Very nice. For a touch more accuracy in your depiction of Gunny's Unertl lose the recoil spring. He took it off because it rattled. Also the feather is way too long. The one he wore in the bush was much shorter and smaller. Otherwise, nicely done and thanks for mentioning Burke.
Basically when Carlos Hathcock was mentioning this part he spoke how when his scope saw the glint and he shot in the direction, the bullet went through both end of the Cobras scope, through the eye and obliterated the left side of the snipers head. causing literal crainal evacuation (brain matter and skull matter due to the force and vacuum of the shot). Hathcock said that he was faster on the trigger as if the Cobra would've taken the shot at that moment, Carlos would've been dead. He also didn't hold any grudge toward the cobra, he had respect for his fellow enemy. There was another time where Carolos used a 50 cal machine gun and placed a powered scope on the top to use as a 50 cal sniper rifle to shoot at a Vietcong riding a bike that was carrying AK47 weaponry from a long distance.
Nearly a mile-and-a-half. It is thanks to Carlos Hathcock that the .50-caliber sniper rifle was invented. There was one named after him, the Lang Tran.
10:19 That's not actually true. The deadliest sniper of the Vietnam War with most confirmed kills was an Army sniper, SSG Adelbert Waldron, with the record of 109 kills in 8 months. He specialized in shooting from patrol boats, sometime while moving. Sadly, not as much is known about him compared to the famous Marine Corps snipers.
Hathcock isn't even officially the second deadliest, Chuck Mawhinney had 103 kills, and Eric England 98, but in all fairness, not all Hathcocks kills were confirmed as he often just headed off alone so the only records are the notes he wrote down himself. However, I'm fairly sure he was the best, considering the missions he went on.

One of the best memories of my time in the Suck was at the Scout/Sniper Instructors School in Quantico, Va. The class, I was part of, was about half made up of Marines. The other half were from Delta, Seals, Green Beanies and Rangers. We started with about 75 students. About 25 of us graduated. After each training section, the cadre pulled the class together and asked us for critiques about that session. At the Stalking section, during which you donned the Gillie suit you had made, slow-crawled about 1000 meters along a power line cut, set up your firing position and took your shot at your "targets" (them being several instructors who sat in the bed of a 6-by with tripod mounted spotting scopes and binos looking for you and radioing in “walkers” to lead them to your suspected position. If they find you, it's a Fail. You get one more chance. Fail again and you are sent home). Afterwards, at the critique, I said that this part of the training was insufficient. We were under a time limit (I can't recall if it was 2, 3 or 4 hours) to maneuver to a position within 250 meters of them, fire your first round, wait till a walker came within 10 feet of you, then fire once more). The time limit forced us to move with more speed then you would under combat conditions and to “cut corners”. I understood that the course only had so much time to teach us a shit load of knowledge, but stalking was too important to be rushed, I said. They should add another week to the course to give stalking the time it deserves. To back-up my opinion, I told the story of Master Sgt. Carlos Hathcock III's famous mission to kill a NVA General deep in North Vietnam. After a helo insertion, he took more than a day and a night slow-crawling though more than half a mile (800 meters) of a flat plain with no trees or bushes, just knee-high grass. Got to within 300 meters of the general's hootch and waited for the general to appear. He killed the SOB. Then, slow crawled back across that open plain while the company of NVA regulars assigned to guard the general furiously scoured the ground looking for him. That's the kind of training exercise we needed at the best sniper school in the world. I didn't know it then, but “Gunny” Hathcock had been a regular visitor to the school (which he and Major Land had fought long and hard to create) and was there back behind the truck with the rest of the cadre listening. The next day, we rotated out to the range for practice and Qual with our rifles. He came out to the range and did what ,an instructor later told me, was his routine. He picked one student and spotted for that shooter during the two days of range practice before qualifying began. Another of the cadre told me afterwards that I "was the first god-damned ‘yankee’ that The Man had ever picked to spot for.” For a glorious 3 hours in the morning, 3 hours in the afternoon and 3 more hours the next morning, I was tutored, in a slow Arkansas drawl, by the Finest Marine to get a solid cheek weld on a stock and proper eye relief to a scope. It will be one of the memories I’ll recall as I take my last breath on this earth. Semper Fidelis, White Feather.
"Sniping your enemy is like hunting any other animal. Fire at the wrong moment and your chance will be forever lost." - Viktor Reznov Felt very true in this story.
He is one of the most famous American snipers and he held the record for most confirmed kills for a long time. Ehite Feather even used an M2 Machine Gun with a scope on it for long range sniping.

