I love the part where he was saying that when as a child instead of playing with toys he played with plants, and summer had a knowing smile as if thinking same here.
Euphorbia abdelkuri! I love this plant. There are a handful of specimens growing on its native island. I never heard of seeds being available; I think all the plants on the market today are originated from cuttings of the few specimens collected in the 60s and 70s. Once again, thanks for taking us to that amazing market. That place is heaven. Anyway, if you return to the Bay Area, I would be happy to show you my succulent collection: mostly Euphorbiae from Madagascar and a few of these Socotra plants you showed in the video. I have over 200 plants crammed on a small balcony. I guess you know how that feels. :)
I have followed this guy’s career ever since he starred as the main character in The Tin Mine. From actor to lecturer to Green Thumb. A very satisfying metamorphosis. 👍
Wonderful video! He was so knowledgable and passionate about his plants. I wish every growers was so well versed in the origin and care of the plants they sell.
I saw this guy in his own greenhouse in a thai channel but I did not understand anything. Thank you keep up with these videos cause these guys are kings in cactus and succulents.
So awesome! this was such an interesting video, he is so passionate about his plants and his love of all plants, it was so fun listening to him talk about the interesting cacti and succulents he is growing, you can tell how much he loves what he does, when he talks about the plants he just radiates happiness. He has so many beautiful cacti that it makes me want to start collecting them and searching for the unique and interesting ones, I did pick up a madagascar palm, which is so cool, so far it likes where I have it growing. Thank you so much Summer this was fun, bye for now.
summer, i enjoyed this episode very much. brings back great memories, i had adenium socotranum, dorstenia gigas and dendrosicyos socotranus several years ago. i also found a weird euphorbia from socotra but had no luck growing it. there is a great book "caudiciform and pachycaul succlents" by rowley that is excellent. i have another book that i believe is just called "socatra". can't find it right now to give you the author but it is also excellent . your viewers should just watch some videos on socatra it is an amazing place.
One can appreciate and admire when a multi-talented individual chooses to pursue their true passion in life. ~ I recently was going to purchase a Dendrosicyos socotranus, about the same size as pictured herein, from a local grower who grew it from seed, which they mentioned was difficult to obtain. When I was told $75.00 , I decided to pass. I’m not so serious a collector as to justify such indulgence! ~ I believe only a few westerners are allowed to visit Socotra a week. Luckily the habitat is being protected. I think around 70% of the native plant species are endemic.
OMG it was sooo interesting!!! what he was saying about Socotra and that other island :O Summer, can you gooo theeeere??? pleaseeee! I am so intrigued!
google socatra, an amazing place. check out the dragon trees. it's off the coast of yemen so probably not safe to go there now. would make a great field trip though!
It would be great because this island has some of the most interesting and striking flora. but unfortunately it wouldn't be possible now. All touristic flights to Socotra have been cancelled since the war involving Yemen and Saudi Arabia started. The only flights remaining are connections with Abu Dhabi to provide Socotra residents with access to healthcare and work opportunities.
Thank you so much for this video...cacti and succulents are the greatest houseplants for ease of care and use of space...too few videos on these and especially the rare ones...🤗👍
Another really interesting video. That cube-shaped plant is very interesting. I'm curious now about it's selling price so I think I might check out Ebay.
Nice very interesting to see what we don't see here at the big box stores. My city doesn't have trendy stores like the big city's in the west and east shores of US
i think asia likes thailand and malaysia can survives many african plants from extinction.we have a great choice to buys african plants at singapore. markets;but i must be carefull acount of CITES species list.
Hi Deepa, in the previous episode we focused on all the succulents. This is just an add on bc the main video we wanted to focus on Chanin, who had passed. We wanted to give him his time to shine. Thank you for understanding.
I love the part where he was saying that when as a child instead of playing with toys he played with plants, and summer had a knowing smile as if thinking same here.
Told u guys
It's really nice how he starts smiling when he talks about his plants. Never heard of Socotra before, I'm learning so much from this channel :)
Very pleased you're learning from here
He just grown up

Wonderful video! He was so knowledgable and passionate about his plants. I wish every growers was so well versed in the origin and care of the plants they sell.
He seems very happy he has found his niche. Happy growing.
He does. My plan was to go see his greenhouse if we had time, but unfortunately we didn't have the time
The shared joy, passion and knowledge was totally palpable. Great plants and info. I love this sort of content 💓
He is really knowledgeable, I am happy. 😊

Socotra has the most alien-looking and interesting flora in the world, in my opinion! Would be stoked if you go there someday, Summer!
Perhaps! So far not much funding for botanical episodes; but I do what I can!
I hope someday you will be able to do that. 😊
his pseudolithos are awesome
never thought they needed high humidity
Very instructive and inspiring. Never knew the Pseudolithos needed a more humid air.

So interesting! Thanks for sharing!!!
So cool!!
The size of that euphorbia abdelkuri is amazing. So rare and expensive to find here in the states. I'd be happy with even a smaller one.
Another really interesting video. That cube-shaped plant is very interesting. I'm curious now about it's selling price so I think I might check out Ebay.

Smart guy 👍
Succulent 😍😍👏👏
I'd suggest Tuesday Jatujak plant Market. It's literally heaven on earth.
Though he doesn’t act anymore, but he’s the main character of one of the best Thai movie 😆
I'd imagine that Thailand could be a humid place as he mentioned. Not typically something many succulents could survive in my experience
It's very difficult to us in rainy season
Yes nice
I wish u ask him about his soil mix 😊
Should come to Australia. I am also an actor...turn succulent man. I have 100k members in my groups.
