Glad you posted to share your experience. Getting the same response from a ventura county dealer. Quoted $900+ to do the prerequisite AC hose replacement. Can others post/share in the comments which dealers in Southern California are quoting for less so we can all try to get the best prices?
Just took my 2020 Honda Civic Sport(bought Aug. 2020) in for the SECOND time. The first was November 2022 with around 10k on the odometer. They tried to charge me $600 as the A/C only has warranty for 2 years. I raised HELL and they covered the cost. I did my research and found that 2016 to 2021 Civics and other Honda models have problems with the A/C and Honda extended the warranty for !0 years. The second time, I brought my car in at 23k on the odometer and they charged me $400 to evacuate and recharge the system. BOTH times they said NO LEAK(which is covered) so it is NOT covered by the warranty extension. It is WELL KNOWN that the R1234YF A/C system is defective and #HONDA knows it. I would NEVER have bought this car if I had known about this. There are 10's of thousands of complaints online and even a class action lawsuit. Honda should be held accountable for non-disclosure. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT BUY A HONDA WITH THE R1234yf A/C system! Share this with anyone you like! DO NOT BUY A HONDA!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for this. I had the issue before the warranty extension. Filed the paperwork for refund on repairs I had to make in May 2022. $2866. Honda refunded $1673. Went to dealer to see about excess charges. They said it was for a bunch of hoses they had to replace because they were contaminated from the leak. If it’s the faulty seal caused the leak I would think the hoses should be covered too. They said no because Honda didn’t know about the issue…blah, blah, blah. I’ve been happily driving Hondas since 1990. I feel betrayed by this fiasco. Doesn’t help that I’m a 74 year old widow. Thanks for letting me vent. Any suggestions who I might contact now??
We took our 2018 CRV in hoping it was the compressor seals that were the issue. We were told it was the discharge hose and they charged us $1,130 for the fix. It's ridiculous that Honda is only covering the compressor seals with the extended warranty when other components of the system are failing prematurely... We will never be buying another Honda, that's for sure.
This is day 2 of year 2 out of FIVE years of my attempt attempt with Honda of America to fix the ac recall on my 2016 honda civic. My condenser failed 6 years ago and I have been bringing it in every year since to get the condenser replaced. The first year I paid out of my own pocket, the next year I received the “extended warranty” for the condenser due to “manufacturer error”. what is happening is once the condenser starts failing, it inevitably puts a strain on the AC compressor and evaporator, so Honda has told their dealerships that when the compressor and evaporator fail due to the manufacturer faulty condenser, charge the consumer to fix the problem permanently. Fixing the just condenser is not a permanent fix. It is a Band-Aid on a bigger problem. It doesn’t take a mechanic to know if you have a system with multiple parts and one continually fails, It puts a strain on the entire system. Honda is now charging thousands of dollars to fix the other parts of the a/c that are starting to fail because the faulty condenser and shaft seal. If your condenser FAILS, every single year (like mine has) and the compressor and evaporator and other parts of the ac system starts to do the same, be prepared for a hefty bill to pay for it. I have spent numerous days and hours bringing my car in to Honda every single year to have the condenser replaced. The first year it failed, there was no warranty so I paid over $3000 out of my own pocket to fix it. I was never reimbursed. Last year, the compressor as well as the condenser failed. And the Honda mechanic himself told me that the compressor likely failed due to the strain of the faulty condenser. I then receive the extended warranty for the compressor shaft seal. As it turns out my compressor shaft seal failed which caused the compressor to seize completely. So they’re now asking for $3000+ to replace the compressor. To cover their own ass they put out an extended warranty to cover the compressor shaft seal, and one would think they would cover the compressor that seized due to that faulty shaft seal. However they don’t and will not. The fact that I have had to take time off of work every single year, leave my car with them for days at a time, most Honda dealerships not offering loaner vehicles, even when the issue is their fault. So I have to take 2/3 days off of work. I spoke with a Honda cares employee all last summer regarding the compressor. They tried to lie and say my ac isn’t working because of the mileage. However Honda plainly states that they are willing to back certain parts of the ac system with unlimited mileage. So how does mileage have an effect on one part of the compressor but not on another part of the compressor or the condenser as a whole? My car may have a little bit of high miles but