This is an unproven supposition. Quite the opposite actually. No problems with vaping have cropped up despite two to three decades of mass use now. While it is proven that switching from smoking to vaping is readily adopted by all smokers and immediately causes the same healing as quitting. The difference is, quitting is usually a failure while tapering off with vaping has a 100% success rate.
This is most important in populations with serious pulmonary disease. It is often difficult to say, get lung cancer patients to quit smoking as they take on the attitude that they will die anyway. Yet you get the same effect of quitting using vaping instead and usually, the patient, once they try it, prefers it to cigarettes.
One thing to know about twinkletoes here. Although I don't know his motivations personally, I do know that most of the anti-vaping rhetoric is paid for, promoted and provided for by cigarette companies.

Ex heavy smoker here: 15 years of 2-3 packs per day. Switching to vaping 5 years ago was strange at first, but rewarding. I started doing sports, swim, play the flute. It was also way cheaper than normal cigs, cleaner. All seemed fine. About a year ago I reduced the nicotine to a trickle, then nothing. 2 weeks of really heavy placebo vaping later (and a LOT of coughing), I stopped completely. So here's my few cents about vaping:
    1. About as easy to quit vaping than as it was to switch from cigs to vaping in the first place. So if you can transition, you're half way there...
    2. Unbelievable health benefits after switching to vaping. However in the last year I did get almost constant coughs, which prompted me to start quitting it.
    3. The lower the nicotine, the less numb the body is, the more you start coughing. I used the mildest aromas, the best atomizers, still coughed after almost each vape.
    4. If you start vaping without ever having smoked, you're a moron.
    5. If you put stupid stuff into your vaping liquid, you're a moron.
    6. After you quit, all other vapers will look like morons to you. At least they don't stink of tobacco cinders.
    7. I don't miss vaping. But I miss cigs, as bad as they were. But not this new fluff, the good old ones, the cheap stuff they used to kill us with 20 years ago. Remember that wide Dunhill red pack? The sound the lighter made, that scratch on your fingertip? That first smoke in the cold morning. I would've died for that... Almost did.
So, in my case, vaping help me do the impossible: quit smoking. "Help" is a weak word for that it did. Do I recommend it to other smokers? Duh, of course, it's cheaper, cleaner, tastier, but aim for complete stop later down the road. It's gonna be way easier than you think, once you get all those old reflexes out of the way.

I agree with you as well, these videos are not focused on old cig smokers, they are pointing to new young smokers who start vaping even without smoking a cig in their life, to prevent them from smoking other things, but vaping made me quit smoking cigs and that's true, I feel way better than before and I don't really miss smoking cigs anymore the only thing that I really miss sometimes is the combination of coffee and cigs but it's something that I can just get over it, life has more things to Enjoy.

I appreciate this science , unbiased actual information SOOOO MUCH!!! I was able to quit smoking thanks to vaping. I haven't smoked a cigarette since July of 2019 4 YEARS!!!🎉 The difference in my breathing, sleeping & quality of life is enormous! I do worry about the possible bad effects of vaping, but I can share that in my personal experience when I was a cigarette smoker I had developed asthma, when I'd get a cold I'd be sick for a loooooong time & I'd have a cough every morning. Plus they smell disgusting. All that has gone away since vaping. I don't use the disposables, I use a VooPoo brand device and the ejuice I use says it is acetate free. I honestly feel vaping has saved many years of my life. I hope vaping continues to be a legal, accessable smoking alternative available to adults who need or want it.
Again, I appreciate this information so very much!

I vaped for 4 years, and I was able to quit vaping by lowering my nicotine level by half every 2 week. Eventually I had no nicotine, and after a month of that I no longer vaped. It is never good to cold turkey unless you are really willing to suffer through intense withdrawal! I did have withdrawal with the reduction in nicotine, but it was fairly mild and easy to adapt to.

