Just a reminder, when it says 20/24 oz of oil. It's ALWAYS the lower number for an oil change only. In other words if your changing oil, it's 20 oz. If your pulling the transmission, and have it serviced , internals removed, and cleaned. It's 24 oz. This is true with the motor. And primary. The manual should explain that a little better
Sweet video, even if it was with a phone. My 99 Electra Glide says 4 quarts is what it uses, i just put the 4 quarts in. Yeah, i change the filter and don't fill it before installing. Just a mess trying to. I run Lucas synthetic in mine, they make a oil, transmission and primary oil as well. Love the K&N filters for easiness of changing. Guy i bought the bike from was using a full synthetic car oil in all three from Walmart. 🙄🙄🙄
The only reason I was using that is because it was the best deal at the time unless I can get a sponsor or get it somewhere cheaper all the time and then I use it all the time……..
I’ve been using shell rotella t6 5w40 synthetic diesel truck oil in all 3 holes. Transmission shifts very smooth , primariy has no issues ,and the engine seems to like it. Been using it for 30,000 miles.
@@scottberry5266 well the oil pump has seals and top seal in pushrod has one too .. maybe get the bolt cutters out and cut a couple and check where they go in head lol
@@mickmc1498 : I’ve had them apart … lol. To each their own. Use whatever oil you want and I’ll use what I want. People think because they have a Honda, Harley , etc they must use brand specific oil and that’s not correct the manufacturer wants you to believe that. Also , I don’t remember seeing o rings on the pushrods. One end fits into the lifter and the other fits into the rocker assembly…. Also the stock pushrods are one piece , so where are the o rings??
Just bought an "abused/not taken care of" 00 Electra glide. Noone knows anything about it. Going to give it the TLC it needs. So the plug you said"don't touch it" what plug is it? I was a Honda guy, just curious. Thank you!!😇😇
if you run an amsoil filter you can go two times your factory change...change that k&n filter at your usual factory recommended oil change with out changing oil and go your factory recommended again....in other words with amsoil and amsoil filter you can run a year of double you normal oil change WHICH EVER COME FIRST.... BEEN DOING IT FOR 15 YEARS PER AMSOIL DEALER...my normal on my 03 is 3000 miles...i run 6000 and change in winter when i put away...
@@perryhart3172 are you one of those guys ????? 50 to 60k a year???? wow...you da man...i doubt it.....if you rode that many miles you wouldn't have time to be on here dude....
Awesome video thanks and beautiful bike sir
Thank you bro. I drained the primary and the oil was tan gray... Just bought the bike but I can tell you this hasn't been done in who knows how long.
Are you supposed to put some oil in the new oil filter? I thought I saw that on another video.

I would need more information on before I doubted the old man on his decisions. I’m sure there’s a reason he was running that filter.

That’s awesome good to know
Great but will ruin the rubber seals eventually in pushrods and oil pump.

Do you know if the transmission drain plug and the oil drain plug take the same size 0-ring?
What is the other drain plug for the one you said not to touch (to late ) already drained it how to fix?

Was that a full quart? Wouldn't that be too much? My recommended was 28oz wet. Full qt for rebuild.
Then used 28 ounces…….
Video not bad with your phone. I've seen worse
Thanks. GentlemanService
