    source from wikipidia:
Jefferson Joseph DeBlanc (February 15, 1921 - November 22, 2007) was an American World War II Marine Corps fighter pilot and flying ace, credited with shooting down nine Japanese aircraft during two tours of duty in the Pacific at Guadalcanal and Okinawa. On January 31, 1943, despite mechanical problems with his aircraft, he pressed forward with a mission and shot down five Japanese aircraft in minutes before being shot down himself. DeBlanc parachuted to safety and was rescued by native islanders, traded for a sack of rice, and picked up by a Navy seaplane. He received the Medal of Honor for his actions that day. He served in the Marine Corps Reserve until 1972. In that time, he also taught school and completed graduate and doctoral degrees in math, physics and education.

I saw an extended interview with 1st Lieutenant DeBlanc. This video about him is very accurate. As a measure of his bravery, he knew when he launched off that day he would not make it back because of the fuel leak, but continued on knowing he'd be bailing out over water. He told the flight to watch for his raft on their flight back. He later said he continued on in the mission rather than turn back because his job was to protect the bombers. It was that simple, and that brave. Jefferson DeBlanc is a legend amongst combat aviators.

You'd be surprised how often we [myself and other, much better men I knew who served in combat over various wars] adopt that attitude. There comes a point of time where you no longer fear the outcome- other people depend on you to survive, and you'd like to think... well, you have to think, that they feel the same way about you.
Whether it is protecting bombers or throwing man after man into the line of fire to raise the odds of survival for a wounded friend, I've always said "you don't know who you really are unless you're willing to die for a 'maybe.'"

The people of Kolombangara island DO NOT speak TAGALOG. TAGALOG is the basis for the FILIPINO national language. TAGALOG is mostly spoken in the island of LUZON in the PHILIPPINES. Please make the necessary correction. Otherwise, people who knows how to speak FILIPINO will be laughing at this video.

"...just two days ealier ejected from another Wildcat...". Everyday I learn something new and fascinating. Especialy considering that while experimental ejection seats were tested during WW2, no plane in service had them and the Grumman F4F Wildcat certainly did not.

I JUST NOTICED YOU GUYS HIT AND ARE OVER 1 MILLION SUBS!!!!
It feels like yesterday I was sharing all your videos and cursing the fact you didn't have more subs. Now look at you! You're a bonafide YT channel 😂
Honestly tho. You deserve 10 times as many subs. All the hard work, the progress, the never ending pursuit for amazing story telling. Your videos now have voice actors, the sound editing on said V/A, the phenomenal improvement in animation.
    👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
    Bravo Yarnhub, Bravo!!!!!

Worth pointing out the men who "bought" DeBlanc were scouts for John Keenan who arranged the whole rescue. Keenan was an Australian naval officer working as a Coastwatcher behind Japanese lines. He saved a great many of Allied personnel.
