Mixing traditional Mongolian instruments and vocals with modern metal instruments. Awesome. They also honor their women in "Song Of Women" with Lzzy Hale of Halestorm. They also did an incredible version of the Metallica song "Sad But True".

The band’s name translates to the Mongolian root word for human being, and their unique approach blends instruments like the Morin Khuur (horsehead fiddle), Tovshuur (Mongolian guitar), Tumur Khuur (jaw harp) and throat singing withcontemporary sounds, creating a unique sonic profile that they call “Hunnu Rock.”

They are awesome live. Saw them last year opening for Halestorm.
I'll watch later, I'll be at work during the premier.
Judging by the background, you did the official video. This is one of 3 songs redone with new English lyrics and guest vocalists. Wolf Totem was redone with Jacoby Shaddix (Papa Roach). The other 2 are Yuve Yuve Yu with Danny Case(From Ashes to New), and Song of Women with Lzzy Hale (Halestorm).

One of my favorite groups. They do a cover of Metallica's Sad But True. It's the throat singing that I love. Their instruments are the Morin Kuur or Horsehead Fiddle, Tovshuu (Mongolian guitar ), Tumur Kuur (jaw harp) for your buzz. Of course if you watch some of the live recordings at the Studio, you add all of the different drums and guitars. There's a whole bunch of people in studio. I've been listening to this band for years. They came to Boston not too long ago, unfortunately I am disabled and had no way to go see them in the city an hour away. Great reaction ✌❤😎

The Hu: This band was founded in 2016. The syllable Hu in the band name is the Mongolian root for the word human. The band name roughly translates as 'the people'. The band's logo shows a snow leopard. The band chose this animal because of its mythical significance. Among other things, it is said to be a symbolic animal for ancient Mongolian tribes.
The four members of the band, Gala (Singer), Jaya (Singer), Enkush (Mongolian horse head violin, Undertone singing) and Temka (Mongolian Gitarre), all have degrees in music from the Mongolian State Conservatory. Jaya teaches there under his real name G. Nyamjantsan. The HU have modified and strengthened their instruments, which were mostly played sitting down.
The Hu call their style of music Hunnu Rock. They use traditional Mongolian musical instruments such as the horse head violin, the Mongolian guitar and also employ traditional Mongolian undertone singing. The HU have modified and strengthened their instruments, which were mostly played sitting down. From the field of heavy metal they mainly borrow the hammering basses for their music. (www)

I have attempted this technique and it is very difficult for me because I have breath control issues when singing anyways. The HU is a great band that sings about serious subjects in their songs. They invoke the rise of the spirit of the mighty Gehngis Khan and his ruling Khan daughters. They call against the oppression from Communist China and Russia. Who keep them down. They called for the return of the Mongolian warrior spirit that is missing in their society. The HU wants the return of the mighty Khan empire. True warriors at heart. I gathered this from many of their songs.

I hope they don't literally want the return of the empire of Genghis Khan since Genghis Kahn was responsible for killing over 10% of the earth's population at the time. Today that would be the equivalent of killing every man, woman and child in North America and about half of everyone in South America. Or more pertinent to Mongolia, it would be doing a Thanos and wiping out half the combined populations of Russia and China. A country needs a warrior spirit for defense, just not the conquering kind, especially the Genghis Kahn conquering kind.

I believe the reference to "blue mane" is there because Mongolian babies are born with blueish spots at the base of the spine. These birthmarks usually disappear over time but for Mongolians it's naturally a very obvious identification sign and something that reminds them of their ancestry and ethnicity.

Their song Song of women ft. Lzzy Hale is gorgeous and delicate.
    Well worth listening to!
Funny you should mention the impact of low voices.
There's a compilation video of women reacting to Tim Fousts low notes. They all looked like their ovaries were having a party.
The low notes have an actual physical and emotional
    effect, I've felt it too.
Since you're into psychology, do you know anything about where that almost universal feeling in women to very low, male notes comes from? Left ove primal instinct?
I would love to know more about it.
Have you thought about doing a video about the physical and mental impact of music on the body and mind?

Garuda bird and blue maned lion is a Buddhist reference, you can find this lion in Tibetan flag or general Buddhist art. This lyrics is inspired by the Tsogt Taij of Khalkha Mongols who lived the during the civil war period of Mongolia. Mongols fractured into many warring tribes and fought not only among themselves but also with foreign forces such as china, russia and central asian muslims. Lyrics is not about offense but defense.

instrument name is MORIN KHUUR - mean HORSE VIOLIN coz we used real horse tail on violin strings. Horse violin is an instrument of very ancient music that has grown from our ancestors.GARUDA - is KHAN GARID its KING OF BIRDS of fairytail legendary bird. THis song mean words who u are we dont care if you want to conquer we fucked up you just it. When you are hostile, we will fight you, even if it is as small as an insect. When you're hostile, the lion is as strong as the tigers, but it doesn't matter we fight you just thats it. In our history, we have not been at peace with the fragile. During the time of the reconciliation, the Chinese always poisoned the brothers in the middle and killed one another. In the end, they awakened a son named Temple from among the afflicted people. He awakened all Mongolians and established Mongolia, and he defeated all his eight enemies. And then all the people gave him the name CHINGIS KHAAN. KHAAN is a KING. Do you understand the meaning of this song now?

You really should listen to Song of Woman with Lizzy Hale if you enjoyed this, Lizzy sings the translated lyrics in the song making a more accessable without losing any of its Mongolian power, Wolf Totem is simply a fantastic introduction to a great band mixing traditional and modern styles, there is something magical about The Hu

Loved watching you react to this. You should check out "Yuve Yuve Yu" and "Song of Woman" featuring Lzzy Hale from Halestorm. Their videos are visually stunning.

Another song by this group that you probably will like is "Yuve Yuve Yu". There are 2 groups from Mongolia that use the Shantz instrument, one is Shantz 3 and the other is Behi.

New subscriber, and love your insights. I'd love to learn from/experience your viewing of Wardruna's "Helvegen". There are a few versions, but I think I love the live one that features the artist Aurora as a guest. The most recent official one is great also. The song is kind of about mortality, and one I play a lot around Jul time as I process/honor the passing of my parents and consider my having "defaulted" into being the "elder" of my family. It also has a classic quote from Havamal, that I think inspired the whole song. Very primal.

Also, Wolf Totem is the favorite song of my granddaughters as they would "toddler stomp" around a bon fire in the Northwest during their times with "Grandpa". 🙂

This song is great on it's own merits but I think the version with Jacoby(Papa Roach) singing and adding the English into it took it to another level!

The numbers 10 100 1000 10000 refer to the divisions of the Mongolian Urdu or army organized by Genghis Khan with 10000 being the largest commanded by subutai and his sons

China built the great wall to keep the Mongolians from invading them and other southern areas. Mongolian DNA is around 15% in the Asia and Europe people, I read somewhere. We came, we saw, and we concurred, gives a new meaning to them.

There's actually a field of study called archaeoacoustics. Scientists have studied what's believed to be ancient shamanic ritual sites and noted that the acoustics in many such sites tend to generate low-frequency sound. It seems like such frequencies can change the state of consciousness of those present and even invoke mystical experiences.
Binaural beats is another technique associated with changing the brainwaves/state of consciousness using sound, where a sound in one frequency is played in one ear and a sound with a slightly different frequency in the other. The difference between the frequencies seems to affect the frequency of the brainwaves. I am not sure how much of this has been researched, but I know that this effect has at least some scientific support.

It should be the last song out of the storyline and new album should be dropping any day now. Listen to the heavy with the slide of the violin with the heavy. heaviest song up to date. Thanks!
