That yard is super clean and calm. Wish we had near me. Where I go is decades old, mess everywhere, tight space, and have to deal with some super a-hole scrappers. The clip, just chop it up and bring in and then dispose of that VIN area since you are legit.
@@steveH384 let me tell you, a truck in front of me drove onto the scale and I pulled right behind em. I didn't know we was on a scale. I can imagine how mad dude was
I had a vehicle with no running gear I wanted to get rid of. I backed it out of the garage and started with a sawsall on the back and worked my way to the front. As long as it is in small chunks you can mix it with the shred.
I worked in a Steel mill 20 years & my Dad work on the scrap yards equiptment, seen some crazy shit ppl do ! No wonder our scrap yards r so tight on stuff !
The guy mentioned a vin number is what caused your grief. Cut the fenders off and cut up the front so it isn't recognizable as a front end and it will go as scrap or cut it up and put out at the road and a scrapper will pick it up and take it in. Good yards try to make sure vehicles are not stolen.
You did okay. I have people ask me "what do you do with the metal you get?". Or "what happens to it". But you're right about copper. Copper cable, piping and brass is all I take and I do okay with that. I'm a small time scrapper and I always support channels, liked and subbed.
I have only one yard near me and I get so nervous when I go up on the scale. If they don't take it for any reason I have nowhere else to dump it. I would have to go to the big city like 60 miles away.
Aluminum is where the cash at. I just junked 1 20 in rim was surprised when I saw the total. I got like 60 for what I was gonna throw out for trash/scrappers
As a welder I always got some kinda scrap metal yrs ago cast iron was the thing get good money for I was doing some railings on an apartment buildings and the plumber pulled out several cast iron bathtubs I got 57 dollars each I loved that about a month after that the same called me said he had one come get well I did he helped me load the heavy ass tub well for that one I got a whole. $5.70 cents not even enough to put some diesel back in my tank nor if I drank coffee to buy some coffee needles to that was my last trip to the scrap yard now when I got scrap metals I put them out some random scraper pick them up
Scrap yards are very rough businesses to operate and organize. That seemed like a fairly decent yard with a Fairly efficient system and fair prices... I would have taken that front clip off your hands in Colorado tho😉
Definitely not strange nowadays. I've scrap cars with no title but it's a pain in the ass . Cutting it all up so ass it's not a car no longer is the key
I work at a scrap yard. It's crazy and frustrating but the DMV and State Police are really strict about cars, frames, and dashes with a VIN and no title or paperwork. If we're caught buying it they will pull our license.
Hey Adam new sub in the uk,good vid. Interesting to know that about cars. I've never tried to scrap a car but would imagine it's the same here in the uk.
Yeah pretty much. You need to take in the V5 document (proof of keeper) the scrap yard will fill in the bottom bit, i think it is green. They will give you the copy for your records. However they will ask you to remove the wheels or will charge you for disposal. TBH its easier to sell it to a trader who buys scrap cars, he will deal with all the cra...p
I think this would be a perfect example for Weis melting would come in handy because of you can make a bunch of bars out of it they would never know it was a vehicle and you would not need a title just sign the paperwork
10 cents for aluminum, 10 cents for radiators, and $1.50 for copper? Wow, i would laugh in those guys face if they quoted me those prices today. Its so crazy how much aluminum and copper prices have risen in just 2 years.
If you cut it up the clip with the sawzall they don't care. If it's complete they want the paperwork.. Hide the parts underneath regular light scrap. I brought all the doors and fenders and hood one time, the scrap yard didn't ask me for paperwork.
If it wasn't for thieves stealing cars, keeping what they want, and scrapping the rest...we wouldn't have to worry about VIN numbers. Same as copper wire. When you have a lot of it, you need a business license that shows you work with that stuff. Too many thieves. At least where I'm at.
Ya did get 138 bucks, ( and nice return on cat converter ) put the scrap out on the curb and let a scrapper deal with it, (sounds like your only dealing with about 30 bucks) , he'll be a regular at scrap yard and get it through. There are more rules at a scrap yard than playing golf 😀
@@adamj8293 Adam, I don't blame ya, I probably would have done same thing. Scrap yards need that kind of scrap resources and they will eventually bully people out of getting product. @The Artist Formerly Known as R.T. it blew me away when he said 10 cents for aluminum. That's so bad. Man has the market turned great in the last 2 years
The money has never been in scrap metal. 200 pounds wil get you about $15 in my area and those who only scrap metal end up with blow-out backs and living in tents in the woods. The problem with aluminum is: it's very light and takes a lot of it to add up to anything. Brass is good because it's heavy but it''s not very common anymore. #2 copper, #1 copper and bare-bright copper are going u, up, upp and up higher. It's now $3.31 per pound in my area. The reason it keeps going up is because the price of mining it keeps going up and China is willing to pay us good money for recycled copper instead of paying the mining prices. Today 7/6/22 - Copper is king and it's everywhere... ya just have to dig a little.
I've always had problems outta that scrap company the one I go to one h only have to fill out an afadvid and the take it no matter how new the vehicle is or old
Don't ever take converters to a scrap yard.. You'll get steel prices which on average it only brings 8$-10$ every hundred pounds Also depends on the company you deal with as well.
@mrgoodtimes05 the one I worked at, would deal with people who had dealers licenses and take them in for what the metal was worth. If a regular customer came in with some, we let them know they'll be getting steel prices.
When he said title or junking certificate you reminded of the loogie that wanted to go to work cause it wad Taco Tuesday, but she took Musinix instead.

You have to cut up most car parts small enough so it's not recognizable.
Especially if the metal piece
might have a ViN Num located somehow somewhere apon It 😉

You do give them the ownership with the vehicle though, correct?
Nope well at least in prince Edward island

now ya know why theres so much crap dumped on the back roads an in the woods
Turns up at a scrappy with a camera, where he ain’t known.get back in the office son
Just rent a gas circular saw and cut it in to small pieces and take it back to scrap yard. Should have did that in first place.
Take you 2 minutes
Agreed hot saw way to go
Didn't ya hear him ?he said this was his first time!! Not everyone knows how the fucking process works bigmouth !!
It cost more to rent a gas circular saw then you get from the scraps that you cut
You didn't remove your signature
You should
Rip the tag off cut it up make it look like, not a car. If you don't want to do that effort another scraper may be happy to help you out with removal
Cut it all up and toss the plastic in trash bring back the piece to scrap yard
