"Back then, I detected mistrust in your words. You always spoke of 'the world she loved", but never once of 'the world I love'. I understood that in truth, this man hated the world. Somehow, I would give this man who had lost his love for the world the power to love it once more."
Komomaura is the friend we all despretly spend our life looking for, but we can take solace in the facf we havent found ours, but others found theres perhaps in us.
Yeah, Aizen did killed Tousen. It was pretty obvious in the manga and anime, but it was confirmed and expanded in the Can't fear your own world light novel
@Rylan_Korpi No, that's not what soul suicide looks like. This is why I get pissed at fans trying to put their opinions in kubo's mouth. Kubo literally shows what a soul suicide looks like several times in the turn back the pendulum arc. People who say that nonsense Don't even know what causes soul suicide to begin with. Tosen was perfectly fused with his hollow form to the extent that he had his own resurrection. Why on earth would soul suicide occur when he was an even more perfect hybrid than the vizoreds?? Soul suicide causes victims to disintegrate into spiritual matter leaving their clothes behind. How on earth did what happened to Tosen look like soul suicide??? He exploded into a puddle of blood. because Aizen did that. That's literally why Komamura screams at Aizen.
@@NEONlights-lb8um Vizards, despite how perfect they seem; are also still capable of soul suicide, I hope you're aware at this. Komamura shouted at Aizen because he caused all of this. He's the reason that Tousen ended up choosing to get hollowfied in the first place.
When I look at Komamura's eyes after Tosen calls him ugly, it's not pain I see, but pity. I think he's disappointed in that moment, seeing how far Tosen has fallen from being the dear friend that Komamura respected. I've always interpreted that moment as his sadness and acceptance that Tosen is truly lost to him.
A lot of people interpret the whole "You are even uglier than I imagined" line literally but I really like it as a metaphorical moment of Tosen realizing that Komamura is ride-or-die for Soul Society and not for the homies and *that* is what makes him ugly.
Dont know if anyone told you. But kubo actually wanted to be a fashion designer. All the bleach fits always goes hard. you can see how much he loves designing
17:05 Kubo is inmaculate drawing facial expressions, Komamura in that panel conveys this disapointment and heart break without words, it is one of my favorite moments for that
Tosen's character arc is easily one of my favorites. I especially love the genuine excitement that Tosen expresses when he can finally see with his eyes. In that moment, he still (and possibly always) considered Komomura his friend. He just couldn't admit to himself he did - hence the crushing insult he threw out immediately after. I would have preferred if Tosen didn't spontaneously combust and simply just slowly closed his eyes, tears beginning to form under his eyes, as he passed from the world. Remember Tosen's character arc and remember it well...
Suzumushi (Tosen's zanpakuto) means cricket. His resurrección, "Grillar Grillo" means "To chirp Cricket" (I think Kubo might had wanted to say something like "Chirping Cricket", which would be "Grillo que grilla"). That's why his resurrección looks like a bug.
Don't most Bleach names have a meaning in Japanese aswell? Maybe Grillar Grillo just lined up better with some Japanese phrase he was trying to match, idk
@pptemplar5840 Actually it does... Somewhat... Maybe. The kanji for "Grillar Grillo" can translated as "crazed cricket". The Spanish word "grillarse" (which I didn't even know it was a word until recently) means to go crazy or lose control. Still, grammatically "Grillar Grillo" doesn't make sense (not that I'm mad or anything, just saying).
@@pptemplar5840Arrancar are typically Romance languages with their zanpakuto names and release commands mostly being Spanish. Shinigami are Japanese Quincy are German.
@@victorhernandez-uy7wr Yes but Cero means "Hollow Flash" in JP and "Zero" in spanish, Hierro is "Iron" in spanish, but "Steel Skin" in Japanese. A lot of them just have dual meaning was my point, not sure if Tosen's resurrection does, just that maybe the fudge on grammar could be intentional if it sounds similar to something in Japanese.