Gunny Hathcock is a legend and the man who made the Scout Sniper Program. He is by far the best sniper in history as he did things that nobody else has

Damn, the animation is so crisp and beautiful. Excellent work folks! Any way you can make any footage related to Aztec Eagles, air squad 101 and / or 201?
Ah yes, the legendary Vietnam sniper himself, the man who in Mythbusters tried to replicate his famous sniper shot and "proved" that it was not physically possible despite the evidence and report that was written about the sniper engagement.
@@pontiacfan76 well he even said himself in the report and interviews that the shot he made was, "A one in a million shot" as he didn't aim properly, he saw the glint, focus sharply where it was and shot right away.
I believe it was because they used the wrong scope, or something along those measures. Jamie and Adam are usually really good about matching details perfectly or as close to perfect as possible, but they did make a mistake in that episode.
I was privileged to feed Gunny Hathcock lunch a number of times at a restaurant I manged in Virginia Beach. Pretty quiet guy but nice as they come. He was the definition of an Army of one. RIP Gunny Carlos Hathcock - Long Trang aka the White Feather

Another of the cadre told me afterwards that I "was the first god-damned ‘yankee’ that The Man had ever picked to spot for.”
For a glorious 3 hours in the morning, 3 hours in the afternoon and 3 more hours the next morning, I was tutored, in a slow Arkansas drawl, by the Finest Marine to get a solid cheek weld on a stock and proper eye relief to a scope.
It will be one of the memories I’ll recall as I take my last breath on this earth.
Semper Fidelis, White Feather.
"Sniping your enemy is like hunting any other animal. Fire at the wrong moment and your chance will be forever lost." - Viktor Reznov
Felt very true in this story.
that pred 1 reference was amazing haven’t seen a history channel do that before cool
Never heard of White Feather. They must be really covert.😊
He is one of the most famous American snipers and he held the record for most confirmed kills for a long time. Ehite Feather even used an M2 Machine Gun with a scope on it for long range sniping.
I've watched several videos that cover the same topic but I am proud to say that no other has covered this topic so well!
Been a faithful supporter of this channel for the past several years and have been witness to seeing its wonderful videos and marvelling at the quality of the animation increasing year after year!
P.S - Yarnhub's video on Simo Häyhä (AKA The White Death) is also amazing! Wish they would make a reboot of that one too
Kudos to all your hard work and keep it up!
I've heard this story many times ,but NEVER to this detail, AMAZING job ,yall did it perfectly
Petition to give the narrator and animators a raise
This is probably the best yarnhub video i have ever watched and i have been watching since the ned kellys last stand video. keep up the good work!
Not gonna lie, the 3D animation looks very amazing
So many references here and well appreciated. Predator and Road Block (we don't acknowledge the Rock portrayal). Awesome work as always!
War is not a Game. War is Terrifying, as this episode shows.
It's un believable how much your animation has improved
Gunny Hathcock is a legend and the man who made the Scout Sniper Program. He is by far the best sniper in history as he did things that nobody else has
The Finns might have something to say about that....Simo Hayha comes to might.
As always, top notch, it’s getting so much better than 5 years ago. (Edit I did start when it was 2d when the Tesla vid was fairly new)
The amount of mind games required to predict enemy movement is simply incredible. Imagine an air soft game mode where 2 snipers duel for the first shot. 4-D chess anyone?
These always make my day. Well done y’all!
Always wanted to see a Vietnam war video, thank you so much.
I love the Vietnam and World War One videos almost as much as I love the WW2 ones! Another great video btw
Ive heard of this story years ago! thanks for bringing it to life!! you guys rock!
Been watching for A little over a year and the animation blows me away. These are brilliant and I can’t believe I found this channel
I love the predator reference. I still prefer you guys use the narrators casual voice when quoting individuals. I think it sounds better.
After seeing that Predator reference all i could here during the jungle fight was the Predator theme. Thanks Yarnhub.
Thrilling, exhilarating and heart stopping 🔥🔥🔥🔥😮😮😮😮❤❤ video even better then 2hrs action 🎥 great work guys and a salute to "Yarnhub" team 🌟🌟🌟🌟.
I can't believe how good these videos have become. The graphics are amazing
Bro the animation quality on this vid is absolutely insane 🔥
Honestly one of your best videos yet! Fantastic work as always, Yarnhub!
(Edit, that predator reference was hilarious, with the cut off "GET TO THE CHOP-" *dies*)
It's like watching a good movie, graphics on this is awesome 👌👌
Its one thing to take out a bad guy, but another to do it through the bad guys scope. what a shot! Incredible marksman the white feather.
