    The tip of the overflow pipe had actually snapped off inside the old housing. Which is why the new one looks prouder. I had the same problem with a minor leak cased by this and had to dig the snapped end out with tiny hook made from a coat hanger so that the replacement would fit. This video helped me spot the problem as the crustyness was covering up the breakage. Thank you.

    Vauxhall:
    lets make a vital part of the cooling system that handles scolding hot coolant out of plastic. Ingenious.

    That’s was a great video very helpful,as it’s a common problem,
    I wish you had sent time lapsed the removal and fitting of the part,
    But very helpful though what was the specific name of that part please

    I have a leaking coolant Corsa 1.2.... and also a head gasket issue as the engine oil is now looking milky.

    Hi there, great video, wondering how much PSI should i load from my pressure pump to the coolant cap to spot the leak but not overload the system ?

    Where can I get the pressure test kit from? I think I got a small leak as mini puddles on drive and had the same issue as what your customer had. I’m wanting try everything before I go down the head gasket route as the engine was rebuilt apparently before I brought it. A week into owning a hose split so feel like possibly another leak somewhere?

    They also lose water from the big gasket behind the timing chain, the one the water pump goes against , if you’re losing water and your head gasket is good, no overheating, and a pressure test doesn’t reveal an external leak then it’s most likely that, I’ve done loads of them. May as well buy a chain kit cos it’s got to come off anyway, and it’s bound to be rattling. and sump and rocker gaskets, these engines can leak everywhere. But run forever.

      @MTMMotorServices  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yep you're right. Whenever I do head gaskets on these engines, the timing cover gasket which is part of the coolant pump gasket always looks to be leaking.

    i have the same car, i've got it into a garage so i don't know for sure that its the same issue, but i had topped up coolant before setting out on a drive, and not even a mile into the journey steam and possibly some smoke was coming from my car and the recovery guy told me there was no coolant in there at all. Do you see this alot on these cars?

    It would have been nice if you could have pointed out what bits needed to be removed and and where the bolts / screws were instead of fast forwarding through. I've got the same job to do tomorrow and I'm just guessing at what to undo. The three Torx bolts are the easy bits but the others aren't clear to me.

      @@MTMMotorServices Thanks for reply. I'll probably work it out but typical Vauxhall, that housing is a bit buried under a few things. Only had the car a few days and that little pipe blew off just as I was parking in a supermarket (big cloud of steam). The pipe doesn't clip properly and housing a bit worn. I'm replacing both.

      Hi, we used genuine vauxhall parts. There can sometimes be a variant of this part, What I would suggest is calling your local dealership, speak to the parts department. Give them your registration number so they can look up the spec of your car and ask them for a price on the part and also ask them for the part number. Then atleast you can use that partnumber to search online for cheaper alternatives.

    Great video. Can inask when u pressure tested the car did you need to plug the overfill spout? I tried pressure testing a Corsa and it was building no pressure for me to check for a leak. The car isnt losing coolant was.just.more curious to know

    • @MTMMotorServices
      @MTMMotorServices  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Arts&Trusts , if you’re using the correct adaptor, it should seal below the spout and at the thread base. If you take off the coolant cap you should see 2 seals. The adaptor you use to build pressure should look the same.

    Hi,
    I have the same car as you but for me the water in the tank keeps draining immediately and the thermostat on the dash keeps flashing red when I drive. Do you know what problem would be causing this as now my car overheats quickly, not sure why ?

    How would you go about emptying the old coolant completely and replacing with new one?

    • @MTMMotorServices
      @MTMMotorServices  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some radiators have a drain plug on the coolant radiator which you can undo. Otherwise you can take off the lowest coolant pipe and allow it to drain out that way.

    Fix it soon or your engine is cooked loool, had one that was cabletied for a while on the housing then head gasket went because air got into the cooling system and snuck into the combustion chamber

      if your coolant is is rich in antifreeze then normally there can be some staining on the engine which can be an indicator of where it could be leaking from. i would also put a coolant pressure tester on the system like in this video. it allows you to pressurise the system to force it out of where its leaking from. this is alot easier and safer than waiting for the car to come to temperature and pressurise itself.
