LEGO Breaking The Rules - 10 Times LEGO Broke Their Guidelines

- Today I thought it would be fun to take a look at the rules and guidelines found on the LEGO Ideas website and cover just how many times LEGO themselves have gone against their rules.
This video is purely made for fun and I really like it when LEGO bend their own rules because it leads to fantastic sets like what's covered here in this video. Maybe someday I'll be lucky to have Halo and Matrix made available for me.... someday....

*literally the ark of the covenant released in two LEGO sets*
Some of the scenes from the Indiana Jones movies that made it into LEGO sets is insane.
The no guns rule confuses me so much because lego has consistently for years produced gun pieces and uses them to depict real guns in the sets they come in most of the time.
The original Agents line was a favourite of mine and I found the pistol pieces to be very useful in other themes. Eventually they introduced that massive alien gun pistol which they seem to use nowadays in everything instead and I think it’s their loophole because it really looks like a toy and not something you’d use in a Call of Duty.
5:53, I literally just finished watching S17E9 of Taskmaster before clicking on this video! 😄
Have not caught up with the current season yet. There’s been LEGO Ideas submissions before and it’s incredible ❤️
@@RayLilySeries Oh yeah, I remember the TM House set that didn't make it through. Quite a shame. I would've loved that set to have been released.
They’ve done brick-built lightsabers, blasters shouldn’t be an issue.
I think there’s definitely a reason behind why those sabers are GWP and also don’t feature actual blades. Would love to have them as proper sets released in stores.
Just a random nitpick, the solo sets dont have spice but coaxium, which is starship fuel.
Oh man, embarrassing. I thought I heard in Solo that spice and coaxium were the same thing, hence my excitement about seeing LEGO include the item in sets. Damn, my bad.
@RayLilySeries I mean we could say that the solo millennium falcon contains the Pyke head honcho of the spice mine, so equivalent to a drug lord/slave owner. That's pretty bad
Perfect
You missed the elephant in the room for religious buildings. They revealed the new Notre Dame set recently. Also I can think of the everyone is awesome set which clearly resembles a pride flag for the no political campaigns rule, also there’s swearing and racist jokes in Seinfeld. Also horror is a weird one cos they’ve been doing mummies and vampires for years
Actually recorded this maybe 2 days before that set was announced and this was literally my first thought, so maybe they’re changing their perspective on religious buildings.
the everyone is awesome set was made to show openness and tolerance because theres a lot of lgbt employees at lego. human rights should in no way be political
The blatant pride one annoys me even further with how the designer quite literally gloated that he was an activist, and was intentionally making more sets to promote his political views.
LEGO doesn't do a single thing about this guy's behavior _severely_ violating their personal guidelines, but they were so eager to try and discontinue the White House set, as well as unironically the entire Police and Fire line of City, all because of certain "mostly peaceful" crime sprees coordinated across the country.
Even though all they ultimately went through with was canceling an abandoned dynamite factory set, the fact that they seriously considered axeing some of their biggest heavy hitters over that for blatantly political reasons, that should scare any LEGO collector.
@@gayasslilyWhy do kids need to know about "that stuff" though? Last time I checked, showing kids that kind of stuff got you a prison sentence and on a watchlist.

Ah great video! On 7. Im pretty sure Lego had their own FPS in Bionicle Heroes (at least the Nintendo DS version I had was!). And on 8/warfare does anyone remember the WW1 fighter planes they made? 10226, 3451, 10024 😂
Oh that’s awesome on the Bionicle thing. I don’t think I knew about that.
Those fighter planes are insane. Great looking sets though lol
there is a notre dame set on the way i believe
It’s crazy, I had this all ready to go and just a couple of days before uploading, they announced this set. 🤯
Guys according to the lore, rainbow six siege are just using air soft guns so we could get Lego sets from them.
Amazing.
made the exact same video on my channel lol good video though, lot of interesting examples
So basically, Lego will have strict rules and find every loophole possible in them.
Essentially. I imagine if a license means something personal to the designers then they’ll try figuring out a loophole. It’s 100% what I would try do.
Lego ideas has said that bottles of rum on a pirate ship or in historical settings is ok to do
Interesting. Historical settings must fall into the same category then as the sci-fi setting like Star Wars. So long as it’s not modern day I guess.
This is the content I come to YT for
Agent smith appears in the lego Batman movie, odd that wasn’t mentioned when wanting matrix lego
Wasn’t released in any sets so it’s sore point for me personally lol
Haloooo😢😢😢😢 agreeeeee so much here, imagine a lego frigit, a lego pelican, lego wraith worthog ect... would buy them in a seconed
I just think the release of an Icons set of a Warthog would be such a successful selling item. Easily my most desired idea for a LEGO set in life currently.
would never happen, especially while mega has the halo license
well Matrix did exist in The LEGO Batman movie, just not in a set =P
If only Smith was included in any of the sets then 😔
LEGO's stance on violence, death, killing, etc really irks me. Particularly when it comes to what they will and won't do with LEGO Star Wars.
They've said they won't make play sets based off of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order because it is too violent; meanwhile, The Mandalorian features a scene wherein an Imperial officer executes 2 pilots before unaliving himself. That's just one of many, *many* examples.
Yeah they’ve made LEGO sets based on games with the same restriction rating as the Respawn Jedi games. Eventually we got the buildable BD-1 and now Cal is in an upcoming sets. I imagine they realised how much success they’ve missed from skipping the games and we’ll see something in the future.