As someone who started smoking cigarettes at 12 and never really vaped until high school. The whole anti vape thing is like a kick in the teeth, because I didn’t start with vaping it was actually helping me quit smoking. I’ve tried nicotine gum/patches and they don’t work, i feel like I’m more addicted to the action of taking a puff and feeling the sensation of the smoke or vapor being inhaled. I do feel that part of it is the nicotine, but it also has a lot to do with the action. I’ve also tried sunflower seeds, and it doesn’t really cut it for me. Then a lot of the laws changed around vapes and I just went back to cigarettes cause it was less of a pain in the ass to get what I wanted.

Vaping was able to give me that same feeling and the benefit of being able to slowly decrease the amount of nicotine overtime so I could eventually quit. The people who get higher and higher amount of nicotine are the people ruining it for everyone else who are just trying to stop smoking cigarettes which are way harder to quit than vaping.

For me the withdrawals lasted about 3.5 to 4 weeks, after that i barely had any cravings, and the times i did they weren't very strong and could easily ignore them, but after 2 months i decided to start again because nicotine makes me more alert. When i stopped vaping i had to increase my coffee consumption from 1 coffee to 2-3 a day to stay awake, and since one of them had to come from a coffee shop as i would not be at my house for me it ended up being cheaper to just have a coffee at home vape, so i started again

I'm very disappointed by this video. Vitamin E (or other oils) or even THC and CBD, are not what 99.99% of vapers inhale. It's like making a video about smoking and then spending most of the time talking about effects of burning crack. How is that informative to a normal smoker? What we (should) care about is propylenglycol, glycerine, nicotine (those will be common in most eliquid) and then there are hundreds or thousands of (usually food-safe) aromas where it would be good to know if some are harmful when inhaled instead of ingested. I was hoping you'll show us what a lung of a real long-term vaper looks like compared to a healthy one and a smoker, and unfortunately there's none of that :-( Also the GI tract mention was promising but lead nowhere - what does possibly swallowing some condensate or eliquid do to your stomach? What is the effect of having low dose nicotine in you mouth and upper GI tract do to it? What about effect on gums? Acid reflux due to constantly tasting something? Btw I have been using vape products since the first (crappy) ecigarettes circa 2003. Is 20 years history in many people not enough time to find whether, or how harmful, it is? Hmm...

Thank you for this video... I am a non-smoker and non-vaper.. In time when vaping was only starting to take pace I was exposed to huge amounts of second-hand vape. As a consequence, I've developed an issue in my olfactory system where I couldn't get rid of the vape smell.. Even in the night it prevented me from sleep - it smelled like rotten fruit mixed with burnt rubber and chocolate. At the same time I felt nausea and instant headache (i often felt like someone hit me on the head with something). The doctors couldn't help me but they put me on a special register for research (apparently they need about 10 years to be able to find out what is happening). As a consequence I lost my business (aromatherapy) as I couldn't rely on my nose any more. Strangely enough, getting COVID in 2020 has greatly improved my olfactory system. It seems that the COVID symptom, smell of rotten onions and garlic, has cured the other one. However, nowadays when I get even a slight whiff of vape I get instant nausea, headache and any strong smell (perfume, stink, etc., and vape) stays in my nose from few hours up to a few days, but not as strong as it was initially. I'm happy to have come across this video and you explained some things that make sense to me.

@@shade247 There is nicotine in vapes but way less than cigs. Most vape liquid today has 3 or 6 mg whereas cigs have ~15 up to 24 mg. It also was not well controlled so you could get a pack with 15 one day and the next pack a few days later could be 18. I don't know for sure but I think it was done intentionally by companies to make it harder to quit. Of course, you can get vape liquid with more nicotine and I actually purchased my liquid from a company that would give me custom amount of nicotine. Started at 15 because that's what I needed to stay off cigs and dropped it down slowly to 3. Best way to quit is to slowly reduce the nicotine.

I switched from smoking cigs to hand rolling my own & now I vape. The problem is when I used to roll my own it took time to roll them & helped me to cut down in that way. So I then switched to vaping in the belief I was “stopping” smoking. I’ve now realised vaping is too easy to just pick my vape up & puff away. I’ve since realised my nicotine intake has rocketed in comparison to hand rolling my own. So now it’s Operation quit vaping which won’t be easy, but here I go!.

