I dealt with this for over seven years. Been on multiple meds. Went into deep depression due to this horrifying disease. I am able to manage it a lot better now. I don't use any fragrances in any products anymore and never leave home without applying my sunscreen. Thanks Dr. Dray for sharing your insight on Rosecea. You advice is greatly appreciated.
I am finally at a decent point with my rosacea, however at the peak when I gave up the meds and lasers because they weren't working my skin was in horrific shape. I believe because of the broken barrier; I developed a contact allergy to synthetic fragrances in the environment. This was on top of the usual triggers. At that time, I could barely tolerate anything on my skin to try to help protect it. Fragrance is abundant in workplaces. I would go to work and cringe because I eventually would turn beet red and swollen. It was a nightmare and very difficult to deal with. The psychological toll of rosacea cannot be underestimated.

@Shalz- praying for you and hope things have since improved. I myself have had rosacea most of my life and I totally understand the depression with it. Keep up w your facial routine and that should control it. I use metrogel. Have you tried that?
So sorry for what you going through. I have mild rosacea and it made me very uncomfortable when someone asks me why my face is red. Hope you get better soon🙏
@@Novemberrain111 Thank you for your kind words. Yes, Metrogel was my first of many medications. It worked great for the few months and then Rosacea came back with a vengeance. After 4 dermatologists and one naturopathic doctor in seven years, I have gotten great results. I always take extra precautions in summer. One time my skin got so bad, someone made a comment about me having maggots on my face. I tried everything the doctors gave me. It took a lot of time, patience, even gut cleansing plus prescription medications to find some relief.
My rosacea has been controlled with no flare ups for 4 years now. Your Dr. Dray's channel has helped alot with this success. Avoidance of flare ups is necessary they really weakened my skin. Rosacea has given me some very painful times for 25 years even while working with my dermatologist and several rounds of antibiotics and laser treatments. My skin is much stronger now not having gone through the rosacea flares. Daily skin care makes all the difference. It's worth discussing that keeping the skincare habits to avoid flare ups have to stay in place. When a flare up happens it's a long road back comfortable skin. Scalp cleansing is essential to avoid demodex and other microbial imbalance. To avoid a bout with rosacea I have to maintain the following: gently clean my skin and scalp daily, use sulfur and zinc pyrithione in my face and scalp cleansing a couple times a week, avoid dry skin by moisturizing at least twice a day. I do have pale Type 1 skin so daily sunscreen includes cream or lotion application, sun hat, spf clothing, and umbrella. I waited until I had normal skin for 2 years before using Tretinoin and use it about 4 times per week and it proves to be very good for my skin health. I also need less laser treatments and they work for longer by avoiding rosacea flares.
May I ask what you use to cleanse your scalp? I think the mites move to my scalp(I'm starting to learn)I wash my hair once per week but not if that's happening! I just got a zinc face wash and a body/face sulfur bar & the difference already is WILD(I found these recs on Reddit). Do I just use the bar on my scalp & follow w my regular hair care? Thx!
Just started using ivermectin cream and for the first time in about 6-7 years my cheeks, forehead, and chin are 95% less pink/red/bumpy/and painful. I have definitely been pampering my skin and repairing my skin barrier. Things are looking up! 😊
Rosiver really helped me too. I did a full treatment (9 months I think? ). It didn't do much for the redness, but it got rid of the pustules and they never returned.
I have had rosacea since I was a young child & actually found your channel by looking for advice and recommendations regarding rosacea and potential treatments for it. Thank you for making another video addressing rosacea.
This is a great episode. Interesting about the potential link between rosacea and hormones, as my rosacea developed alongside my hormonal acne in my early 20s. Everybody needs such personalized treatment. Never had any luck with sulfur, but I've found great success treating my rosacea with OTC azelaic acid. I personally love Paula's Choice 10% azelaic acid with licorice root and salicylic acid. I purchased it after being denied insurance coverage for the incredibly expensive prescription strength stuff. I wash my face with only water in the morning and Cera Ve gentle cleanser at night. My rosacea doesn't even react to thermal stimuli or alcohol anymore, just direct sunlight and cold wind.
Happy Monday Dr. Dray. Praying for all affected by the weather. Rosacea is a tough pill and you provide much needed advice and information to your viewers and we so appreciate you.
Just diagnosed with Rosacea today after dealing with it for 1.5 yrs. I used Kate Somerville's sulfur daily cleanser ever since I started noticing the rosacea wasn't going away with my normal daily cleansing. It really helped calm everything down and go away. I didn't get any education on it when I met the doctor so I came on to TH-cam and found your video. Thanks for sharing!
