    I cannot stress how much this shows the error of the developer's ways. In fact, Tekken 7 is subtle in all the wrong ways. It'll leave first-timers confused, and scratching their heads. As of writing this, Tekken 8's S1 pass has come and gone. Heihachi Mishima... despite what Raven says... is alive. After this whole, incredibly drawn out, and forcibly sloppy ordeal, the whole point of T7(the point which we were lied to about, or at the very least what was undersold by lore-retconning and what not that only existed to justify rehashing old concepts, namely Kazuya Mishima and the Macbeth plot with his father.). To add insult to injury, the way Heihachi was "revived" was basically a parody of itself. At this point, the "Heihachi Mishima is(NOT) dead." meme is a running gag that they also seem to play completely straight, but it's obviously a joke. You REALLY like Hachi, don't you Harada?

    The fact that people dismiss fighting games as having stories that have never been good, whilst ignoring the fact that Lucky Chloe's ending was in fact, *not* a symptom of it being in a fighting game is just wild to me. The same thing could happen to any story, fighting game or not. It's just plain bad, rage-inducing writing.

    So, Tekken 6 is a commentary on 9/11 and the war on terror. Great. Metal Gear Rising Revengeance have a better philosophical angle on war, killing, and violence, by virtue of it simply being Metal Gear Solid, just as a character action game where Raiden is the star. I mean, that game probably wasn't as complex as MGS and it still didn't insult me like Tekken 6 does. Far from it, in fact. Maybe, because it wasn't using unreality to conceal the thin vale placed over it's narrative, instead it told the story it wanted to tell.

      @@FallenDefender100 For a gag to make it into a video there's Three conditions: 1) It doesn't waste any time. - It didn't waste any time. 2) It's relevant to the production of, or timeframe, of the subject matter. - In this case, the joke references with a late-'00s gag anime, released around the time of T6 and featuring the same voice actress. 3) I think it's funny. - I still think it's funny.

    "The game opens with a Nietzsche quote, don't blame me." Uhh, ok? Why would anyone blame you, much less the game for simply opening with a Nietzsche quote? It's not even as if you opened the analysis with that. In fact, that whole quote underpins the game's entire narrative. The pretentious nature of the narrative still isn't debatable though. Upon revisiting this video, and watching the game OP again, I couldn't help but notice the at-first seemingly odd choice to make Azazel a Judaic deity, but also an Egyptian god? Azazel did create the Devil's after all, and the cat metaphor is clearly the reason the writers just slapped a whole supposedly Judaic identity with an also debatably Egyptian one. Choose one or the other! The pieces were in place to make him an Egyptian god of destruction and vengeance, but then they put this whole... Judeo-Christo angle to it. In essence, what they ended up going for with this whole scenario is just weaker, when they were also trying to go all-in on all the prior themes.

      Thanks for enjoying my videos. ACE X is a great game, but the afterthought story means it's best as a footnote for an ACE7 video, since 7 borrows gameplay elements. ACE XRumble & Innocent Aces are already failed videos, for different reasons. Recommend the latter though. Great game. ACE5 I don't think is worth my analysis, but I don't really want to make a video trying to rob people of how much they like that game. ACE6, I played 20 minutes of to test a recording setup (XBoneX hardware) to one day maybe make a video for it. ACE7, probably gonna do that eventually. Assault Horizon, still need to play.

      @GizouGitai If I can give a tip for ACE 6, the game wants you to aim your missiles more realistically. Lead your missile shots ahead of enemy fighters, or just wait for the SHOOT prompt. As far as I know, that's the only game that has that mechanic. It took me about 2/3rds of the game to figure that out.

    Tekken 6 the story fell off a fucking cliff. 7 was still poor and 8 a bit better, but both suffered as a result of 6. Tekken 4 gave the characters real depth and was legitimately engaging. Shame we probably won't see these kind of themes again as they just try to replicate superhero and anime tropes these days.

    Phenomenal video assay, you've shown me a whole new perspective on a beloved classic. I do have to hard disagree on the Dolores series though. True it is wildly different to the rest of the ZOE franchise, but the characters are so lovable - they are flawed and make bad decisions, but they make UNDERSTANDABLE mistakes that reflect their personal flaws, and grow through these mistakes. They are just so deeply Human. Maybe I'm overly generous to a series that isn't driven but incomprehensible and inconsistent character writing that infests anime, but I love it.

