What a beauty, Harriet! Many moons ago on holiday we drove down the coast of Spain, and suddenly and magically we came upon a beautiful white village.. I’ll never forget staying overnight at a beautiful spacious inn- across the road from the Mediterranean and surrounded by all-white houses such as the one depicted in your gorgeous painting. Thank you, Harriet, for this super tutorial which brought to mind such a lovely memory!

What an emotional ride! The smear of back…ahhh! Oh, never mind. Perfection! Such a great tutorial of light and shadow and not being afraid to cover all the hard work with black. 😅
haha, right?! I hope I've taken some of the fear out of shadows. And remember, a shadow is never pure black and it also fades as it dries.
Gorgeous painting and I definitely learned a few things. Also, don't mind about weather talk. I live in the UAE where it's impossibly hot. I wouldn't mind a spot of rain right now!

I am so thrilled with my result! I still need to work on maintaining white areas, they add so much to a painting. The way you do this is so amazing! I lost control of my stripes in the pot early on and I’m not thrilled with the cheaper paper I used but I’m going to do this one again for sure. Lovely, which eraser did you use to rub out the pencil?
I used a hard eraser from Factis, the "ink 30"