I just learnt the other day Azelaic acid is good for Rosacea and found some in my drawer by The Ordinary and it’s made an immediate difference, I highly recommend it 👌🏻
I have rosacea and this is what ive found that has helped me. I use curology every night that has tretinoin, clindamycin phosphate, and azeleic acid. I put on the aveeno calm and restore gel cream before as a buffer. I put vaseline on my lips and eyelids. In the mornings i use finacea (azeleic acid 15%) foam then beauty of joseon spf. I get IPL photofacial laser once a year. I take oral oracea (super low dose doxycyclin 40mg) which basically is an anti-inflammatory. If i had a nickel for every time ive heard, "Did you get some sun?" .......
Diagnosed earlier this year. The low dose antibiotic that is reducing inflammation is unfortunately giving me stomach issues, so a trade off. A heat mask is helping my eyes, but as I asked my eye doctor yesterday, how can heat help inflammation? She thought about it and said the blood flow helps in healing, but I can go ahead and cold compress my eyes too. I start an invermectin topical prescription today and a prescription cream for my eyes (the lids, the waterline). Also part of my regimen is hypochlorous acid, which we already use on my husband’s eczema and my scalp, thanks to Dr. Dray. Has anyone else noticed how brands are all coming out with expensive hypochlorous sprays? Our SkinSmart is half the price. Dr. Dray was ahead of the curve here. Kudos. Great tip about cold drinks or ice chips. I bought a great neck fan at Costco, but forgot to take it with me to the health club. I had to cut my treadmill session short because I overheated. Next time, a cold drink AND the fan.
Finacea cream/gel (azelaic acid) and retinol... I use Olay retinol in the purple pot. What a difference!! I use cereve vitamin c and daily moisturizer with sunscreen for day. This regime keeps it in check.
Great video. I have followed your advice over the years and had previously been on oral antibiotics to control my rosacea. I tried a combo of different things and, currently, I use Vanicream to wash my face and in the AM I use Vichy Mineral 89 (for my dry skin) along with the ProCure All in One Hydrogel and top that off with a mixture of Cetaphil Redness Relieving Night moisturizer and the Paula’s choice Azaleic acid booster. I use the DRMTLGY Universal Tinted Moisturizer for sunscreen. I do use the Paula’s choice 2% BHA exfoliation a few times a week. My nighttime routine is similar. My rosacea is under control for the first time in a few years. Now I just need to focus on eating more Whole Foods. Thanks for all that you do! Your recommendations and the science behind are next level!
Because I didn’t see a dermatologist on the regular, I erroneously thought (years ago) that a little sun on my face would turn tan and make me look less red 🤦♀️. It never did. Now in my 50’s living in FL~ I do not let the sun on my face at all and I’m actively trying to undue years of sun damage.
I don't have rosacea and don't know anyone that does but still found the info interesting and I know it will be helpful to many who are watching. It sounds like it's triggered by different things so I'm sure it can be frustrating to diagnose and treat. Happy Monday, Dr Dray! I hope the hurricane doesn't impact your area badly. Stay safe. Have a nice evening. ❤
Poor sleep, stress, certain spices, fragrance,,,,these are my main triggers. I found also that making sure cleansers and moisturizers have no butylene glycol or its very low on the list really help my mid day flushing. I used to not be able to last more than a few hours without dryness and flushing, no matter how much moisturizer i put on. I know urea is often listed as a trigger for rosacea, but i have found that the only thing that prevents dry flushing is zeroid richenic cream. Kicking myself for not trying it sooner. I flush way less easily now, even on stressful days. My face also feels less dry after washing. After a few months of use i got brave enough to try a chemical sunscreen with niacinamide. In the past it stung so bad, but my skin has gotten strong enough to tolerate it now! There is no cure but like dr dray said keeping the flushing down and buidling a strong moisture barrier def makes it more manageable!
My rosacea didn't start to flare until a couple of years ago. It makes sense because I was traveling a lot to visit my dying father and then coming home to take care of my dying dog. The time difference, stress and lack of sleep were major factors. Now, that i'm getting more sleep and things are less stressful, my rosacea is still present and flares up. I think the stress and lack of sleep from previous years are catching up to me. I hope to find something that helps soon. Thank you for this!
Minimal skincare, use of sunscreen, little to no alcohol, and sleep/stress management has helped manage my rosacea. Thank you for this video and reminder why eating whole foods are important. I think this would help me a lot
Food triggers can be very important. For me, wine, chocolate, bananas, yogurt, raisins, fermented foods like soy sauce. Test your reactions to foods one at a time. It’s worth it.
