Turn your mountain bike into an indoor stationary exercise bike

- The items you ned to do this cost about $60, which is WAY cheaper than the roller trainers. Roller trainers can be great, but they also can be noisy---really noisy if you have a nobby mountain bike tire rolling on them. To create rsistance, simply squeeze the rear brakes, and when the pads eventually wear out you can buy new ones for less than $10.
This hack is super easy to do---just use a wrench or socket to rmeove the two rear wheel nuts, then hand screw the pegs in. Then pop the bike up on the jack stands so the rear wheel is an inchor so off the ground.

WOW !!!!! DUDE !!!!! THANKS !!!!!
It's been raining a lot and I love riding my bike for exercising. This is sweet... The garage is warm enough to break a good sweat and I'll hold the brake for resistance 🔥💯🔥💯.
You are welcome!
Good idea Kevin. I'm glad to see no critics chiming in.
Nice..... I already have pegs on the back and jack stands for my car. You saved me some money. You could always throw a rubber band on the brake lever or 2 depending on the resistance you want. Instead of having to hold the lever the while time. Awesome hack dude
Thanks!
Thank You for this!!!Cost effective and space saving solution!!!!
You are welcome!
Definitely doing this, thanks!
add a old skool friction handle bar head lamp.Little simple friction.
Do you think 2 jack stands centered under the back axle bar on an adult tricycle would work to make my trike a stationary exercise trike for winter? I’ve been looking everywhere and calling every bike store to find a stand for a tricycle with no luck. TIA
Hmmm, interesting question. I guess it depends on the axle bar's strength and the width of the placement of the jack stands. Obviously, the thing you not want to happen is for the bar to bend. Maybe, you could hedge against this risk by placing a piece of superstrut (Home Depot across the jack stands and then rest the axle bar on the superstrut. The superstrut would reinforce the axle bar to keep it from bending.
Where did you say the pegs originated?
Hi! You may get them at amzn.to/3ISKpgv
Why not use the gears to create resistance?
Sure, you can do that, so long as your bike has gears that give sufficient resistance.
Trying this
Will this work on all bikes?
I should think so, provided they have hand brakes to use to create resistance.
@@KevinRKosar Thank you!!
Where did you get the pegs from??