    AC3 might not have my favorite story in the series, but it's by far the game I find the most fascinating out of all the entries. I'm always bewildered at how ambitious it is, and also by just how well it holds up in spite of that ambition. The only complaint I have are the AI missiles. Thankfully, the developers prevented it from being too egregious by making the AI incredibly passive on all difficulties, and by inflating your health pool on Normal and below. I'd have prefered real solutions, but I suppose they must've ran out of time. Can't wait for your next video.

    17:50 No words were needed to describe the redundancy of that screen-prompt / upgrade (in all fairness, the upgrade probably affects Raven's / Lars' AI too, but it doesn't make the situation any less awkward) Not gonna lie, as flawed as this campaign may be when put under a microscope, it's always gonna remain am important part of my childhood. The Tekken 6 campaign was an absolute blast! Even though I basically dropped out of the campaign at that exact boss battle since Alisa was literally the only character I desired to play as when I was a kid, so her becoming unavailable royally screwed me to say the least. She's the only character whose moveset I am at least somewhat familiar with to this very day, now that I have actually grown up enough to put an effort into learning movesets for a game-franchise nobody else in my entire town plays. In hindsight, it doesn't come as a surprise that I developed an obsession with the cute robot-waifu I suppose. In any case, I enjoy having a laugh at the silly little details of one of my favourite childhood games, your video is so well-presented and your commentary never feels uncalled for or overly insulting to the game.

    • @GizouGitai
      @GizouGitai 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      1. It's a redundant prompt, but it hurts somewhat. She just left you, and she's upgraded. 2. Alisa was still playable afterwards, you were a silly kid. 3. The game simply deserved the respect I gave it, despite its shortcomings.

    • @gamin9wizard945
      @gamin9wizard945 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GizouGitai I am fairly certain that the game tossed me to the character select screen after my dad cleared the Alisa boss battle for me (during which the game auto-swapped me to Lars), Alisa's Panel being blanked out entirely. Yes, she was still selectable if you then went back to the character select screen from the pause-menu, but she was only playable in the stages before she fought you. If you attempt to enter one of the final stages with Alisa being selected as the player-character, the game throws you back into the character selection screen with her panel being blanked out yet again. Whether or not this behaviour changes / gets removed after clearing the final stages, I don't know, I never played them myself back then, and I don't have access to the old 360 as it remains with my parents. I'd have to emulate the game to verify. Regardless, the sentiment I was trying to express is, that the game (from what I vividly recall) actively prohibited you from progressing as Alisa after the point of Jin taking control of her. It wouldn't allow me to enter the final few stages unless I selected somebody else.

    16:09 I think the actual explanation is that the gun in AC2 is just garbage. Even if you've put a missile into a plane beforehand it still takes what feels like hundreds of rounds to finally destroy it. Also, since the cruise missile has no collision, I've found the best way to shoot it down is trying to ram it while holding down the trigger.

  • @TheD3rp2

    27:11 Minor correction/elaboration: While the Electro-Neuron-Synapse-Interface is what most pilots in the setting use to fly (the majority of SARF included), it is non-intrusive and functions by using external sensors to track the activity of the pilot's reflex and motor neurons. What Rena has is instead an Opto-Neuron-Synapse-Interface, which jacks her central nervous system directly into the aircraft, effectively turning it into an extension of her body. This also makes her uniquely vulnerable to being taken over by the nanomachines in Bug Hunt, and I believe realizing that is the turning point in her arc. Midway through this video I realized that you were the one who made the two videos on ACZ and 04 that I quite liked, and I even remember asking about AC3 in a comment I left on one of them. Then I checked and saw that you've since made videos on the original two games! I'll definitely be watching those soon. Anyway, really looking forward to Part 2.

  • @jurnikovah7453
    @jurnikovah7453 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Not gonna lie, when it came to the child indoctrination segment I can appreciate the clarification of Disions intent NOT being sexual in any way. It's still sinister regardless, but it's for making a child soldier, nothing more or nothing less. I've watched the 1930's version of all quiet on the western front front, easily a pretty accurately depressing depiction of war as a meat grinder, I think I remember this scene where the protagonist, Paul Bäumer doing the opposite of Dision in front of a class of soon to be recruits, going on about the horrors of war with an expression not too dissimilar from the infamous 1000 yard stare. Telling people that they will go on to be glorious and do great things is usually just dressing war up in royal capes and gilded swords so to speak. It maybe an eye roll to say it, but war is abysmal, it runs off of consuming human life, it produces unthinkable irrational horrors, and it can ruin the human soul.