I’m 40 years old and had been smoking cigarettes since I was 18, I’ve tried a lot of different ways to stop smoking cigarettes, nothing worked, well about little over 2 years ago I went into a vape shop and got a mod after hearing ppl have found success in quitting cigarettes and switching to Vaping, I really didn’t think it would wk, I was very skeptical and I was thinking I’m about to just waste 150 bucks. well I’m here to say it did indeed work that day I got my mod little over 2 years ago I haven’t had a cigarette since. I started off using 6mg of nicotine in my juice then after about 1 year I took it to 3mg of nicotine in my juice, and then just this year I have switched to zero nicotine in my juice, and I’m to that point I don’t need to vape anymore. Being around cigarettes does not bother me either anymore or have any craving to even want to smoke again, I can tell you I can’t stand the smell anymore of a cigarette and I can’t believe I would smell like that after a cigarette it’s quite disgusting. Just wanted to tell my story, and say vaping got me off cigarettes. I feel so so much better and feel so much more healthier. And I’m saving a shit ton of money not smoking…

@Joey pooschke well Joey you have nearly 100 likes but I would like to be the first to congratulate you in person Well done never go back. I first started smoking when I was 16 nearly 64 years ago. I don't think in those days that tobacco had the same addictive chemicals added to it as modern tobacco may have. I progressed from cigarettes to the occasional King Edward cigar, but my favourite was Balkan Sobrani Smoking Mixture in a Peterson's pipe, I also used the small half sphere plaster pellets in the base of the bowl to help absorb both moisture and nicotine from the tobacco. Although I never smoked more than half an ozs to one ozs a week I often gave up for 3 to 6 months at a time. I eventually gave up completely when I got to the age of 35 when I became more aware of the long term health risks. I must confess that even 15 years later after giving up completely I still had the odd craving for a pipe full of Sobrani it had the most pungent of smells but a divine taste and after half a pipe full you felt like you were on cloud nine.
I find cigarette smell the most repulsive and cannot stand it at any price.
Good luck with your intention to give up and Stay Safe.

that's amazing. By the way, I don't know, why the hell nicotine affects the organism differently. In my case, I started smoking in 2020. And 2+ years later, I quitted. I literally can't explain how did I do that so easily. Maybe I'll try to describe in details.
Prologue : smoking helped me lose weight, I lost 27-30 pounds, bcuz cigarettes made me eat less.
I said to myself - what am I doing. I'm literally a man at the top of my physical conditions - I'm young, strong, smart and handsome, and I ruin my health with cigs. I said it to myself, and quitted. It was not an easy task, I reduced smoking in sober mode ( smoked only while drinking beer ). That's it. After a journey to my motherland ( Dagestan, Caucasus ), I literally feel like I don't want to smoke anymore. As I said previously, cigs made me eat less, and now I eat more) I feel like that's the healthy stuff. better eat more , but healthy food, instead of less and some fast-food/snack stuff.

Both my sister and I have been cigarette smokers for 10 years, I`m 28, she`s 27. I smoked about 12-13 cigs a day, and for her it`s about a pack of 20.
I tried patches twice, gave me really bad vivid dreams, I kept waking up in the morning not rested at all, having lived all these adventures in my dreams. Tried gum, it tasted disgusting and switched back to smoking cigs.
There really is a tactile component to smoking, in addition to the nicotine addiction. I really felt like it was impossible to stop. I managed to stop for 8 months a year and a half ago, then eventually, I was bored with my life, it was not going well at work, to the point where it became very stressful, and I went back to smoking cigarettes.
Just switched to vaping last week, and I already feel better. Just to know that I won't smell like shit to non smokers anymore, that I won't have to go out in the freezing canadian winter to smoke, that my teeth won`t become more and more yellow over the years, that my chances of cancer radically drop from vaping instead of smoking, all of that makes me feel very good.
After a week of vaping, both my nostrils are clear most of the time, which was not the case with cigarettes. I grind my teeth much, much less, and whenever I smell cigarettes smoke I find it disgusting, which was not the case before (all these toxic chemicals now have very distinct smell to me). I taste and smell everything else better too. I do smoke the thing a lot more than I used to smoke cigs though, maybe because of nicotine absorbtion speed?
I also bought everything separately: Nicotine/VG solution, PG, flavours, so I can do my own mix and gradually decrease the nicotine. If I see there is a problem with the flavours, (ie some studies suggest that mint can have pulegone in very high concentrations that is bad for the lung), then I`ll stop adding them. I might quit flavors all together. DIYing vape juice costs a lot less than buying premade vape juice (2-3 times less, very rough estimate) and 6-7 times less than smoking (again, very rough estimate). My plan is to stop vaping eventually too.
I`m worried for my sister at times, as she does not want to quit smoking at all, even though she has asthma and does 0 exercise. Everytime I tried to stop smoking, she was very keen on making me know that she loved to smoke and when I talked to her about vaping, she said it made her cough and that she was used to smoking and had no interest in switching. She has Bipolar disorder too and it's sometimes hard to follow her thought process. I will definitely try again to talk her into it in the future some day, it would suck if she died of cancer, as I love her very much. We`re still somewhat young, so fingers crossed, some day she`ll stop.
Thank you for reading my novel.

