    Thank you for this demo, it is very helpful. I save the liners from boxs such as cereal, crackers, etc. Pretty much the same as wax paper plus I am up cycling the whole box as I have use for the cardboard as well. Us crafters, we do find a way don't we, LOL! If your a Mom....... HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!

    you can use cereal bags. I use it with polymer clay. Use the boxes to build a peg board.

    I’ve been wondering how to get quilling bits of the wax paper so a very helpful video thanks. Also good to see different papers that can be used.

    Thank you! In Brasil, for me, the wax paper is a little bit expensive (the cork board too) so I use plastic I grab from anywhere with a polystyrene board I grab from some boxes or so. Anyway, thank you for every tip and How to video you share. 😘😘😘

      I love the idea of reusing what you have! Cardboard is the perfect replacement for the cork boards 🤩

    Great experiment,I like the way the quilled pieces came off the parchment paper also.
    I have a question, I would like to do my quilled art piece on clear glass s12x16 ,so I can see the colours I need clearly but then would like to transfer unto a canvas. If possible I’d like to send you pictures of what I intend to do. I’m hoping you can give me tips on transferring the dry project without it falling apart. If that is not possible what could I put behind the glass once the project is done .

    • @ThePaperyCraftery
      @ThePaperyCraftery  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never tried quilling directly on glass so unfortunately I don't have a suggestion for that. I like the cork board because it has some give to it so it's easy to remove quilling. If you'd like to send a photo, you're welcome to email me at thepaperycraftery@gmail.com I may have a better answer if I see what you're thinking 🙂

    I use cheap white parchment paper and have not found a glue that sticks to it. I use it for quilling and when using a glue gun for that reason.

    Hi totally love your quilling videos. How do you start your paper so easily on the needle tool? My hand is not that steady.

    • @ThePaperyCraftery
      @ThePaperyCraftery  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really just takes practice. The idea is to use the hand not holding the tool to push the paper around the needle. But remember, many quillers prefer the slotted tool because it's easier to use. There are many styles with a slim working end if the crimp in the paper bothers you. I wish I had a better trick to share, but it really is just a "feel" thing 🙂

    • @wendywilson1736
      @wendywilson1736 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have tremor in my hands, also. So the slotted tool is my preference. I may have that little curly q in the center of my pieces, but, hey, that's part of my quilling.
      My biggest issue is gluing the little pieces together so they look decently arranged. So, tweezers is my other best friend in papercrafts. I use a lot of small intricate die cuts on my cards. Would Not be able to have them look like anything worth sending, if not for my tweezers!! My confirmation to that was a sweet text from my son in law thanking me for his birthday card, and commenting how detailed it was.
      Meredith, I appreciate this comparison experiment you did. I have some of those plastic sheets, I may try them, when I start back to doing some quilling after Christmas. Parchment paper looks like a good thing to use, to, which I also already have. Thank you!

    Did you ever do a quilling that looks like old man winter blowing? Like a silhouette ?

      I have not. I don't even think I've ever done any quilling at all that is a person 🙂

    Since this experiment, have you found one of these papers work best for on-edge quilling projects?

    • @ThePaperyCraftery
      @ThePaperyCraftery  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I still use wax paper the most because that's what I have a lot of, but parchment or a thin plastic sheet like the binder folders will work great too 🙂

  • @user-xw6lk1tr6o

    I'm super new to this. Why not stick the bits straight to paper?

    • @ThePaperyCraftery
      @ThePaperyCraftery  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some do, but this way you can use pins to make sure that your shapes are really close together for a more polished look. Also, you can play around and fix any mistakes without having them stuck to your final surface. I do have a couple videos making monograms where I make letters both ways so you can see the difference. But it's really personal preference 🙂