I've had flushing for the past 2 years. To a degree some red spots. My derm said its Rosacea. Last 2 weeks I focused on SIBO and mites since those are 2 things that are easily controllable. Washing my entire body with dandruff shampoo with tea tree oil. Applying Tea Tree oil into face moisturizer. Doubling the dose of pro biotics morning and evening. Hydrated face wash, which leaves your face feeling oily but amazing results. Very clear improvement so far.
I've been a long time sufferer of rosacea and was always prescribed Metronidazole (an anti-biotic cream), whilst this initially worked, over time it became less and less effective, took months to see any improvement even when I first started using it and flare ups would occur within one to two months of finishing the treatment. As a result I did some research and discovered that the rosacea might be a cause of an over abundance of or over sensitivity to the Demodex mite (these critters live on every ones face!). To fix this it was suggested that using an anti-parasitic cream like IVERMECTIN might help, so, when I next had a flare up I asked my GP to prescribe said cream. WOW what a difference that made, after one week all the angry looking spots were much less angry and the redness had subsided significantly. After two to three weeks the spots had disappeared and redness had gone completely. The treatment lasts 4 months and time between flare ups has significantly improved. It's been over 9 months since my last flare up!
I had horrible rosacea and tried everything. It flared when I was in the change. I had never had bumps in my youth, but during my middle years, every skin care product broke me out. The first thing that helped was Soolantra. Then, I started using a retinoid. That helped more. I don't have the breakouts anymore, but I have broken capillaries. I can still get pretty red when I'm hot! It's no fun... the Celtic curse!
Thanks for the insights, they're very helpful, as always. I'd also recommend benzoyl peroxide and PDL lasers. Epiduo gel (adapalene + benzoyl peroxide) has made a huge difference for me. And of course, a few PDL laser procedures almost eradicated my flushes, wish I knew about it earlier
Hello! Did you try aveeno calm&restore face cleanser? I could not tolerate ANY cleansers in my life including vanicream, but this one literally saves me! Never burns Before I tried it I took this only sunscreen brakes too, but they improved my acne🥲🥲🥲
I've been dealing with developing rosacea on my nose for a couple of years, I have a red patch right on the end. Over the last 6-8 months I've also seen an increase in spider veins on my nose and face. I've tried all sorts of things, antiseptic cream, antifungal cream, antiviral cream, doxy (antibiotic), ivermectin cream, steroid cream, nothing seems to do the job properly. It will improve for a week or so on a new treatment then go back to how it was. BUT, I've had the best results with a combo of Azelaic Acid (20%) plus ceramides (I use the Cerave line). I also started taking MSM which is a sulfur supplement, about 5,000mg a day spread out during the day. These together have made it really manageable and on some days it's extremely faded. I think the two doing the most are the Azelaic Acid and the ceramides for the skin barrier. The sulfur is just an awesome supplement for your entire biological system as it's used in so many processes. Give these a go if you haven't had any luck yet.
My rosacea is because of the mites...I just found out that you can get a Walgreens topical Ivermectin .5% for about $35! It is used for head lice but you can use it for rosacea/demodex mites as well. I just started using it Friday night. I also stay away from any oil based cleansers or make up since they thrive on oil! I use mineral SPF and make up as well.
I was perscibed a mixuture of 2%sulphur in calamine lotion by a dermatoligist. Apply on affected areas at night. Works well and reduces reddness. Helped me a great deal.
Hi Dr. Dray, I have had rashes all over my face, ears, neck, chest and arms for almost 10 years. I think they (my VA Derm, I'm former Navy vet) finally came up with Rosacea this year. Part of my problem is that they don't usually deal with cosmetic version of a derm practice, and they are not used to dealing with women in this aspect. So I have had a rough 10 years getting it treated. Thank you for your honesty and help.
I have had rosacea on and off over the years…no pimples, just flushing and redness. Recently, I’ve been using castor oil after my evening cleansing and the redness has disappeared!
Thank you Dr. Dray for sharing 😊 In the summertime my skin isn't very happy, using sunscreen helps manage my rosacea . I use the Neutrogena Ultra gentle fragrance free cleanser - love this cleanser so gentle on the skin. I have several favorites from Vanicream that I use too - the Moisturizing Lotion and the SPF 30 . This sunscreen is lightweight with a matte finish 🥰 I've been using mineral makeup for years. My laundry soap is fragrance free also. Take care everyone 🌹
Rx Soolantra cleared up the very worst flare I ever had several years ago - rosacea acne. It even left scars. Now I use Rx Azeliac Acid as a preventative.