Friends used to make their own vape juice. It was vegetable glycerin, nicotine, and artificial flavors. Making your own a friend used to make the nicotine only 2 mg. Also, they would only buy artificial flavors that did not have those harmful ingredients. A decade of vaping and no issues. Then two years ago I got hooked on elf bars, lost mary, and all those disposable vapes sold now. What I noticed was the nicotine levels were 25 to 50 mg. And there seemed to be much more concentrated artificial flavors to boost the flavor and sweetness. It was only then that I started to be getting headaches and nausea, and while I didn’t have withdrawals from the homemade vape, I was having massive withdrawals from the disposable from the store. Just food for thought or rather vape for thought.

I love cigars and pipes as a hobby, and using tobacco-free nicotine pouches (such as Zyn) and vaporizers actually helps a lot with the EDS (excessive daytime sleepiness) from my narcolepsy and OSA (obstructive sleep apnea), nicotine being a central nervous system stimulant that has a far shorter latency getting into the bloodstream due to its delivery methods. Nicotine helps in emergency situations when I either don’t have access to my medications or when I don’t have time to wait for them to kick in (such as when driving or sitting in class or a meeting). I’m not really into THC, so I’ve only tried vaping with THC once and didn’t enjoy the harshness of the vapor from those particular devices. I have smoked cigarettes, but I find them to be more trouble than they’re worth due to the odor and fire hazard - both of which are not problematic in vaping. I find that, in my particular situation, the “gateway” risk of cigarette smoking is very low, but I do appreciate your honest and unbiased evaluation of the risks associated with vaping. Thanks for explaining it in such easy-to-understand terms!

It is interesting that vaping cured people from coughing as much and got them to stop smoking. Vaping for me was worse. I coughed more and kept hacking up flem fron my lungs that i did not do when I smoked actual tobacco. I also found vaping did not give me as good of a hit, and it became a hassle, so I stopped both. On vape, it was way way harder for me to breathe as tobacco.

That is because nobody ever taught you how to vape They simply sowed you a vape. The reason you started to cough and choke when you vaped is because your brain detected moisture and your lungs and tried to save you from drowning and told you to cough it out. Just like when you first started smoking you coughed and choked and your brain tried to save you from the forest fire and told you to cough it out. The difference is when you were young and started to smoke you didn't care if it made you cough You wanted to be part of the cold group so you kept going back for more.

I've had some that were smooth and easy and tasty and I've had some that just felt nasty and tasted horrible too. I am now an ex-smoker and ex-vaper but there are times I still crave a vape or a cig. Once you quit, you have to stick to it.

As someone who managed to quit smoking cigarettes but was never interested in vaping I have to say that the hardest part about quitting isn't the nicotine (I tried all kinds of nicotine products to help me quit for years), the hardest part is just the act of smoking, just the habit in itself is the best part about smoking and the biggest reason why it was so hard for me to quit so I can definitely see why vaping as an alternative to cigarettes can be an easier way out.