my car is in great shape, I have it serviced regularly, my miles are mostly highway miles from commuting. I don’t beat on it, I’m not racing it, I don’t drive erratically. So Honda is saying they’ll cover the whole condenser, unlimited miles, for 10 years. They also say we’ll cover the shaft seal, 10 years, unlimited miles. But not the compressor itself? Doesn’t make sense. So these parts they’re willing to back for 10 years unlimited miles in their faulty ac system, but nothing else that breaks down within that same system due to their faulty parts. Suspicious? What this sounds like to me is “our cars are not reliable, after 100k miles you will have to fix everything” and I truly believe Honda has planned this from the beginning. They know that if they cover just the condenser, that the other components, will start to break down due to the strain of the broken condenser. I know that at a certain point, the consumer is responsible for fixing and paying out of pocket for things that begin to break down. However if it is starting to break from brand new essentially, 1 year in, and the parts that are breaking because of the faulty condenser and now broken shaft seals. A former certified mechanic who worked for Honda is dealing with the same thing, and has told me this. We have spoken with and attorney and I will be moving forward if Honda keeps giving us the go around. Our car is black with black interior . We cannot be in that car more than 10 minutes in the summer heat. We are struggling as a family with that being our only vehicle in the summertime to travel and get around to work, to school events, sports, extracurriculars, etc… The fact that Honda knows this is a manufacturer defect and the fact that they will only cover the faulty condenser that is putting a strain on the rest of the AC system then put a hefty bill on the consumer for the total repair is unacceptable. It’s like Groundhog Day with this car every summer. And every summer they ASSURE me that the problem has been permanently fixed and it won’t be an issue again. Until next year when it starts to get warm and low and behold the ac isn’t Working AGAIN. Last year I had finally had enough and reached out to Honda cares. WHAT A JOKE. They strung me along for weeks making me think they were “helping” me out and in the end basically told me to stick it. I believe once they realized that my car was already paid for and that I don’t have a loan with Honda that they no longer care what happens. Quite frankly they were rude, and didn’t care about the amount of money or time spent since the summer of 2017. So we’ve finally had enough and have contacted an attorney. I never received reimbursement from the first year I paid out of pocket for the repair of the condenser, nor the diagnostic fees they have charged. I’m completely done and I will never and will caution every person I know to never purchase a Honda again. They are horrible to their consumers. I invite anyone else who is dealing with these issues to further investigate the issue and if your condenser keeps breaking, or any other part of the ac wears down because of Hondas faulty part and you’re left with a hefty bill to fix the compressor and evaporator, which should be covered under the extended warranty. I invite you to hire a lawyer because the more people who hire a lawyer and let Honda know we’re not going anywhere and we’re not gonna take this anymore, hopefully Honda will fix this permanently and correctly for those of us who feel used and abused by Honda.
My 2018 ( bought new ) - A/C just started to blow hot air . Reading through the comments I think my local mechanic is my best option - paying $480 for a free seal Crazy rip off .
I had a 2017 CRV EXL AWD and after warranty replaced the rear differential, fuel injector line, recall for AC and oil dilution. Got rid of it and purchased a Toyota Highlander. Never looked back.
Rich, thanks for taking the time to create this very helpful video. I have a 2021 CRV included in the warranty extension group. The AC doesn't seem to cool as well as when new and so far the dealer has only been willing to do a visual inspection of the compressor, looking for oil residue. Not very high-tech and not really wanting to make good on defective manufacturing. As an alternative they proposed evacuating the system, weighing in a new charge, and injecting tracer dye to enable a more reliable check for leaks. All at my expense -- just under $400. I too have seen the posts online by other owners who had to pay for discharge hose replacement when the seal was replaced under warranty. That makes me wonder, if indeed the discharge hose has frequently failed along with the shaft seal, then why isn't the hose included in the warranty extension as well? Also, it appears to me the price being charged for the hose replacement includes the cost of evacuating and recharging the system, as if they wouldn't have to do that work for the seal replacement. The hose replacement should be a minimal charge since they have to evacuate and replace refrigerant as part of the shaft seal service. I'm still early in the process of dealing with this issue and I appreciate your video.
