To be honest: It is the players own fault... The player on his right side discarded a Pin 7 before why not discarding the same title too? Nope he discard a unsafe title willing risking that Hotei/Haitei could happen... So well

I started playing this game because yakuza game for 100% completionist on all the titles. I have fallen in love with this game in the beginning i hated it and now im top rank player participating in tournments.
Life is so ironic ive grew to love something i hated.

why do some of the discarded tiles look darker?

In replays, darker discarded tiles indicate if it was the most recently drawn tile (tsumogiri). This is a setting that can be toggled on/off on replays.
