I was in a downward spiral even though I don't use social media. So I cut myself off internet for a few days, put on a dress that I haven't worn for years, and some heels, and went to town and smiled at people. It completely turned my mood around :)
It's not just seeing other people who seem to look better than you, but there is a lot of negativity online, just in the news and in videos criticizing people, so it's best just to stay away. Criticism is just not a good look.

People in my family struggle to lose weight. I gained over 100 pounds when I quit smoking in my 20's and was never able to get it all off. I would look at those people that were thin and wish I was thinner, but then I focus on all the things I can do that they probably can't. We are our own worse critics . It is hard to focus on self love with so much hate on Facebook. I am glad I deleted mine.

I went almost a year of washing my face and brushing my teeth without looking in the mirror. After my divorce I gained 40+lbs and was ashamed of how I looked. I also started wearing the same clothes over and over. After I started losing and coming back into my self-confidence I promised to ❤️ myself more regardless of what a man made me feel. I now dress for me and even though my boyfriend is very supportive, I focus on what makes me happy and smile first. Your tips were spot on like always. 👍

Sooo right about clutter, over-stuffed closets and drawers, messy homes, and a choice to continue living in disorganization. We have no excuse as so many folks are addressing it now through all forms of media. Who in the western world doesn't know who Marie Kondo is!? I'd really love to peek into the homes of these media-hawks though, lol! Thanks for the very simple and practical suggestions you shared today, Frederique.

I deleted my Facebook because of negativity and actually started losing weight after struggling for years. It turns out that those support group and workout groups are not helpful , especially when you can't lose weight while everyone else is losing. I found Marie Anne Lecoeur's TH-cam and she has inspired me to keep fighting to lose weight. Then I found your channel which is also very inspiring. I am thankful for these videos.

I have been working on a declutter and home improvement project for the past year, and it has been the greatest mood lifter. It took a month to declutter, and several more to paint and refinish surfaces, but the difference it has made is immeasurable. I tackled my wardrobe more recently. I had office clothing from 10-15 years ago (classic style and still wearable) that I didn't need and finally donated. I switched to wood hangers when I downsized my closet, sort of like a trade-off, I guess.

I can relate to your love of the LED lights. I put puck and strip lights in every cabinet, closet , and recessed area of my house. I think improving functionality in spaces can be just as uplifting as cleaning and decoration.

Light is very important. In case you don't have enough light, I would really recommend light therapy lamp (SAD lamp). I bought one for myself and it has been really helpful as I'm living in a country where we have only limited amount of daylight during winter.

I found this video very reaffirming, clarifying, and comforting. In my journey through all your videos I have definitely defined my likes, dislikes, preferences, and pinpointed my particular style - I am extremely comfortable in myself now and truly cherish the things I have kept and how they make me feel. I don’t miss any of the things I jettisoned. I find it so easy to like an item I see, but now I know to just walk away from it because it’s “not me.” You have been such a wonderful guide and an enormous help.

I slowly decluttered and redesigned my wardrobe over 2021-til now…Now I slide my closet door open, and I smile, because everything is visible and waiting for me to wear it…I did it slowly as I am now 61 and went through some losses - needed a wardrobe tune up…Now I am checking out wardrobe Apps to post it all, so I can let the App guide me to do different outfits on top of how I already put things together…I also enlisted 2 of my friends to help, and to join them to declutter their own wardrobes..Finally I have a Pinterest board of clothing and outfits I like…and I edit it once in a while…Fun and more Fun…Thanks for this timeline, Frédérique!!!

Vanity Sizes...that's real. I remember going to a store to get some black slacks. I was a size 8...had been for a long time. The girl helping me said I should try a size 6. I said "Oh no...I'm not a 6." She said "Trust me, these are Vanity Sizes". It was the first time I had ever heard of such a thing! 😳 Another great video! Thank you!

Tell me about it! I've not changed sizes except going from size 9 Junior size to 4 in Misses in my early 20s (40+ yrs ago)...now, I cannot find anything that fits me, unless it's a designer 0. (even 0s need to be taken in, I'm 5'5, 105 lbs) So I've solved everything by sewing my own clothes. It's the best bc I can create my wardrobe EXACTLY as I want!

De - cluttering is an ongoing process, I do this often the one area that challenges me is my wardrobe because I find it hard to throw things away so I do the next best thing I clear out all my winter clothes in the summer and visa versa in the winter so by the time I see them again it is a completely new wardrobe and it helps me focus on what I need to replace or don't so saving money.
For the rest of my house I am always looking at improving it

What a lovely video! So kind, caring and informative without being judgmental. Absolutely loved it. Have just become a subscriber as at the age of 61, very overweight, apple shaped and feeling so confused about my style, I need some help!! I have struggled with weight all my adult life and on the way have given up on looking stylish. It’s been hard enough to find clothes that fit and I have found it truly heartbreaking to have to become a bit of a blob! I am only 5ft 1” tall and wear sizes from 22 to 30 depending on the brand and style of clothes. I will be watching all your videos to see what I can do to bring a bit of style to my wardrobe. I had my colours done just before lockdown and I was analysed as cool, clear and deep! I like bright colours, but I think they can look cheap on me.🤷🏻‍♀️ I definitely need guidance!! Thank you for lifting me up a bit today xxx

I'm the same height and shape and cool and bright. There's a you tube channel called Cathy over 50 who addresses how to dress an apple shape. There is also a website called The Vivienne Files. She recently did a blog about dressing in a column of colour. It was very interesting. I'm am definitely going towards monochromatic dressing, for instance a navy top and pants, and letting a cardigan or purse be a pop of colour. Don't know where you live, however I have discovered retailers that sell petite plus size online, and it has been a game changer for me. We can't do much about our shape, but we can look for clothing that flatters. Best of luck!

