- Adalia and Meghan are two beautiful and courageous young girls who are growing up way too fast. Both have a rare and fatal genetic condition called Progeria, a disease that causes rapid ageing - 10-times faster than normal. Their life expectancy is very short, usually only into the mid-teens. But, as Sunday Night’s Steve Pennells reports, they are making every second of their short lives count. And the good news is, there’s now hope for a cure.
This story originally aired on the 21st October 2018. Sadly Adalia passed away on January 12, 2022.

It's heart touching how the mother reacts to Adalia saying she's 12. Because for Adalia, it's a normal childhood thing to be excited about being a year older. But for her mom, every minute of every day counts and she defensively holds on to that. But when they redo it, she stays quiet as she sees her daughter happy.

i have been following this familys story for about 2 years. When it first came up on my recommended i watched the story and every since i have been catching up to find out if their doing alright. its sad that she passed so recently, but heaven now welcomes another angel.

I wonder what's happened to this world that people would bully either or girl or suggest the mother was using her daughter for money. It's clear the great love that exists between the two of them. If the mother received any money from a video etc then good for her! I'd definitely add to the pot. I can't begin to imagine what their medical costs are each year-even with insurance I'm sure it's hundreds of thousands of dollars of year. Also right on to the dad who stepped in when she was 10 months and had the courage to adopt her and become her father-I'm sure that was a very scary decision.

The saddest part was when he said most people with progiria (probably spelled that wrong) pass away within 14 years of age. She's turning 12 in December. She's such a sweet girl she deserves so much in life.