I smoked for 24 years and got where I couldn't even walk up a flight of steps without running out of breath.. I switched to vaping almost as soon as it came out, roughly 12 years ago. In that 12 years I have never experienced any of those side effects you mentioned but within 6 months of switching from cigarettes to vaping I was able to start working out doing cardio .... that lead to me doing several long distance hikes (more than 300 miles each). Last year, I got diagnosed with cancer ... not from smoking but from HPV. Because I am so physically fit, I was given an 85% recovery rate over 12 months .... its now been 19 months. I still work out doing both cardio and weight lifting and to be honest, vaping gave me my life back. Drs said I was one of the healthiest 50 year olds they have ever seen .... no high blood pressure, no cholesterol, etc ... just had cancer and I kicked its a%^ too. I think one of the biggest things about vaping safely is buying from reputable brands and reputable dealers. I'm not into that thc and all the other crap ... oh yea, did I mention I actually vape 0mg nicotine ... why? Well, the motion of smoking is actually harder to quit than the nicotine.

Thank you!! I started smoking at the age of 16, and smoked up to a pack of heavy cigarettes until the age of about 18, which is when I got the classic smoker's cough that wouldn't go away for months and doctors couldn't really do anything about it. I tried to quit, but that was very hard, and this is about the time that those Iqos things became available around europe (they're still tobacco products, but they heat the tobacco instead of burning it, so the smoke is less irritating). I switched to iqos at 18, and the cough went away for about 2 years, and then at age 20 it came back again. I wanted to switch again, so that's when I discovered vaping, where it became more popular. Made the switch, and the cough went away once again. I'm now 22, still vaping and still no cough (which is kind of the thing by which I measure my health status with these things) but I'm kind of sick of spending so much money on my nicotine addiction. Right now, for me the biggest problem with vapes is that I can't track that well how much nicotine I'm ingesting, so that I could maybe switch to a nicotine patch and tweak it down. Since I only take like 1 or 2 puffs each time, and since me and my boyfriend share vapes, it's not like I can count the amount of nicotine used up by only me. I'm now wondering what the next steps are, since I'm not from the US, and there's a bit of a stigma on getting medical help with quitting smoking here (for example,my psychiatrist encouraged me about quitting when I asked, but said that this wasn't one of her specializations).
But your video kind of calmed down my anxiety about "still vaping", because in my mind I thought that is was pretty much just as bad as cigarette smoking and "oh my god I'm going to get cancer if I don't quit this second". Now I do see the path I was on, and that I actually did do something good for myself, in comparison to me age 16, and I probably should be proud of that. I have a really strong physical dependance in comparison to "just wanting to put something in my mouth", so the fear and desire to stop alone aren't that productive; I can literally forget to vape and not even think about it, and I will notice that I haven't vaped because I become actually ticked off, aggressive, emotional and short-tempered, and that's kind of why I think nicotine patches should help.
In any case, this video brought up my motivation to continue trying to find ways to replace, replace, replace until I'm finally off nicotine. Really don't want to smoke anything anymore since a relative of mine was diagnosed with cancer, so thank you for reminding me that what i'm doing right now isn't ideal, but is still better than what i was doing before.

It's worth noting that Traditional Chinese Medicine provides a fascinating perspective on this topic, highlighting a complex interplay between the Lung, identified as a YIN organ, and the Large Intestine, recognized as a YANG organ within the metal phase. VAPING is in my opinion and most tobacco shops that sell this is the sale of “Eliquids Or vape juice containing nicotine A highly addictive substance” no shop in my state will sell CARTS (Bc they have weed and there is no such thing as THC juice) carts are unique in the sense that they Are PURELY DISTILLED THC OIL meaning it’s basically just weed that is safely regulated at a certain temperature but is A very SEPERATE thing from vaping, Vaping is defined by NICOTINE and not WEED/THC. The approach was correct but the misguided notion that this directly correlates to VAPING is wrong nowhere that you go to buy A VAPE or VAPE PEN or DISPOSABLE VAPE or PUFF BAR will say “MAY CONTAIN NICOTINE A HIGHLY ADDICTIVE SUBSTANCE” NONE OF THEM WILL say “contains THC” bc well you can’t just sell THC like that. There was a small issue with shitty CARTS getting around I haven’t heard anything recently but this issue happened 2 years ago now I wanna say most people called it or said they were VAPING to avoid getting a charge NONE OF THIS IS FACTUAL IM GOING BASED OF MY OWN KNOWLEDGE IF YOU KNOW SOMETHING I DONT PLEASE DO FEEL FREE TO ENLIGHTEN ME THIS IS PURELY FROM MY PERSPECTIVE AND FROM MY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE OF WHAT MY DUMBASS FRIENDS HAVE DONE thank you for reading my TED TALK xD