Tretinoin has done wonders for me, I use the 0.05 every three days. I also have laser treatments once every year to get rid of visible vessels. My face has never looked better.
IPL yes, the first year I did two treatments which gave me a significant improvement in clearing up my skin. It is important though to always apply sunscreen after, otherwise the red vessels will come back quicker and it will be a waste of money. :)
This happened to me. I treated for demodex mites , stripped down my skincare to vanicream cleanser and lotion, sunscreen. As it got better i used adapalene working up to every night after several months. Eventually got prescription retin a , the cream in lowest strength. I use it every night now and my skin is completely normal and clear. Hope this helps
Hi can you tell me what moisturizer you use? I also use the Vanicream cleanser but am struggling to find a moisturizer that doesn’t cause my skin to react, or bother my eyes which is common.
Did the vanicream moisturizer cause problems for you? I use that daily. I also somtetime use eltamd which my dermatologist suggested and has caused no reaction for me. It is a bit more expensive though. Hopefully Dr. Dray and other watchers can suggestion more options for you. Good luck!
@@christinas2188 I use the vanicream cleanser and the lite lotion in the pump bottle. There is a lotion i think called daily lotion in a tube. That one was irritating for some reason. I also mix in my hand the lotion and the cream that comes in the tub as sometimes the lotion isn’t moisturizing enough. I couldn’t find a mineral sunscreen that didn’t dry me out so i use korean Haru Haru Wonder and Japanese Canmake Mermaid. Love them. Treating for demodex was important and a game changer for me.
I have rosacea and my favorite skin products are Azelaic acid in the am, prosacea sulfur gel in the pm and the missha time revolution first essence am and pm. These have helped dramatically. I also do a sciton vascular laser once a year. Don't sleep on the missha essence though. It helps so much.
This is definitely what I’ve been dealing with for the last 10/15 years. Very interesting about the diet piece and the sleep part. Although it may seem obvious, I did not know that would contribute.
fun fact, I am red-faced with rosacea with no other issues. I visit the desert on occasion for a week at a time the first day my skin reacts and then gets nice and calm and the redness goes away and my skin starts to look beautiful. I’m a very oily girl. I’m able to use my Dewey Korean skincare and cushion foundations and they go on perfectly. When I come back to the humid south my face gets red again on a daily basis and all of my products become too oily to use. It’s truly amazing the difference I believe plays into, the little critters on your face
Yes, as per my specialist at Cincinnati Eye Institute, my rosacea is also under my eyelids, causing my corneas to scar. It's not the only source but part of a multi factorial reason for my corneas disease.
In my case, the biggest culprit for flare-ups is lack of sleep. Also, for some reason the Cerave creamy face cleanser made it so much worse! I struggled for a year after I had my kid and took turns removing various things from my skincare and makeup routine. Now I keep it under control through cleansing morning and evening, moisturizer in the evening and CC cream with SPF during the day.
Very helpful! One thing that drives me crazy: EltaMD is the only facial sunscreen that I can tolerate with my rosacea - truly the only one. And it is SO expensive! They just 1) increased the price, 2) decreased the amount you get in the bottle, AND 3) changed the shape of the bottle so that it is much more difficult to get out every last expensive drop. It makes me so incredibly angry! But I have no choice but to use it. I have found that a pretty simple routine is best for me: eliminating alcohol entirely, wearing EltaMD sunscreen daily (URGHHH!), using Garnier micellar water to remove makeup, then washing again with Cetaphil gentle face wash, applying a thin layer of topical metronidazole, then layer of Cetaphil lotion. I am very careful about the makeup brands I use (I use mostly Ilia these days), and I actually have done away with foundation entirely and just use the tinted sunscreen from EltaMD (URGH!!!), with a bit of Ilia concealer. I have small flare-ups when I exercise a lot in hot weather or spend a long day cooking a meal in front of a hot stove/oven. But with the routine above, it's pretty much under control. It's good to know that I can try some of those retinols and exfoliating products - I have other minor skin concerns (blackheads, etc) on my face that I'm always afraid to treat because I don't know how I'll tolerate the products used to treat them! I'd rather have minor skin issues than a flareup!
