any software support for iPad. Finally I got aggressive building a new studio, just got my M1 Macbook up and running with Ableton Live, and am very much looking forward to using them, esp. the Genki Wave ring. Your video will be a great help! Thanks!

Great video and in depth review, Alexander! I ordered one two days ago and was terrified that your video would say that it's rubbish, ha ha! Glad to see that you really enjoy using it. I'm hoping to use it with Ableton while playing theremin - you can't use other "hands on" touch controllers with a theremin, as they alter pitch. Touch a computer, track pad, iPad etc. and the pitch changes.
Genki should appreciate your video effort, as they don't really give much info on their site (myself, I ordered it at my teacher's recommendation). BTW - love your studio!

It's not perfect, but it's certainly not rubbish either. Once set up up properly, you can do some nice things with it. I hope you enjoy :)

know if that vcv rack connect still works?
    i can't find it anywhere?
or is it only available when you buy the wave?
    thanks!

I don't use VCV Rack, so I can't really help you there.

Can you tap/trigger and hold, as some audio fix require?

Regarding the vibrato gesture. Two possible ways it could work. It could control the amplitude of a LFO modulating the pitch. Like a normal mod wheel. Or it could convert hand motion directly to pitch modulation like playing an acoustic string instrument. Which is it?

By default, it’s the second option. But you could also set up the first, depending on the software your controlling and how you set up the parameter routing.

Cool introduction video! I considered getting the ring... is Softwave compatible with the MacBook Pro M1 Max?

    • @XanderEwald

I use it on my M1 Mac Mini without issues, so I guess it should work.
