  • Hello there! 👋🏽🌹 Last week I used baking soda on top of some transparent colors and I just loved the effect. Yet underneath all of those bubbles was a beautiful rainbow of color that I was curious about! So this week I just wanted to play with the same transparent colors that I used last time to see how they look in the light. And Wow….It’s gorgeous!!👍🏽🤗 In all they years that I have been flameworking I have never used just the transparents alone like this.
    I’m so glad that I finally did! Hope you all enjoy!
    Big Hugs to you all!! - Robin👋🏽🌹💫

    Very pretty. I bet etching either the dots or the base would be interesting too. Thanks for another great video. Stay warm.

      Hi Linda! Thanks so much! 🖤 It would be fun to see a whole necklace with some of them etched that way! As for the weather…it’s 12 degrees out and windy!! Brrrrr! 😂💫✨🥶Cheers to you-Robin 🌹🌹

      Hi Heidi! 🥰✨✨ I love to play with transparent colors! I thought this was such a fun design! 🤗
      It is so interesting to me to see the extra colors that appear when they overlap….so pretty! I hope you are doing well!! 🌹👋🏽 Big Hugs- Robin ✨🌹

    Just beautiful! I love how the colours create other colours when they overlap, especially the blue and cranberry making purple.
    When you first put the twists on I thought what a great bead. When you flattened it I thought no don't spoil it! But then it looked great! When you started putting Swiss dots on I thought no it's perfect as it is... But then with the dots it looks amazing! I think what I'm trying to say is that you had about 3 perfect beads within that one exercise, but I'm so glad you went all the way! It's BEAUTIFUL! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

      Thanks Clare! I love doing these demos for that very reason…there are always multiple designs to see in just one bead being created! They color shift is so cool with these transparents! I’m so happy that you liked this one every step of the way! 🤗💫 Hope your doing well! Hugs- Robin 🌹👋🏽✨💫✨

      Isn’t that cool? 💫 I learned over the years that the oil from your skin will bring a bit of a shine back to an etched surface. Then I figured that the cleaned mandrel hole would do the same! 😃 So I use a bit of olive oil on the end of a toothpick to bring the shine back…works like magic!! So glad you noticed!
      Good to hear from you, Kpil! Cheers- Robin 👋🏽🌹✨🌹✨🌹✨

      Oh Wow! That is so awesome! 💫 I’m glad I could help influence you to try the 104! I think it helps to understand the glass better when you try all types. Isn’t it crazy how fast it melts compared to the 33?! 😂
      Thanks so much for sharing your adventures Morgan! 😃Cheers-Robin 👋🏽🌹✨💫

    Neato and delightful! The "X" does really add to the design, nice. It's one of those beads that looks edible! The Swiss dots look cool and work as a safety feature too! (lollipops don't have Swiss dots ;) Thank you for the vid! 🌹🌹🌹🕷
    p.s. I sent you some pics :)

    You are so amazing! Personally I like the slower video because it helps me to get a feel for how fast I should be working in the flame. As a beginner I tend to feel rushed. Dotted Swiss is a very old fabric weave - from around 1750 apparently. 🧡Happy Thanksgiving!🥧🍂🍁

    • @scottwoodresearch
      @scottwoodresearch  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Emily! Thanks so much for your wonderful comment! 🥰 I really appreciate the bit of history on Swiss dots too….fascinating!! I understand how you can feel rushed at the torch. A lot of these pieces can take 30-45 minutes or so to make. It’s all about patience! When I get back from my break I will try to demonstrate in real time. So many people have what we call ‘ short attention span theater’ 😂😂 that’s the main reason why I speed it up! However, I know there are quite a few beginners tuning in lately….
      It would absolutely be helpful to see in real time!! Thanks again Emily and Happy Thanksgiving!✨✨
      Cheers- Robin 🌹✨✨💫👋🏽

    Love this bead! When you swipe on the clear, are you moving the bead and holding the rod stationary? Or is it just an illusion.