Thanks for your comment! This is definitely a frustrating issue. I talked to someone a few days ago with a 2019 CRV. The dealer charged them for the discharge hose but said the shaft seal was fine. I agree the hose should be included in the warranty extension, but I guess they don't want to cover a hose for 10 years. I'm wondering if my repaired AC will end up leaking again in a few years. Before this car I had a 4Runner for 16 years. The AC worked just fine for all 16 years with no maintenance whatsoever. My CRV will be the only Honda I ever own. At any rate, I'm glad the video was helpful. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I appreciate this heads up! this is the 2nd time I have bought a Honda, My first one was in 2010 didn't even have it 6 months and gave it back and I have only driven Toyota since and never had a problem. During the pandemic used vehicles were hard to find and I put it off getting a new one and finally bought one last year and got the 2022 CRV AWD Hybrid. I have not noticed a problem yet but that is great to know because I was already thinking about going back to a Toyota sienna all wheel drive hybrid instead... I always have had better luck with Toyotas and you just solidified my issues with Honda. Thank you for sharing!
This problem has nothing to do with a new refrigerant. I have a 2008 Civic that was intermittently blowing warm air.. the dealer charged me $1500 to replace the compressor with a re-manufactured unit. 90 day warranty. About 2 years later that compressor failed. This time the Honda dealer estimate to repair the Ac was $2200! I took the car to a local shop.. they replace the compressor with a re-manufactured unit and charge me $600. That was 2 years ago, still working great. Shop around for service! LOL @ 15% discount.. Honda service has turned crooked.
Thanks for your comment! That's a big price difference between the dealer and local shop! So yes, I think I will shop around next time. Thanks for watching!
I have the same issue, and have to pay for the half of the repair. It's obviously an issue of the manufacture, and recall is needed. I am wondering if there is a class action lawsuit or where to report to force them to do the recall
Back in 2005, I bought a brand new Honda minivan EX. Afew weeks after, I found the color of the bumper and the body is not exactly the same. Honda said this is normal because of different base material. Bumper is plastic, body is metal. Did not make sense to me. Honda refused to fix. Back in 2011, I got transmission issues. Honda quoted 2,700 to replace the unit. I brought it to a small carshop, they flushed the transmission, cost 160. Honda told me this kind of fixing will last 3 months only and then problem will come back. In reality, the CRV still running to date.
Thanks for sharing your experience.. I'm having the same issue..i only have the car 7 months now and the ac is not blowing cold no more..the plan is to get it fix under the warranty if I'm lucky and trade it in asap..i think this time I'll get a Toyota product instead..
I have a 2018 CRV and it did not blow cold air last October. I searched the problem and found this TH-cam video. It is very likely my CRV has the same problem as everyone has shared here. I called the local Honda Service center about the same problem and I got the same response from the dealer. I just bought the R-1234yf refrigerant recharge kit from Amazon and want to add the refrigerant by myself before sending the vehicle to the dealer for a check. After reading the other owners comments, I am not sure I should recharge the refrigerant myself first. It may be better just send it to the dealer and accept the higher charge. Because the AC is a closed system. Sooner or later it will repair the whole compressor and the hose. It is hard to make the decision. .
My AC acted up a few months before Honda contacted me. Similar experience fee to diagnose. The compressor was covered under warranty. That was last July. Several days ago AC started acting up again. No cold air. I have 74,000 miles on this vehicle always maintained it. I ready to give up trade it in for a different brand. No more Honda for me.
Thanks for sharing your story! My AC quit blowing cold air on the drivers side - called Honda and they said it would be $500 to diagnose. Forget that - called a mechanic and inquired about pricing there - he told me there was a warranty extension on the condenser and should try to reach out to Honda first (interesting that Honda had my file pulled up when I called them and I have had many many services done there before and they NEVER mentioned a warranty extension). Called them back and I said, ok, I want to come in for this specific inspection related to that issue and they said I still have to pay the $500. Dang, I understand about diagnostic fees, but if there's a known issue with the AC couldn't they just lower the diagnostic fee to a more reasonable amount? Good luck everyone!
I’m having the exact same issue it started a month ago. I have a 2016 CRV. Since it’s getting cooler out now and the AC works great for the first 20 minutes that it’s on I haven’t taken it in yet. Not sure if I should get it fixed now or wait until spring….thanks for the video.🙏🏼
Honda covered the cost of my 2017 touring AC issue last July here it is summer again no cold air. I’m scheduled for an appointment this week to see what’s the problem now. The charge to evaluate this current issue is quoted at $200. I’m ready to give up with Honda.
I wish my dealer was $200 for diag. Mine is charging me $400 just to check. It makes me not wanna buy any hondas anymore. Ive had quite a few too that i bought from the same dealer. Also had an issue where honda never removed old oil from my car and double filled it putting my car in limp mode and when i told them about the problem the service guy laughed in my face but when it was found out that was the problem he told me and never apologized about me being right.
