Havent watched all the video but tekken 5 was the start of many characters just being a joke in my opinion. Paul is a major example. Also ganryu, he used to be a gambling addict and shit. Now he just creepily simps for julia. Also Wang's story in tekken 5 is genuinely one of the best stories in tekken history. You dont need context from the previous games to really understand, its quite well self contained. It brings out so much emotion from the characters and is perfect example of the great character interactions in this game.
I was kind of afraid of airing that opinion, I'm happy to see I'm not alone. The rest of the video shouldn't disappoint. Wish I'd have had time to mention Ganny by name, though.
What about ganryu in tag 1?what about paul in t4 prologue?come on dude these guys you mentioned had already these behaviours its just that t5 shows it more
Dude, this video is shaping up for excellence. I've loved Tekken 5 for a while. The earlier titles may be more nostalgic, but Tekken 5 is something else, in all regards. Really excited to see how the rest turns out, your videos are really fascinating.
The OP for T5 has a weir place in my mind. Thought I was a fan of Tekken since 3, I didn't get into anime or martial arts fiction until much later, so I just saw the majority of characters as regular humans who were good at fighting and that gameply-story-segregation was the reason why the likes of Bryan and Jack didn't instantly kill a lot of people, then T4 went good lengths to ground the series even closer to Earth...And then Kazuya punched a hole in a robot, Heihachi air juggled another one and my understanding of the series completely disintegrated...But I loved every second of the Hon Maru fight regardless. I got annoyed at the time at seeing Asuka "Spider-Man" her way around town and Feng "Xiaolin Showdown" his master through a tree even if the song was cool, but I now know more about what inspires Tekken and don't find these scenes so out of place...Maybe still a little more "all-out" than T1-4 were and still a sign that the series' priorities were changing, but I'd definitely have to put this opening up there with MK Deception's and Armageddon's these days. I think even at the time that I felt that T5's in-game graphics were less impressive than 4's and watching your T4 analysis still makes the game look great to me, but seeing this footage also gives me more appreciation for T5's execution, even if I miss T4's complicated landscapes to this day. Also forgot just how many character interactions there were in arcade ladders; some of them may have been goofy (and I'll never like Raven for looking down on my boy, Yoshi), but you've opened my eyes that they also helped flesh out characters (as well as introduce the idea that everyone understands every language) and expound on the wider game's story and themes. You are a gift to the Tekken fanbase.
Tekken 5 is the best Tekken game ever made, I don't really understand exactly why but this game just feels so responsive and a lot of fun to just play, no other Tekken game feels as natural to play as Tekken 5.
Tip. When i faced Jimpachi, i just spammed jump kick attacks. For some reason it seems to always work. (Yes he can block it at times but hardly counters it.)
There's some PSP and PS3 footage intersperced, and when it looks REALLY good (for character story endings), it's pre-rendered video files. PS2 footage is emulated and upscaled (because basic text elements didn't render correctly otherwise.)
This game calls it a Devil on several occasions, even in Japanese. Regardless, what's more important is what you can read into it, than what it canonically is. Harada has also said after TTT2, that Jinpachi didn't create the Mishima Zaibatsu. Which is strange, because he was held under the Mishima Zaibatsu Compound, because Heihachi wanted the Mishima Zaibatsu.
10:55 what the FUCK, I've been playing this game since it came out and I never knew about this cutscene (not that I'm good at the game, I just kept using continues till I lucked out).
Who would have thought Jin winning was the bad ending all along
Should've just killed both of them. Thanks a lot fuckin Jun
I fucking love how you gave the opening the Mother's Basement treatment. One of the best openings in the series and pretty much my favorite... (:
Sparking was my little brother's wrestling entrance theme. It worked incredibly well.
Haven't finished the video and im already in love with it
Share the love, man. If you've got buddies interested in Tekken, anyway.
Your analysis throughout this series was incredibly insightful. The concept at 5:00 was of particular intertest and expressed well

This is pure Gold. So happy to know that you're making something for the Tekken lore. Thank you so much for this!! Can't wait to see more 👍👍

I'm really happy to hear that. I hope I don't disappoint anyone.
So much love for Tekken

Movement feels more responsive just based on how far you travel at all.
thank u for reviewing this game

This channel is great
Azazel was more bullshit than Jinpachi ever was.
Love this series
this is ps2 gameplay?! holy shit tekken has always looked wicked good for its time.

aesthetics and chills beat story anyday
best tekken !
IIRC Jinpachi didn't sell his soul to the Devil. I remember Harada saying he was possessed by an evil spirit and not actually "Devil".

Damn you're good! 👍🏿
Great video!
If you were european, your last name would be pronounced "TH-cam"

Jin's ending and Jin In Tekken 6 was not good but I still he is my favorite character
Oh also, the music that plays at 10:55, where did you get it? I can't find clean rips of the cutscene music anywhere and I love this piece so much.
This track isn't available on the soundtrack, I had to use publically available tools to rip the song from the game.
@Nostalgic Person Thanks a million! Been wanting this for ages!
“Surrounded by bitches” well done
5:40 what is this game? Looks sly cooperish
Ape Escape 3
Can we see parts 2 and 3?
2's out. Expect 3 in a couple days.
Quality stuff
Also I’d argue that kazuya t2 arcade is more difficult than jinpachi haha
Nice
Are you James Jani?