    • @scottwoodresearch
      @scottwoodresearch  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Enrico! No illusions here! 😂 I am moving the bead and the clear is stationary. I learned this a long time ago and it really helps! Good to hear from you! 🤗 Cheers- Robin 👋🏽🌹✨🌹✨

    Gorgeous! I can't wait to try it! Of course I have a question... sometimes the edges of the bead (this part where it touches a mandrel) are uneven. I am trying to heat it up and make it more rounded but it doesn't always work and sometimes they are sharp after I take it off the mandrel. How can I avoid it? 😵‍💫 p.s. still waiting for the annealer, can not wait 🙃

    • @scottwoodresearch
      @scottwoodresearch  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Barbara! Ya…those edges can get sharp! When you heat up glass it wants to go into a round mass which pulls the edges inward creating a sharp edge. It’s hard to avoid this if you are constantly overheating. Sometimes I will add some extra glass to the ends and gently roll them out so that the glass pushes out a little bit and tucks itself into the mandrel. Does that make sense? Plus when you wrap the glass around the mandrel if it is not perfectly wound on the mandrel it will be uneven. It can take a lot of practice to keep the edges looking nice.
      I used to make barrel shaped beads and bi-cone beads that would help my edges look better. But if you’re trying to go round you have to be very careful not to overheat the middle of the bead or everything will pull together. Better to make a longer base bead and work off of that. But you want to make sure your edges look nice before you move on and add more glass. I am going to take a short break for a few weeks but when I get back I will try to remember to address that very issue! I hope this little bit of information helps you out! Keep me posted…🤗
      Hugs- Robin🌹✨👋🏽✨💫✨💫

      @@scottwoodresearch Hello! I think I get it in theory and now it is time for practice 😉 My torch after short service is back in the game so I hope tommorow I will work on this edges and even wounding.. And maybe my annealer will come. For sure I will let you know when I get it! I am really gretful for your help🙂 Have a nice break. I hope You are doing well! Cheers Barbara🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼

      Hi Barbara! Im so excited that your annealer is coming! 😃 That’s great! And I’m glad you understand ‘in theory’ about those sharp edges. 😅 It does take a lot of practice…but it’s worth it when you notice how much better your work starts looking! @@scottwoodresearch Hello! My annealer came! It looks OK but it is hot as hell when I set up this 970 C ! Is your annelaer also so hot outside I mean the "case"? I saw someone who puts their beads into the cooling bubbles for about half an hour and then anneal it in cold oven, heat up to about 570C and then start cooling. Sometimes she anneals the beads after few weeks! I thought it should be done immediately after finishing the bead. If it doesn't crack for few weeks it means it doesn't need it 😐 I feel I don't get it and miss a point 🙂 Have a nice day and sorry to bother you during your vacation. Hope you are doing well!🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸 Barbara

    • @scottwoodresearch
      @scottwoodresearch  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Barbara! 🤗 Hurray!!🥳💫 Im so excited for you! Having an annealer really helps! That’s awesome!Mine also gets that hot…. Around 2000 degrees F. And the outside will be hot as well! That’s normal!
      As far as when and how to anneal…I just stick to the old way 😅… hold between 950-1000F. Put your work away hot. When you are done let it cool for 4 hours at least for small work. I use a simple program that I’ve used for years that takes about 5 hours to cool my work.
      There will always be individuals who have their own ways of doing things…and I just know what works for me, from personal experience! 🤗✨🌹 And Keep in mind that the thicker the work is the longer it should anneal for.
      Seriously, there are books written about just the annealing process! Try not to make it more complicated than it needs to be!😂😂 🌹. And never worry about bothering me…I’m here for you!! 👍🏽💫
      I will see you soon-ish! (I’m feeling behind already..😩) Lol! 😅 Big Hugs- Robin 👋🏽🌹✨🌹🌹🌹