@@schochy13 I feel you on the cost - mine is charging $500! What a racket! My appointment is on Tuesday and I almost wonder if it's worth taking in, but I'm in California and it's been HOT, HOT, HOT here lately so I guess I'm just stuck paying and hoping they say it's the compressor and getting that $$$ back.
My son's 2017 Honda accord had the same problem and the same run around that you had. While you were telling the store were both laughing because it was the exact same run around and the funnier thing is I was on the lot looking to close on a new pick-up truck but walked off the lot because of the run around.
I'm just waiting for Honda to call me back saying my car is ready. I just paid $440 in December to have a/c "fixed" and now it's not working again. However they said this time it is covered by the extended warranty. I have 80,000 km on it. As I read John1950's comment, I thought that also will be looking at a different SUV - Toyota RAV4.
As someone technically inclined, i understand what they're saying but you're also right to be warry. The ac system is a sealed system, so if a seal leaks it can impact the entire system. Debris Can get in. So they should(!) Be responsible for the integrity of the entire system. But they're not, until someone rich enough sues them. The back and forth about refilling ac with gas is also bullshit. Their machine might not allow them to refill the system. But any tech with a triple ac gauge, a vacuum compressor, and a tank of freeon can get you by. It's an automated system vs a manual system of doing the job. They saved money on materials and labor by bullshitting you. It's not fair to consumers. That's how this country has always been. $480 out the door for a fixed ac system is a deal in comparison though. I hope you don't have any issues and i don't believe you will, the odds are in your favor. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Thanks for your comment! I hope you're right that I won't have any more issues with my A/C. It can get expensive! But I agree that $480 probably wasn't too bad compared to what it could have been. Thanks for watching!
Brought mine in and got the same story one part covered but discharge hose not fishy how everyone is getting the same diagnosis!! Honda should be replacing the hose under this warranty extension
100%! If it's an ALL in 1 fix and seal cannot be replaced w/o all the other elements needed. THEN YES! Because It's an all encompassing job. Clearly--Common Sense. But that doesn't make them $$$
So... I have a 2016 civic, Ac quite last summer, there's a recall(ish), or advisory for the Ac condencer, 7 year old car with over 200,000k, I brought this car used in 2018 with over 100,000k on it I heard about the advisory and called Honda, in Manitoba Canada, they explained that yes there may be an issue but they would have to test system to confirm problem, if condensor repair at n/c, if something else, there would be a $75.00, inspection fee, note this is normal forward the industry and should come as no Surprise, I crosses my fingers, dropped car off at 5om for next day service, got an call at 2 pm, all fixed under warranty, n/ charge. Yippy, great service good people, Now in spring 2014, my Ac quite again. I had recieved a letter regarding Ac comp frt seal coverage, I called Honda again, same story. Inspect, if warranty n/c. Dropped car end of day, got called in on, all ready, n/c under warranty, doubled yippy, It's now near end of July, and Guess what, it's quite again, I have a feeling myself luck has run out, am calling, dealer tomorrow for another appointment, finger's double 🤞 Otherwise this has been an excellent vehicle, To bad Honda doesn't makes their own Ac parts, I'm sure they would do better than their current supplier, as a side note, The New Freon is ultra expensive, v)S The old, I sell the stuff and can state that the Old juice sells to a deaker at,approx. $200 bucks for a 25 lb. Bottle, the New stuff sells AT $855.00 for a 19lb. Bottle, now you know why they don't just stuff it in a leaky system. Cheers, wish me luck
Let us know if your A/C has problems again. Many people have reported that they have taken their vehicle in for the A/C only to have problems again a year later
Similar experience as Rich brought it in told in advance of diagnostic fee. Repair covered. Now summer again and AC not working. Time for me to give up the Honda brand.
They should have shown either a video or picture of the dye leaking from the hose or a leak detector screen shot to give you to have proof the hose was leaking. The new 1234yf refrigerant is very expensive and easier to leak but it’s not the reason for parts to fail. Seems convenient that they had to replace another part so they can actually make money on the job without showing you proof when you questioned them.
2017 Honda crv not blowing cold air i changed the compressor still not working. Didn't take it to honda yet planning take in there tomorrow , i don't know what to expect
My 2017 Crv is now going in for the A/C for the 2nd time in 1 year. The car has only 19K miles. My 2019civic had the same issue last year, and also has the same service bulletin. Ridiculous!
