People tend to forget that this game was released in 2020 before ps5 came out, the reason why it looks last Gen is because it is last Gen, it's not like horizon which was made for ps5 mainly
Just a piece of advice, since the shield guys can sometimes be very annoying, I reccomend killing one more mongol leader (they usually hang out in the camps you need to liberate) and unlocking Water stance. Water stance has an attack or few that break shields really fast. Great video as always!
I'm practically playing the entire game in that stance since unlocking it, idk why. Looks great and shielded mobs are way harder to deal with in any other stance than speared or whatever are outside of designated stances
I hope someone from the PC Modding community steps up to make a High Resolution Textures Mod for this game, same issue was there with Elden Ring too, the texture quality was not that high, we can't even take advantage of these GPUs even after having such a high amount of VRAM.
I have completed the prologue and wow what a game, already loving it, this is how games should be made, perfectly optimized, and a great story, totally worth pre ordering this one. Ubisoft should learn from this game, they are charging almost double and day one releases are full of bugs
bruh nixxes did such great job that even my rx 6800 handles 4k with fsr at 60fps stable, im so glad i have 16gb vram, since this game in few zones goes above 13gb
Zach theres something wrong with frame generation in 1440p max DLAA in your test. I have the 4080 and a 13700KF, and im getting all the time 180+ fps with you settings. I get the same result as you without FG, but FG pushes the fps to avg 180
game is super well optimized, nixxes did it again, i have rx 6800 non xt , and running this game on maxed settings with fsr 3.0 on dynamic, game runs even above 1440p upscaling closer from 2000p i think and still hit very stable 60fps, what a joy to have well optimized game these days. and its not super heavy on my old r5 3600 cpu too like it was on horizon forbiden west :) 16gb vram also great stuff, in few zones ive seen above 13gb vram usage so i feel so safe
Funny, people consider a game that just doesn't have massive stuttering a good port. Arguably, a4080 should be able to run a game like this at over 100 FPS at 4k.

expect 60fps+ on 1080p high, 5700xt is similar to 6600xt, and amd is better in that game actually than NVIDIA on 6650xt which is a bit faster than 5700xt atleast in 1080p i am custom settings(veryhigh with high shadows(gives like 10fps and doesnt make much difference) and high fog (another +5fps without visual change)) i am getting 65-90fps, avg like 80 and i am getting some drops to 60 but this is cpu bottleneck since gpu usage drops to 80-90%
I said this in comments on your channel before, and I'll say it again, seriously consider getting a 24" 1080p for when you test older GPUs ( and your channel is mainly about older gpus to begin with )
to be fair what does a modern game look like i mean since the release of last gens visuals didnt change that much i mean look at AC Unity, Ryse Son of Rome, Uncharted 4, and bunch more they could be released nowdays and no one would say how they look old or bad, but here there is something definetly weird and idk what exactly, visals look kind of cartonish expecially the veggetation

I would be very curious about your opinions on optimal settings for 4070 super. On mine, playing max setttings at 3440x1440 it's averaging 70fps but it is dropping to high 50s, DLSSQ boosts it to 80-100, but definitely looking softer, at 45inch 1440p it's quite noticeable. Waiting on the benchmark for that one!

change shadows to high and fog to high, that should give you like +15fps without much impact on visuals

Got 14900k with undervolt + asus rog 4080 white edition + 3440x1440 on Alienware Dell 34 inch OLED, getting 150-180 fps with temps: CPU 40-46c. GPU 51-56c. Without undervolting my 14900k in bios, I'm getting around 180-200 fps, but temps will be 54-58c instead 44c with undervolt.

Nixxies are absolute pc porting wizards, the game runs flawlessly for me. Although there is a bug when using nvidia frame gen.basically whwn you enable then disable it the peformance takes a massive hit intill you reset the game .
Considering this game was a 2020 release, with the game demo being as early as 2018, on the Play Station, the graphics are pretty good and it is a beautiful game. So nice to so such a well optimised game on the PC Platform given what has been released in the last 2 years.
Horizon Zero Dawn looks better than this and you only needed an RTX 3080 10GB to achieve that 4K 60fps max settings experience. The fact that you need a RTX 4080 for this game baffles me.
Oh God, I thought the low-resolution texture issue was my problem and tried everything, but I see it's the game. I no longer trust the screenshots people upload on Steam, most of them are edited or enhanced with AI.
DLSS will correct itself to maintain the framerate you're targeting. for example, if you target 60 fps and you are in a demanding area, the DLSS will change (for ex, from quality to balanced), to maintain 60 fps
Pretty disappointing performance tbh, it's an older game with slightly enhanced graphics. Forbidden West technically looks very modern and also runs a bit better than this game.

Frame gen is creating black artefacts across the screen during in-game cutscenes when the camera is panning.

FSR Native AA is a bit sharper but still exhibit shimmering than DLAA. 🤷🏻♀️
If you want it to be a bit brighter you can set the brightness to 70. Doesn't mess with the black levels at all.

Saw a video of running this game on minimum spec GPU (GTX 970) and at low settings, it still looked pretty good.

Yes, DLSS FG is smooth, FSR FG has jitters and stutters and it's less responsive as well
Quality wise, it's similar, it depends on the AA or upscaler