I loved your video about Carlos Hatchcock and how he discharged the North Vietnamese soldier you are incredible greetings from Mexico
Thank you very much for your history lessons, may there be many more to come!!!
SHUT UP!
this channel so good, thanks for the editor and the animation, i really enjoy it
Finally, I've been waiting for this video about him
Still been the most epic involvement of the US so far, hope you guys covered more of the VC insurgence and more overview about it.
i wonder why VC was considered an insurgent
@@imao4933 the viet cong were Southerners who sympathized with the North, and were fighting against the Republic of Vietnam's forces, making them insurgents. The PAVN (People's Army of Vietnam) were the military force of North Vietnam, and would not be considered insurgents.
@@stephenlawrence554 the ironic is almost every countryside peoples were sympathizers (the southern government was shit)
thats why the 1960 Dong Khoi movement worked, then we have the NLF (aka "VC insurgents")
Maybe the craziest sniper v sniper duel during the Vietnam war. This is a great one
This is epic! The work you guys put into these is amazing! I love your videos, been watching since "The Ghost Camaro".
The white feather vs The cobra US Marine officer Carlos Hathhock ( White feather) Legend ❤ and John Burke Elimination of terror base wow Amazing animation 👌 by Yarn Hub team 👏 The voice 🎤 narration 👌 semma super 😍
i have watched your content for 2 years my father love your content keep up with the good work!
This shot is legendary among trick shot competitions. Few have been able to pull it off and of those, none of them had vegetation or their lives on the line to contend with. Incredible.
Love his take on being a sniper. Enjoying the thrill of the hunt is one thing. Yet killing someone is not something to be proud of. Doing your job so that your brothers may live to see another day. That is something to be proud of.
I was hoping you could do an episode on “Swede” Vejtesa a legendary American pilot in the Pacific theater of WW2. He had a 20 minute dogfight in an SBD dauntless dive bomber against three zeros and survived! Then later in the war made history by downing seven enemy planes in one day in a fighter. I think it’s a great story would make a great video, thanks for all your content, its great!
The fact that this was all animated, modeled and voice acted is just insane to me, You guys are legends keep it up!
This is better than all predator movies combined! And this is real stuff!
I found this channel yesterday and have already watched more than 10 videos. Already feeling guilty that such high quality content is free if cost.
Damn, the animation is so crisp and beautiful. Excellent work folks! Any way you can make any footage related to Aztec Eagles, air squad 101 and / or 201?
researching it now
@@Yarnhubwords can't describe how happy I am for that.
A little “homage” to Predator there in the beginning? I love it!
Another classic yarnhub W
Has to be the best video you’ve ever made, been watching every Friday and seeing your animation improve each time :)
Bro carried the m2 machine like a boss
You are the best TH-camr ever I have studied the white feather so much he is the best
damn bruv, I started watching you when you released the Red Baron, and I'm quite amazed at the improvement.
Legend...
What else can one say.
Max respect Sgt. Carlos Hathcock...RIP.....
Lest we forget
sniper against sniper... An eye for an eye... At these times, you can only count on two things, LUCK, and GOD's help against your enemy...
Thank you for these amazing animation stories Yarnhub. Keep up the amazing work!
somehow you never fail at impressing me in every video.
I love this channel, I’ve followed it from 2d to this, much love ❤
Ah yes, the legendary Vietnam sniper himself, the man who in Mythbusters tried to replicate his famous sniper shot and "proved" that it was not physically possible despite the evidence and report that was written about the sniper engagement.
Could have been a 1 in a million chance that he did.
@@pontiacfan76 well he even said himself in the report and interviews that the shot he made was, "A one in a million shot" as he didn't aim properly, he saw the glint, focus sharply where it was and shot right away.
Amazing what you can do under pressure with out thinking about. Just a reflex reaction.
RIP Gunny Carlos Hathcock - Long Trang aka the White Feather
another excellent video by yarnhub, good work guys! love to see the progress made from the old 2d animations :)
You can't deny that both snipers were amazing. Every second means life and death for a sniper. This story is one of the best.
0:59 Man woke up and ignored the recoil
TH-cam wouldn’t let me play this video (and others) from my iPad through my AppleTV. I found a way around it. Just thought I’d let TH-cam know that. Great video Yarnhub!
That was great! Can't wait for more videos.
Beautiful, can’t wait to see what is next (of course i would have my hopes of some legendary stories but maybe someday i shall see them too.) have a good one yarnhub