I was told wayyyy back in the 80s that rosacea comes from the gut. Ive dealth w it all my life. It is very discouraging☺️and depressing. I love to exercise and when I get over heated, I can count on a rosacea breakout.😢Ive tried everything as far as treatments. Sunscreen makes it worse- from high dollar ones to Korean SS. Even the sensitive ones are not so sensitive. 😮. Over the years I have experimented and I have found that anything w citric acid- tomatoes, tomatoe juice like V-8- Oranges-(juice) Hot drinks/ soups are some that trigger my rosacea. I wash my face twice a day w luke warm water using cetephil unscented Cleanser & pat dry. Afterwards I apply moisturiser and Metrogel to the area. I do not wear foundation anymore. Stay out of sun as much as possible and wear a wide brim hat when outside. Its a process- and it gets wearing but hang in there to those of you that suffer w Rosacea❤
Thanks Dr Dray. It means alot to me that you read my comment and gave me a ❤. I been watching you a couple years now and have learned so much from you! If you read this thank you soooooooo MUCH❤
1 percent ivermectin cream (Rosiver in Canada or Soolantra in the US) got rid of my constant rosacea break outs. I couldn't believe it! I suffered for decades with rosacea. It impacted my self confidence so much that I didn't want to leave the house. I haven't seen a pimple in years!
I suddenly developed what a skin specialist call acne Roseacea when I went to work in Geneva, Switzerland. The Doctor prescribed a medicine called Roaccutane. Which seemed very strong. I HAD to agree to take the contraceptive pill as he said it's vital that I did not become pregnant whilst taking the drug. When the pharmacist was dispensing the medicine there were also many bottles of moisturising body lotion and lip salves too as he said it could drastically dry out the skin. I also had a lump on my lower eyelid near the red lumps and pustules that had come up. I decided to refuse the medication as it just seemed a bit frightening. I went to another Doctor who gave me am antibiotic the name ended in cycling and some cream called Rosalex. On looking up Roaccutane I am really glad I didn't take it.
I had serious problems with Rosacea for years. I have try any available medical methods without success. Since years I have control it in a large degree with dry laurel. Warm a glass of water at 70-80 celcius (never boil it) placing inside the glass 6 leaves -average size- of dry laurel leaves smashing them in small pieces. When the water becomes yellowish after 40 minutes, i am using a cotton to apply it in my face 2 times per day and in exceptional cases, 3 times. That's it. The solution is active up to around 10 days. A method to control the laurel's water temperature low, is to place inside the bottom of a pot a towel and over the towel the glass with the water-laurel. Place water in the pot and let it boil -not strong boil- without splashing inside the glass. In 40 minutes is ready.
I have always used a mild cleanser and occasional exfoliating to treat my Rosacea. That was fine for me. I have incorporated Adapalene recently as an alternative, it's so good, thank you so much. I have purchased it by your recommendation ☺️
Yes that's what happens to me when I work out very rapidly. One time it was very cold that day and my skin is dry and I didn't know all the things I know now about skin care and I went to the doctor and said I had rosea how ever you spell it and I live in hot city in Miami Florida but that day was very cold winter time and didn't put moisturizer but I don't look like I have rosea, it was just that day because before didn't put nothing on my skin, didn't know about all I know now. I noticed that mineral sunscreen drys my skin, so won't put in my face. My opinion is that Tinted Sunscreen is the best Sunscreen
I suffer with rosacea and have found out that sleeping on your back and not your sides, helps. Stop sleeping on your face and sleep with a fan hitting your face to keep your skin cool.
For those of you who are extremely sensitiv, be careful when trying out the things mentioned. My cheeks reacted with aggressive blisters because of Azelaic Acid, Soolantra and Sulfur:(
Which is why whenever trying new products/treatments, you want to introduce things slowly to see how your skin reacts. When I first get something new, I patch test on my arm and a small spot on my face to see if any reaction occurs. Then if all is good, I use it on my entire face and see where it goes from there. I usually won't apply a new product every single day, but build up to that, again, to watch for any reactions. It's worked good for me so far, and through this process, I've been able to find products I know will help me when I'm dealing with a flare. Sorry to hear you had gotten blisters. That sounds awful!
This happened to me but I increased my moisturizer to a heavier cream and used petrolatum or Cerave ointment on very dry patches. Vanicream is my go to because I have extremely sensitive skin, but Cerave body cream has worked well too.
Were you using all three of those at the same time? I had the most awful flare of acne rosacea several years ago. It was so bad that it left scars. Soolantra cleared it up beautifully. I now use Rx Azeliac Acid as a preventative.
@@JubeeBijou no, i did not use it at the same time. It was years apart. Weird thing is, that i already used it two times (once a week). The reaction i had at the third time, when i thought it was save. I don't think mites are the problem. My skin is extremely sensitiv, so i'm not that suprised. A had rosazea all my life, plus sun allergies as a kid. It is really hard for me to find products in general. I think the products were too harsh
@@binabina6196 I understand. So sorry. I do relate to the sensitive skin, which for me, got bad after about age 50. I developed an allergy to salicylic acid. I also developed a weird reaction to a sulfur based facial cleanser, and anything with fragrance all after age 50.