    This video expresses my heart when I insert the disc into the console. I played this title when it was released, around 1999/2000, with my father. He treasured his Japanese copy because I wasn’t very careful with things (I was very young). ACE COMBAT 3 is what sparked my passion for computing, electronics, electronic music, and I’d add, a certain admiration for UIs. It is my absolute favorite video game, but I think that’s already clear from my nickname :) I was amazed when I logged in for the first time with the soundtrack "Linkage"; it really felt like I was controlling a real computer. The gameplay, the story, and the technical execution are unparalleled. There is no other masterpiece like this one. It’s completely impossible. In 2016, along with my closest friends, we decided to translate it into English and Italian... We worked hard to do it justice, but every second was totally worth it because of people like you. We are immensely grateful that you used our patch. I’m eagerly waiting for the second part. -Naitoraven951 (LWT Staff)

    Is this going to be a strictly story/thematic analysis of AC3? One thing that makes AC3 stand out to me compared to other games in the series is how *weighty* the aircraft you control feels. It isn't as weightless and snappy compared to AC2 or even AC4 after it. I felt like I had to manage my acceleration more to avoid crashing into the ground on gun runs/low passes because my plane would not instantly respond to pull out of a dive if I was going too fast. Another thing was how the missiles track targets. They actually head to a predicted point of impact ahead of where the enemy plane is instead of chasing the enemy planes tail like a rabid dog. It's such a neat touch of realism for a PS1 era game but it made judging if my shot would connect more difficult so I felt like I had to fire an extra one for the self-assurance the enemy was already dead. Also, sub-weapons! AC3 introduced them, did any in particular stand out to you? Would you include any specific Futuristic sub weapons that would only fit in AC3's world, even more advanced than the TLS or railgun introduced in future entries in the series? Did you have any thoughts on how it felt to actually manuver your plane as well?

      I like the enthusiasm. As an opinion, I do like how ACE3 controls. And I think it suits the game greatly. There's a dedicated section in a later part about the controls, when it's more relevant to other topics. It's a detailed section, too. I wouldn't want to undermine my own efforts by typing it out here.

      While it's perhaps outside the scope of an analysis of AC3 (JP) and its achievements, I think it'd also be good to look at the overseas version a bit, and perhaps provide something of an absolution for it despite all the things it lacks compared to the JP original. As more and more people have become aware of what they were missing, the desire to bring more attention to it has in turn led to, in my opinion, disproportionate lambasting of the international release, despite it still being a fun game by virtue of having the gameplay of AC3 (JP). As justified as it may feel to criticise what we got in light of the mundane and lame reasons for it existing (Namco not having the resources nor the guts to adapt AC3's storyline in full to other languages), AC3 is still AC3. But that's just my opinion, and I eagerly await the rest of the videos regardless of the opinions they contain.

    1. Thank god for Load Word Team's work on making the complete localization patch for Ace Combat 3. I hope their work inspires other PS1 modders/devs to do similar complete translation patches to other Japan exclusive games. 2. I pray Bandai Namco and Project Aces will one day port all of the earlier Ace Combat games to modern platforms. 3. I haven't played Ace Combat 6. I'm hoping Xenia Canary will one day have bug free audio in the cutscenes. 4. Question: After you're done with AC3, What Ace Combat game will you analyze next? or maybe even Project Wingman?

      3. If you can nab any kind of Xbox that's 360 onward, ACE6 is fully backward compatible on all models. I can confirm. 4. I'd like to do ACE6. I did have footage and scripts written for ACE CROSS RUMBLE (3DS) and SKY CRAWLERS (Wii) that I dropped because I couldn't do those games justice. I was the wrong person for the job, at those times. I do recommend Sky Crawlers, though. After ACE3, I don't want to touch ACE for a while. I've been staring at ACE3 for a very rough and unfun year, at this point. But the next planned big video project after ACE3 is still technically a flightsim.