Here it is summer again and my 2017 AC is now not blowing cold air. I got the bulletin last summer went to dealer was told about diagnostic fee. Work was covered by Honda. A class action suit is needed.
@@JohnL1950 my 2nd visit repair was covered by this bulletin. Luckily I had the extended warranty for the 1st visit which was some kind of hose? They quoted like $1400 with the diagnostic fee. the civic was covered by Honda cause we had just bought the car that year. there is a definite pattern here.
thank for sharing, it is really help to know what is going on about this crv. I think they just want to charge us some money to say the other host leaking, anyway, it not matter now. , I just replace the hose and seal without charged today due to car under 3 years , i hope it can be good for some time. but I still paid for ac system cleaning up $150 and brake system oil change $150. free front windshield wiper. work done in hongmington NY
went because of recall notice air was not working 2nd time in 2 years .(Bianci honda Erie pa) first time they filled with freon worked , 209.00 cost. 2nd time said recall didn't cover and wanted to charge me 2900.00 to replace system . WTF bought condenser 85.00 replaced had new freon put in 120.00 works great!! dealerships should be ashamed of them selves for Screwing the consumer !!! Suck it Honda!!
Similar story. 2020 CRV sluggish ac not cooling properly and constantly cycling. I too got the $190 charge for diagnostic story. Now I get told they can’t do the job because I have the wrong refrigerant in my system. They can’t touch it and they don’t have the equipment to remove it. I told my brother the car mechanic the story. He looked at my system and said there is no way they could put the wrong gas in the system without changing the fittings. So now I don’t know what to do. I’m finding it very hard to believe a word they tell me and they are just finding ways to make the customer foot the bill for this extended warranty. Another problem I see with the repair to the discharge hose is that if it’s 1234 gas caused the leak in that what will start leaking next. Is Honda the only manufacturer who uses this gas? Anyone else having this problem? The really scary one though is what next!
I contacted four different dealers and none of them would touch my car when I mentioned the extended warranty for the a c I have a 2019 civic si. All I get is the run around from the dealers.
Same here, on our 2017, AC stopped working got the letter and then the compressor locked up. Honda dealership said it wasn’t related to the shaft seal and said $2700. So if a seal lets the refrigerant and refrigerant oil leak out wouldn’t that cause the compressor to lock up? no oil- because the seal failed. It’s a 2017 Great car other than this disappointing how the dealers are handling it
Are you charged for diagnostic service? Today I face same problem for my 2017 honda civic so I called about this to honda and they told me it’s not recall it’s warranty extension so you need to book appointment for diagnostic and it will cost around 143 CAD.
I had my seal replaced in my civic and 2 weeks later it was blowing hot again, dealer says compressor is bad but I feel the job wasn’t done properly. Not sure what to do
It's crap. The ac should have lasted. The part is cheap. Thing is. They had to evac the system anyways. I would have replaced the line and brought it back. My ford lasted close to 20 years before I rebuilt the whole system myself for around 800.00. I'm a back yard mechanic. Where there is a will there is a way.
Hey,Rich. Any plan to do a LED upgrade? We would love to collaborate with you on a product review and we have reached out to you via email for inquiring an opportunity. Look forward to hearing from you
See previous post. I will be filing a formal complaint with Honda Motor Corporation on Monday. In the meantime, warn your family and friends about this defective R1234yf A/C and DO NOT BUY A HONDA! And the funny thing about all this is that my nephew was the general manager of the Honda dealership that I bought my car from!😠
My 2018 CRV with 24,000 miles was blowing hot air. The dealer put in new refridgerant and a dye and ask me to drive ita bit and then bring iit back to check for leaks. Thiis cost me $430.00. I drive it and return to the dealer to check for leaks. Sure enough it had leaks. The compresor seal leaks and the suction hose leaks. The compressor seal will be fixed for no charge and the suction hose will be fixed for .. wait for it,.. $1088.00. Anyone wanna buy a 2018 CRV ?
It’s funny I have the same situation They cannot fill up the Freon because it would leak and there is environmental population and I have to pay 400$ for pipe
Thanks for watching!! I just talked to yet another person the other day with same problem... about $400 for AC discharge hose, in a 2019 CRV. Thanks again!