I love this video!❤️ I'm a long time subscriber & this hit the nail on the head! Maybe because I'm much older I DON'T have the feeling of being "not as good" as the people I see on social media. I know who I am and am good with it lol (* took me a long time!) But seriously people are constantly seeing online people who look better or have nicer homes & clothes and you did a favor pointing it out for those who don't stop and think how fake most of it is!! Thank you! So many great tips, Frederique.. this was such a wonderful video. Yes please do the videos on finding what style we are. I know mine, but I'd definitely watch them and I'm sure many women will love that too. The pandemic years have touched the world and I think we've adjusted to a new normal and maybe through that now have a need for new inspiration regarding clothes and our new lifestyle. Love you bunches..take good care. We appreciate your hard work..xxx ❤️

It shows that this was a heartfelt video. But all of your videos are heartfelt. 😊
It may just be me - but it seems like there is time to watch, buy, keep, declutter and throw away - and start again but never any time to wear and enjoy what we have.
Take time to care of all the small details as well. They make a big difference.
I think the most important time in history for us was the 30’s-50’s all over the world. People everywhere dressed with pride and care. It was and still is a huge part of self care. Don’t ever let it slip away.

Thank you for this video. Excellent information to lift our mood. When I was working, I would always wear a bright color on Monday to cheer myself up. I am now retired and cleaned out my closet once but find going through things every season is a good gauge. BTW, I probably have five black tees in my closet right now. I did find that I owned 35 pairs of jeans on my first declutter…now maybe down to 12 - which is progress.

Frederique, Hi 😊 thank you for your video, I love all the ones I’ve watched from you. You made me laugh several times with your “click click click” so sweet in your accent. I started a clear out some two months ago and only took the things to the charity shop this week. I was going to sell items as some of them still had tags on them. Instead I took them all to charity and felt better. You have just prompted me to now de clutter as I hung onto so much stuff for sentimental reasons. I think you are a lovely person and you have a kind soul and you have a good influence on me. Thank you, much love ❤️

I'm in the process of "de-cluttering" which is emotionally tough for me. But, when I see I have made progress and think others can use what I can no longer use, I feel wonderful. You are beautiful as ever and my "go-to" for fashion advice. Much love from Northern California : )

Yes! Decluttering is the new black! I, like so many others lately, have been decluttering inside the house… so much stuff gone! Whew! Now I’ve been binging your videos and have discarded 95% of my wardrobe and have been building my dream capsule of beautiful neutrals, quality pieces and am on the search for the perfect trench. Thank you so much for your generosity in sharing your wisdom and knowledge😘😘

I do look to social media for outfit ideas but as far as the 'the people wearing them'... No. On social media, they're really not much different than a store mannequin that I look past that to see the clothes & how to pair different pieces from clothes to shoes, to accessories. Real women have curves! I've earned my 52 years & honestly, I wouldn't trade places with anyone.
When it comes to clutter... I don't know if it's being a Virgo or growing up with a brother & Dad who are slobs, or maybe I actually am a little OCD, but I HATE clutter & crap laying around where it doesn't belong, it drives me totally batty!!! I probably do have 'too much' around me but it's things I like &/or use & if it's not, off to Goodwill it goes. There's almost a euphoria that I get whenever I drive home from dropping off a load of stuff at Goodwill... It's incredible ;)
For lighting, I LOVE natural light as much as possible, we just got new windows & in my closet, I didn't put curtains back up, just two small stained glass panels. It's on the east side of the house so it gets the morning sun & it is SO bright in there, even with the soft, buttery-cream yellow paint (Sherwin Williams 'Banana Cream', it's also in our dining room, stairway & basement). In our master bath, I changed the tan valance with a sheer white roman shade, it gives privacy but still lets in a ton of light!
I know what you mean about clothing sizes, you have to try everything on so I wait to go clothes shopping until I do have time to do that, then I look everything over carefully for 'how easily will I be able to make small alterations' (if I need to open a waistband to string elastic through then close it up again, is it a hollow waistband?), and 'Is it worth my time to make any alterations or should I look for the same or similar in a different size, although when thrifting, this isn't always an option.

Frederique, I normally like your videos. I'm a Ph.D. and professor of nutrition and based on what I've heard on the video, I feel like rather than alleviating anxiety on this video you are setting expectations that are stress-producing. I was married in Paris and love your country and I've always loved that the French love little quirks here and there. I'm stressed out just hearing how I need to use tape and sewing and other things to look right. I can't imagine what young people feel about this. I tell my students that what matters is what happens inside and whatever happens that may be a gaffe...it's funny. Laugh at yourself. You're still ok.

Love how you are so truthful and authentic. Thank you so much! I sometime wonder how some influencers can have so many unboxing of Hermès stuff, for example. It makes sense that they may even borrow some items and present as their own. Of course, if they are wealthy then they do probably buy.

I love your content and I love how you make everything honest and relatable. I enjoy your beauty and fashion tips and your sense of humour too. Keep doing what you are doing! ❤️

Very timely, thank you. For all the good things about the internet the most destructive is social media especially for that cross section of deeply insecure young people who believe that all their cosmetically remade, photoshopped icons are REAL. It make me fear for their mental health and what they believe is important in this world
The K crew has had a truly devastating effect and they were only the beginning 😢

    I tapped out looong ago.
TH-cam has to be maneuvered carefully.
I follow you and a dietician who deciphers the TH-camr “What I eat in a day” videos. She’s real and eats real food.