Many people have made the point that if Nicotine was THE compound that's hooking people, then pure Nicotine would be enough, so gum, patches, pouches, vapes, yet most smokers who try vaping end up going back to Tobacco and say they're just not the same and while Nicotine does scratch a certain itch, the effect is small compared to what else is in Tobacco. Now, if i vape a vuse pod, i do feel that's addictive, but i'm pretty sure it has something to do with the flavoring in it, rather than the Nicotine, as i've bought the same strength Nicotine salt in unflavored liquid, and it doesn't have anywhere near the same effect as the vuse pods do, so they're slippin' something else in the pods that ain't Nicotine that certainly makes a hell of a difference.

I'm getting there. Switched to vape about 4 months ago. I can tell it'll be much easier to quit the vape. If I forget it for the day or something... No big deal. With cigarettes, if I had to go all day without it was a bad day. Also I find I'm craving it less and less.

Been vaping for 7 years , prior to that I was a life long smoker who was up to almost.3 packs a day, my lungs and health were in very bad condition , I switched to vaping and in a short period of time I stopped coughing in the morning , I use to cough for about 35 minutes when I woke up, it was so bad at times I would be close to blacking out, I had no lung capacity before long I was able to walk up stairs and not have probs, after a few years I have full lung capacity back , I can breath, I sleep better , my snoring is almost non existent, food tastes amazing, I can smell a cigarette a mike away, all of these are the same as quitting smoking, the nicotine in a ecig is not as addictive as one through a cigarette and it’s basically like caffeine in a way, I can not vape for hours if I chose to and not physically need it, to as where in a cigarette I could only maybe make it a hour or two and I physically needed one, there is no combustion from vaping, this is where smoking has its huge prob, you are lighting something on fire and inhaling it, it’s like running into a burning house and taking a deep inhale of the smoke, what has happened in the last few years that has gone under the umbrella of vaping is these pods and carts for small vaping devices, now a lot of these are carts that are premade, a lot of young adults band teens were getting black market carts which a dealer would cut the thc with vitamin e acitate which causes all these probs, regular vaping , no thc or vitamin e acitate , just pg/vg, flavoring and nic or no nic eliquid there is no probs, even England has done a study on it deeming it 95% safer than smoking, hospitals have vape shops, but in this country big tobacco rules the media and the FDA all in the name of safety for our children, well let’s think about it and I do not condone vaping for anyone who is not addicted to smoking and espically anyone under the age limit, just don’t do it, what I found funny is that if there was no vaping kids would still all be smoking in high school and nothing would be said against that, no new laws banning smoking which we know what it does, but that’s ok, my thing is if you want to ban vaping then why are cigarettes still available anywhere 2 mins from your house? When listening to media and stuff just follow the money and it becomes clear, vaping saved my life , just a opinion from a former heavy smoker

As someone who vapes, I appreciate this video. I was scared to hear how damaging it is but it has effected me for the worst where I need it when stressed and I can barely exercise because I get out of breath so easily. I've been vaping for a year. I know quitting cold turkey can be unrealistic but I definitely want to cut back and eventually quit.

never quit cold turkey, 90% people fail, slowly ease your body into receiving less nicotine. Ex: cut your nicotine intake by 1/2 every 3 days; remember this is only to avoid withdrawals. The only thing you have to do after that is make sure you stay dedicated

Stop vaping. Stop even cooking with oil. I am a former asthmatic. NO meds for 20 years. I do yardwork and mow lawns.