Got a 2020 accord and its like Click and Clack or the Rice Krispie little guys are in there having a party when the a/c is off. I already know how to fix the issue, but for now I just turn my a/c on to avoid listening to the typewriter like sound. Unbelievable that Hondas are not what they used to be. The break hold also sticks and you end up wearing out the rear driver side break. Of course they blame you as the driver saying you brake too much 😂😂😂 little did they know I had already researched and knew its a manufacturing problem. If the odometer gies past the warranty mileage you're out of luck and have to pay out of pocket. What bamboozling of consumers.
I have a Honda civic 2019. Bought it brand new.. the ac started acting up going into my 5th year of owning the car with less than 24k miles..anyway, long story short, they wanted to charge me 3,326$ for a new ac evaporator and discharge hose. They “fixed” it and now I have to take it back in because it’s not cooling properly. I have to turn it on the highest setting for my car to feel any coolness .. it’s shooting cold air but my car isn’t cold.. if that makes any sense🤦🏻♀️..if anyone who’s reading this know why this is happening please comment.. I just feel they’re taking advantage of me because I’m a female who knows nothing about cars 😬 🫤
They tried to charge me 3k for my ac compressor say not working even on paid extended warranty, i said not to, and addibg on freon it works fine, they always do stuffs with out the eye of customer and do what ever they want.
Glad you posted to share your experience. Getting the same response from a ventura county dealer. Quoted $900+ to do the prerequisite AC hose replacement. Can others post/share in the comments which dealers in Southern California are quoting for less so we can all try to get the best prices?
I am having the issue now. Honda should recall this.
Just took my 2020 Honda Civic Sport(bought Aug. 2020) in for the SECOND time. The first was November 2022 with around 10k on the odometer. They tried to charge me $600 as the A/C only has warranty for 2 years. I raised HELL and they covered the cost.
We will never be buying another Honda, that's for sure.
crv's rarely have a condenser issue it happens more on the civic and accord
another issue they run into is that high pressure sensor wire breaks as well
This is day 2 of year 2 out of FIVE years of my attempt attempt with Honda of America to fix the ac recall on my 2016 honda civic.
Suspicious?
What this sounds like to me is “our cars are not reliable, after 100k miles you will have to fix everything” and I truly believe
Honda has planned this from the beginning.
We are struggling as a family with that being our only vehicle in the summertime to travel and get around to work, to school events, sports, extracurriculars, etc…
The fact that Honda knows this is a manufacturer defect and the fact that they will only cover the faulty condenser that is putting a strain on the rest of the AC system then put a hefty bill on the consumer for the total repair is unacceptable.
It’s like Groundhog Day with this car every summer. And every summer they ASSURE me that the problem has been permanently fixed and it won’t be an issue again. Until next year when it starts to get warm and low and behold the ac isn’t
Working AGAIN.
Reading through the comments I think my local mechanic
is my best option - paying $480 for a free seal Crazy rip off .
You're welcome, and glad the video was helpful! I had a Toyota 4Runner for 16 years. It was such a great car! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Just took my car in for the same reason, this was my first and last Honda
Putchased a 21 crx ex 2 months ago. Rarely drive the car, today i turned the ac on and no cold air. Im going to have it checked tomorrow
Thanks. I am dealing with this now. I feel better equipped and know what to expect when I call a dealer.
Glad the video was helpful! I hope things go well with the dealer. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Same problem with 2018 accord condenser went which was covered then leaks in lines and to top that then compressor went 3g later.
Terry I’m trying one more time $200 to see what’s going on.
But that doesn't make them $$$
So...
I have a 2016 civic, Ac quite last summer, there's a recall(ish), or advisory for the Ac condencer, 7 year old car with over 200,000k, I brought this car used in 2018 with over 100,000k on it
I heard about the advisory and called Honda, in Manitoba Canada, they explained that yes there may be an issue but they would have to test system to confirm problem, if condensor repair at n/c, if something else, there would be a $75.00, inspection fee, note this is normal forward the industry and should come as no Surprise, I crosses my fingers, dropped car off at 5om for next day service, got an call at 2 pm, all fixed under warranty, n/ charge. Yippy, great service good people,
Now in spring 2014, my Ac quite again. I had recieved a letter regarding Ac comp frt seal coverage, I called Honda again, same story. Inspect, if warranty n/c.