Been in remission 2 years Azelaic acid (finacea) reduces inflammation and breakouts for me Twice a week 1% BHA Aveeno skin relief moisturiser if really dry if not a fragrance free one Spf 50+ 5* uva every single day as mine is UV and heat triggered
I tried the Procure tinted moisturizer and I like it, except it makes my face burn later. I’m guessing this is from the niacinamide. I think I’ll till use it, but put a gentle moisturizer over it. I’ll try it and if I can find this comment again, I’ll update with the results. I enjoy your channel so much, thank you for the information. 😊

I had some improvement when I stopped using salicylic acid cleanser and started using prosacea. The prosacea has helped I only use it in the morning before I moisturize etc. twice daily was too drying.
Literally just made an appointment with my Derm this morning because of a flair. Will see what is suggested. But trying to narrow down the cause, like the current hot and humid weather, a bit of stress, etc.

Dr. Dray can you please make a video about the new study about tampons containing heavy metals? 🙏 It's title "Tampons as a source of exposure to metal(loid)s"
My rosacea completely disappeared after my pregnancy started and I was fine even for a year postpartum! Then it started again, the same as before, flaky red skin on my chin and around my nose, which is getting worse and worse everyday. I have had a simple routine (mild cleanser, moisturiser, mineral sunscreen) but it doesn’t work anymore and I need something new for my uncomfortable skin. I tried QV flare up cream but it made my skin stingy and itchy! So I stopped using it. Now I’m here reading comments but honestly something might work for someone but not for others. It’s really frustrating.
I have had dry eyes also. Taking a fish oil supplement once a day has really helped me. But, it takes a month or so to take effect. Occusoft cleanser is good for blepharitis too. Good luck!
After I've done co2 laser treatment for improving the appearance of my acne scars - my skin was red for several months. Then i thought it's gonna last forever and I'm gonna struggle with "rosacea" for the rest of my life. But it seems like my skin feels better now
Did last night’s storms hit where you live, I was thinking about you when I heard it was building up steam? Hope everything is okay where you live! Great video, I’m not real sure what’s going on with me but I’ve been having some skin issues. Have a great week! ❤️
My dermatologist told me for years that I had Rosacea come to find out I had Mass cell activation disease. When my mass cell disease came under control I no longer had red cheeks etc.
I’ve been wondering about this for a while. Put myself on a low histamine diet (from whatever info I could get from the internet) and some symptoms have calmed down quite a lot Can I ask how you got it under control?
Have a healthy skin barrier is no1 do to. After do a consultation with a naturopath.. that help 75% of my rosacea. We have to eliminate some form of foods to eliminate intestinal candida.. you have nothing to loose to try 😊

Thx!
@mollyram2997
It is wonderful to hear about products that help with this.
I would like to know as well.
Very much appreciated.
I'm surprised you didn't mention laser treatments. That's the number one thing that helped treat my rosacea. I highly recommend.
Which treatment did you try?
What kind of rosacea do you have?
@@aky5701any vascular laser, one called called v beam is very good, do your research and get it done from a derm x

The De La Cruz sulfur mask SAVED my face from the worst rosacea flare of my life in 2020. Learned about it from you and forever grateful.
What is your rosacea type?
Last night I was looking in the mirror thinking “I need to do something about this rosacea” and here we are. Thanks!
That's me every night 😂
Just started using ivermectin cream and for the first time in about 6-7 years my cheeks, forehead, and chin are 95% less pink/red/bumpy/and painful. I have definitely been pampering my skin and repairing my skin barrier. Things are looking up! 😊
Me too. I have a compounded cream of ivermectin, metronidazole and niacinimide. It’s been a life saver.
Me too. I have a compounded cream of ivermectin, metronidazole and niacinimide. It’s been a life saver.
Same I had to fight tooth and nail to get it and within a week it was so much better.
Rosiver really helped me too. I did a full treatment (9 months I think? ). It didn't do much for the redness, but it got rid of the pustules and they never returned.
Did you get that through a dermatologist?
Over the years I have used various products for my rosacea, but once I started using sunscreen, my rosacea really improved.
I have had rosacea since I was a young child & actually found your channel by looking for advice and recommendations regarding rosacea and potential treatments for it. Thank you for making another video addressing rosacea.
