    I don't think the studies excluded non-vaping products? I find it odd that Dr. Tashkin didn't control for different inhalation type mechanisms in his review. I would assume that the tar and other carcinogenic effects that may increase the chance of COPD and lung cancer are from the paper products burned. Not an expert but for a health conference showing studies back in the 70s and 80s... that's just mind boggling

    • @MM3OG

      There isn't that many downside effects though this man is exaggerating in a scientific level in order to put a perception on cannabis. The only two "main effects" that negatively impact us from cannabis use is "slight lung damage, and interrupted rem sleep". Two very minor negatives but yet had way more positives. It's not downplaying cannabis if it's the truth and why would you believe DR's whos entire job is literally to kill you for profit they don't heal you they patch you up knowing it won't be long until you have to come back. Cannabis is a better healer than any Western doctor could be.

    • @CarolBlaneyPhD
      @CarolBlaneyPhD 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @griefsociety: My hunch is that the 'education level' makes a difference because the more educated one is, the more healthy is one's lifestyle choices are. It takes a lot of education to maneuver such a toxic world in which we find ourselves living in... it isn't easy to avoid the pitfalls of false advertising, glyphosate/pesticides/chemicals and stress. So, all things being equal, the more educated may have an advantage in avoiding certain health ailments. (add to that, more educated people tend to get higher paying jobs and thus can afford gyms, babysitters, vitamins, and vacations, all things that help adults live more healthy lives. hope my rambling answer helps, if not, i apologize.

      Yep. Studies have shown even long-term use in moderation has virtually no effect on lung health. It’s probably very heavy use for many years and especially lot of blunts etc that will cause real issues.
      My lungs feel worse before I ever tried cannabis, and during two years I quit. It actually helps my lungs at least the “feel” of them and how I perceive it. I have almost no excess phlegm, no cough, no issues breathing. I use a very nice bubbler and an Herb Iron to combust my flower, I mainly burn bud I know exactly how it was grown, and though there was a time a decade ago I smoked 25 blunts a day, I no longer do it’s been a year or two since even having one (also blunts are the only tobacco I’ve ever smoked, mainly swishers sweets occasionally a backwood).
      I can say when I was burning 25 bleezies a day (plus many bowls) my lungs were insanely messed up, always excess phlegm, very unpleasant every day. At this point I take only one rip at a time, and burn anywhere from 2 to 4-5 bowls a day (maybe .7g to 1g each). My tolerance stays LOW so one hit gets me blasted, never even want more and lasts 2-4 hrs easy. I am 12 years in aside for my two years being free from smoke, and some other decent periods of time like 50 days lol

    Use a water pipe and keep it clean with rubbing alcohol and course salt. It filters a lot of crap out, cools the smoke down, and traps water vapor in the smoke which is nice for the lungs. Gotta seriously look at your lung health if you're smoking more than a few times a day and maybe consider edibles.
    These studies are nice but don't look at a person's overall lung health as well. Cardio is good for you.

I am thinking our breathing mechanism needs conscious workouts just like our limbs and heart need workouts. and reading these comments I am seeing that yes, inhaling large breaths of vaporized cannabis also acts to expand lungs, maximize mass transfer at the air-lung barrier, and strengthen diaphragm etc etc. (probably best to just do the pranayama breathing though lol) but the point still holds: inhaling deeply, no matter for what reason (breathing or medicating) serves to stretch those lungs, and work out that diaphragm.

      @Philip Thompson they put the same warning on the cannabis containers in Arizona. However the smoke is what they say has carcinogens on the warning. Being a stoner for almost 6 years I've done a lot of research and it's unfortunate that there is so much unreliable studies. I have studied industrial engineering which uses statistics and I can interpret the studies without help. They are all variable because they use small population sizes and do.a terrible job adjusting for tobacco and other environmental factors. Edibles and alternative consumption methods that do not combust the material are safe because the carcinogenic compounds only appear in the smoke besides any additives that they add to the plant so dry-herb vaporization is a much safer option. I've decided in the last few days to reduce my usage and only use non combusting as much as possible. A younger me would just ignore the health warning. My dad smoked weed for 50 years and claimed it doesn't cause cancer. But he died of undiagnosed cancer. Doctors can't tell for sure what caused it because he had many other risks factors not related to smoking. That's when I did further research. I still smoke weed 2 years after my dad died, but Im at the point where I feel it's no longer serving me like it used to. it's not that I'm against it now because I still push for legalization and there are many proven benefits that have nothing to do with smoking it.