Dropped car end of day, got called in on, all ready, n/c under warranty, doubled yippy,
It's now near end of July, and Guess what, it's quite again, I have a feeling myself luck has run out, am calling, dealer tomorrow for another appointment, finger's double 🤞
Otherwise this has been an excellent vehicle,
To bad Honda doesn't makes their own Ac parts, I'm sure they would do better than their current supplier, as a side note,
The New Freon is ultra expensive, v)S The old, I sell the stuff and can state that the
Old juice sells to a deaker at,approx. $200 bucks for a 25 lb. Bottle, the New stuff sells AT $855.00 for a 19lb. Bottle, now you know why they don't just stuff it in a leaky system.
Cheers, wish me luck
Same AC issue with my 2016 Honda CRV EX-L
I wonder what percentage of these CRV's AC will fail? I have a 2019, I wonder if I just just sell it while it has no issues.
Do it
@@isaacmartinez3843 why? based on what info?
Thanks for sharing. I have a 2017 CRV and the AC is acting just as you described, thanks for the heads-up.
bringing mine in for a 2nd time, car only has 19K miles on it....
Same $hit happened to me brother. Hondas ripping us off now yall. Stay with the toyotas yall
thank for sharing, it is really help to know what is going on about this crv.
My issue with 2021 Honda CRV the air works on right side and back but not on driver side to include unit next to drivers door. Blows warm air.
I appreciate your video and the information as my sisters CRV has the same probelm and we charged already once so we know what to do next.
I contacted four different dealers and none of them would touch my car when I mentioned the extended warranty for the a c I have a 2019 civic si. All I get is the run around from the dealers.
i have the same problem with honda ridgeline 2021 and just 28000 miles, they try to charge me $1900 clutch seal melted
It’s a 2017 Great car other than this disappointing how the dealers are handling it
Man i called and they quoted me $300 for diagnostic. Forget that. Id just recharge it for $60
Lol. Dealers don't make much money on warranty. They made it up and some by lieing to you about the hose. Lol
Is your AC still working? Updates?
Are you charged for diagnostic service? Today I face same problem for my 2017 honda civic so I called about this to honda and they told me it’s not recall it’s warranty extension so you need to book appointment for diagnostic and it will cost around 143 CAD.
I’m bringing my 2019 in this week. $180 CAD an hour to diagnose but he said it shouldn’t take an hour.
@@frankyu6984 my car was done work in free of cost because of problems solved in warranty extension. Even not charged for diagnostic.
Oh wow thank you so much. I almost to pay for new compressor for my civic.
I have a 20 year crv and it has the original equipment and works still at 300k miles 😅
I had my seal replaced in my civic and 2 weeks later it was blowing hot again, dealer says compressor is bad but I feel the job wasn’t done properly. Not sure what to do
Very typical dealership service.
@ I had another dealer give it a try, it worked a little longer then compressor locked up after about a month
Thanks for your comment! I agree the A/C should have lasted longer. My car is only 6 years old. Thanks for watching!
Just noticed a leak on my 19 crv. I got the letter over a month ago
This is why I buy a HondaCare policy every time I buy a new Honda. 6-year/80,000 mile policy was around $700, with NO deductible.
And the funny thing about all this is that my nephew was the general manager of the Honda dealership that I bought my car from!😠
Are Mexican cars using this refrigerant
Yes sr
My 2018 CRV with 24,000 miles was blowing hot air. The dealer put in new refridgerant and a dye and ask me to drive ita bit and then bring iit back to check for leaks. Thiis cost me $430.00. I drive it and return to the dealer to check for leaks. Sure enough it had leaks. The compresor seal leaks and the suction hose leaks. The compressor seal will be fixed for no charge and the suction hose will be fixed for .. wait for it,.. $1088.00. Anyone wanna buy a 2018 CRV ?
It’s funny I have the same situation
They cannot fill up the Freon because it would leak and there is environmental population and I have to pay 400$ for pipe
Bottom line dealers will charge you for something else to make up for the warranty work
Honda you hard for money or WHAT!!!
I don’t understand why you’re so surprised they charge a diagnostic fee. The AC system is comprised of many parts.
Honda has a problem with their air conditioners. They should take care of it and all associated costs.
@@philvanduynI agree..
What terrible customer service. Never buy a Honda again
so Honda cars are now junk.
Wow u like to hear your own voice. This video could of been a 1/3 of the time.
Same thing happening here
They tried to charge me 3k for my ac compressor say not working even on paid extended warranty, i said not to, and addibg on freon it works fine, they always do stuffs with out the eye of customer and do what ever they want.