Thanks for getting back to us rosaceans with this thorough and practical overview! Have a good week, Dr. Dray.
Love calling us Rosaceans! Not crustaceans - we are Rosaceans😄
😂 I’m going to start writing that in on those marketing ethnicity questionnaires
Wait, so beauty sleep is real?
I’ve had ‘rosy cheeks’ since childhood. Not painful or anything but just do not like the appearance. Thank you for this video with great info. ☺️
Does it help with papulopustular rosacea as well?
If i had a nickel for every time ive heard, "Did you get some sun?"
.......
Azeleic acid has been key for me. Makes my skin super soft too
Diagnosed earlier this year.
Off topic... but I am watching the news of the hurricane hitting Houston. I hope you and your friends and loved ones are safe.
Mine started during a stressful time too. I think this is common. So sorry for your loss
@@asirbbrisa Thank you.
Minimal skincare, use of sunscreen, little to no alcohol, and sleep/stress management has helped manage my rosacea. Thank you for this video and reminder why eating whole foods are important. I think this would help me a lot
I hope you're safe from the hurricane! Please take care!😘
I've been a long time sufferer of rosacea and was always prescribed Metronidazole (an anti-biotic cream),
whilst this initially worked, over time it became less and less effective, took months to see any improvement
even when I first started using it and flare ups would occur within one to two months of finishing the treatment.
As a result I did some research and discovered that the rosacea might be a cause of an over abundance of or over sensitivity to the Demodex mite
(these critters live on every ones face!). To fix this it was suggested that using an anti-parasitic cream like IVERMECTIN might help, so, when I next
had a flare up I asked my GP to prescribe said cream.
Me too! So much worse since menopause. I'm scared to try a Retinoid.
Thanks for the insights, they're very helpful, as always.
I'd also recommend benzoyl peroxide and PDL lasers. Epiduo gel (adapalene + benzoyl peroxide) has made a huge difference for me. And of course, a few PDL laser procedures almost eradicated my flushes, wish I knew about it earlier
my rosacea always looks much better when I take a few days off from skincare and just use SPF
Hello! Did you try aveeno calm&restore face cleanser? I could not tolerate ANY cleansers in my life including vanicream, but this one literally saves me! Never burns
Before I tried it I took this only sunscreen brakes too, but they improved my acne🥲🥲🥲
What spf do ya use ?
Give these a go if you haven't had any luck yet.
you uploaded this video just when I needed! Rosacea can really take a toll on your mental wellbeing. thank you for this Dr Dray.
Ivermectine is the one thing that helps my rosacea!
@@carolvanessa6054 I am hoping it helps mine...I would like to get in under control!
Did a dermatologist tell you to stay away from oil cleansers? Ty if you answer! ❤
How do you use it? Do you just use it like a regular lotion? Thank you
@@elettramia6380 once a day, at night, on clean skin
I've started ti use led mask and it is helping me, redness is much better
Hello! Are your results still good? How did the castor oil help? I also just have flushing and redness. Thank you
@ Hi…yes no more redness. I’m just using castor oil occasionally at night as it’s so oily.
@@lindy404 Tnahk you1 why do you think it worked? Did you had a fragile skin barrier for instance?
The red light mask helps alot in addition to the other tips.
Hi Dr Dray so excited to be here i live for this❤️
Tretinoin has done wonders for me, I use the 0.05 every three days. I also have laser treatments once every year to get rid of visible vessels. My face has never looked better.
Is the laser treatment IPL?
I'd like to know this as well
IPL yes, the first year I did two treatments which gave me a significant improvement in clearing up my skin. It is important though to always apply sunscreen after, otherwise the red vessels will come back quicker and it will be a waste of money. :)
Thank you for all this information. For a horrible condition I have. Thank you Dr Dray.
I have rosacea which has gotten exponentially worse since menopause. Will you please do a video about skin changes in menopause?
Dr. Dray has videos about menopause
Dr Dray, I've watched the news about huracan Beryl affecting Houston. I hope/pray you're safe.
Thank you 😊 I am safe, and hope everyone is doing okay
I will always think of Pokémon whenever I hear Demadex.
This is my favorite channel, it always cheers me up and Dr. Dray Is supper funny ❤️😁
fun fact, I am red-faced with rosacea with no other issues.
Stay safe, Dr. Dray!
I hope you, your mom and Tybee are ok, as well as everyone there. Be safe from the heat and recent hurricane 🌀
BBL, vBeam, and azelaic acid helped me. Also Dr dray of course 🎉 0:01
But you still use it everyday?
Do u use it daily?
@@caty2fulUse it till it's gone.
Benzaknen 10% gel works best for me, I highly recommend it for both acne and rosacea.
Soolantra, Metrogel and Vbeam laser have worked wonders for me. I hope they help others. Niacinamide lights my face on fire, though!
Happy Monday, Dr. Dray❤
Same to you!
Happy Monday everyone and thanks for the tips!
You too!
Long time ago, you mentioned benzyl peroxide is often helpful to rosacea patients. That made a huge difference for me.
Same here, a huge difference!
Same. But I can only handle it as a BP wash and not a leave on
Me too. Benzyl peroxide and adapalene (differin) are the two things that work for my acne rosacea.
Thank you, thank you for this video I needed this! I've found aveno has helped as a moisturizer.
Aloe vera gel too is amazing.
Been in remission 2 years
Azelaic acid (finacea) reduces inflammation and breakouts for me
Twice a week 1% BHA
Aveeno skin relief moisturiser if really dry if not a fragrance free one
Spf 50+ 5* uva every single day as mine is UV and heat triggered
Have a great day to the start of your week 😊
I tried the Procure tinted moisturizer and I like it, except it makes my face burn later. I’m guessing this is from the niacinamide. I think I’ll till use it, but put a gentle moisturizer over it. I’ll try it and if I can find this comment again, I’ll update with the results. I enjoy your channel so much, thank you for the information. 😊
Update: I used the gentle moisturizer over the Procure and ended up with a pimple and increased redness, this is too harsh for my skin. 😔

Dr. Dray can you please make a video about the new study about tampons containing heavy metals? 🙏
It's title "Tampons as a source of exposure to metal(loid)s"
My rosacea completely disappeared after my pregnancy started and I was fine even for a year postpartum! Then it started again, the same as before, flaky red skin on my chin and around my nose, which is getting worse and worse everyday. I have had a simple routine (mild cleanser, moisturiser, mineral sunscreen) but it doesn’t work anymore and I need something new for my uncomfortable skin. I tried QV flare up cream but it made my skin stingy and itchy! So I stopped using it. Now I’m here reading comments but honestly something might work for someone but not for others. It’s really frustrating.
Happy Monday Dr Dray…see you tomorrow x💙🤩
For me Panthenol(Vitamin B5) works the best!
Same for me! B5+ SPF ❤
Good morning Dr Dray ❤
Happy Monday
Thank you for tips! I'm going to try some.
Great video, just found out I had it ! I have dry eye, mites & blepharitis.
I have had dry eyes also. Taking a fish oil supplement once a day has really helped me. But, it takes a month or so to take effect. Occusoft cleanser is good for blepharitis too. Good luck!
I just can't stop looking at that glass-like skin
After I've done co2 laser treatment for improving the appearance of my acne scars - my skin was red for several months. Then i thought it's gonna last forever and I'm gonna struggle with "rosacea" for the rest of my life. But it seems like my skin feels better now
Dr. Dray - Love your eyelashes today :)
This was an excellent video. Thank you.
Did last night’s storms hit where you live, I was thinking about you when I heard it was building up steam? Hope everything is okay where you live! Great video, I’m not real sure what’s going on with me but I’ve been having some skin issues. Have a great week! ❤️
Yes, it was intense, but I am safe 👍🏼
@@DrDrayzday I’m so thankful to hear that! Thanks for letting me know!❤️
As a person with very sensitive skin and rosacea who does not tolerate niacinamide, it's very difficult to find products without it...
My dermatologist told me for years that I had Rosacea come to find out I had Mass cell activation disease. When my mass cell disease came under control I no longer had red cheeks etc.
I’ve been wondering about this for a while. Put myself on a low histamine diet (from whatever info I could get from the internet) and some symptoms have calmed down quite a lot
Can I ask how you got it under control?
How did you get it under control?
Have a healthy skin barrier is no1 do to. After do a consultation with a naturopath.. that help 75% of my rosacea. We have to eliminate some form of foods to eliminate intestinal candida.. you have nothing to loose to try 😊
Thank you Dr Dray. I have roseaca.
So helpful- thank you 🙏🏻
Hope you are anchored down in a safe place. TX is not getting a break with harsh weather-❤
Dear dr Dray, would you also make an update video on in-office solutions for redness (in general) and rosacea? Such as NDYAG
Hello dr. Dray! I have rosacea and living in sunny Greece does not help at all!!! (lol 😊)
I am in low dose isotretinoin and, in my case, it makes a huge difference!
Do you think a laser treatment would be effective? If so, what kind of laser?