One aspect that I thought was super interesting is how Komamura, on some level, knew Tosen wasn’t being fully truthful (though he obviously didn’t know the full extent) - catching a small note in how Tosen said he would fight for the world "his friend loved", but crucially not the world Tosen loved. It's really cool because, to me, it does show that Komamura caught a small piece of Tosen’s true nature. Also, I know Tosen's arc is about 'revenge isn't good,' but I thought his speech asking how could he coexist with a society that killed his friend is lowkey onto something. I feel like it was kind of glossed over here, but the thing to note is that his friend married a Soul Reaper, then was later killed by her husband when she attempted to stop his quarrel. And as this husband was royalty, essentially, he got away with it. That's really messed up, and I think does point to something being really bad in Soul Society. (Edit: Grammer)
Without spoilers, the killer of Tosen's friend is in the light novel "Cant fear your own world." The character never appeared in the manga but has affected many parts of Bleach's story
My favorite thing about this fight (and what I've called "The Tousen Effect" even since I first saw it) is that Tousen's defeat isn't just him being blind to an attack, but very specifically him being blinded by sight itself. The Tousen from before his transformation, the one without no sight whatsoever, would have surely seen this coming. Yet when distracted by this new sense and all of these new colors and images, he completely lost sight of all the things he was able to see before. "The Tousen Effect" is when as a result of a new quality, you become far more complacent than you were, making a direct improvement your very downfall. It's something we experience in daily life all the time in fact, like when trying a new strategy in a game for example, or when switching from an old model of something to a new one. The new version may be better, but you aren't used to it, and so it will inevitably perform worse when compared to your mastery of whatever you were doing before. It's something so natural and common, but something many people don't really think about. And in Tousen's case, it was the most intense it could possibly be. He had been blind his entire life, so just imagine how immensely powerful and overwhelming sight would be for him. Of course he'd focus his entire attention to it, and of course he'd lose sight of everything else entirely. Completely and utterly wasting all of those countless years of training he had spent mastering fighting in his blindness. There's something just so satisfying and ironic in the very power he betrayed everyone to acquire being the cause for his defeat. And realizing that he probably could have won this fight if he used his Bankai instead of Resurrección (which he didn't because it was incompatible with his sight of course) makes it all the better.
He was also metaphorically blind by sight since when he was blind, he didnt judge komamura by his appearance since he had no idea what it was, but once he got sight he immediately called sajin ugly despite having turned into a horrendous beast himself, showcasing his hypocrisy
what i love is that the philosophy of Komamura and Tosen expands to TYBW providing an underrated not talked enough character development of Komamura which adds another layer of how right Tosen was by adopting that justice path Man, Kubo is a genius
Congratulations. You are the only content creator that can get me to drop whatever it is i'm doing when you upload. It's hard to believe you created this channel just because of a single manga storypoint.
Recently saw a thing that hinted that Tousen had hollow powers as early was Ichigo's first fight with Grimjow. When he came to retrieve Grimjow, Tousen opened the Garganta with easy, much like how the Arrancar do.
Tosen is such a cool character, when you eventually read the TYBW arc (final arc), you should seek out the light novel tie in that expands on Tosen and Aizen a bit more, Hisagi as well as the killer of Tosen's friend... It expands on the lore of Bleach as well, and it's generally a really good read, much recommended.
Kubo confirmed that indeed, all visored can attain resurrección. I don't think the form Ichigo took against Ulquiorra was his resurrección, because despite the full mask with horns, he still looked humanoid, apart from his skin being pure white, underneath the mask was Ichigo... I'd say the form he took when he was training with Shinji and the Visored is his "true form", albeit incomplete. He had a tail, he was bulkier and more animalistic than human, and it wasn't just a mask, he had a full hierro (exoskeleton) and had Ichigo not tamed it in time, he could've evolved even further, maybe even grew a set of wings or something, who knows? But yeah, the Vasto Lorde form that Ichigo took was just the base stage, similar to Tosen's sleak design with the blank mask. Even their hair being longer is similar. It's just that Ichigo even in a berserk state at half his normal power, in base hollow form is probably the most powerful character up to this point in the manga that you've seen in action, so it makes sense that you'd associate that form with ressurrección. Edit: Oh, also the obvious fact that he has Zangetsu in his hand means he's still in a sealed state, since ressurreccion merges the Zanpakutou and the Arrancar as a part of the transformation. I think that's a dead giveaway.
I always imagined that Ichigo's Resurreccion would be similar to the form he took during Visord training as well, but I also imagined that his Segunda Etapa would resemble the form he took against Ulquiorra.
Absolutely love Tosen. It’s such a shame that the fandom underestimates him and his contribution to the story. IMO the most dimensional of the 3 traitors and one of the few that has a complete character arc with a satisfying end. A feat a lot of characters in the story don’t really get.
There's some more info i'll drop, it's not a spoiler, it's from a side story that i dont know if you'll read or not. So if you plan to read Cant Fear Your Own World, then dont read this, but if not, this isnt going to spoil anything really. Basically, we get a quick scene of aizen recalling a moment he shared with tosen in hueco mundo. There, tosen talks about his conviction to aizen's cause, like genuine conviction. And he says to aizen something like "if i ever start to question myself, or consider rejoining the sould reapers, just kill me there and then". And that's what aizen did in this chapter, when he saw tosen begin to cry and realize what he had done. In a way, you could even say he was honoring tosen's wishes
I love this fight, Komamura is a true friend 🦊 Perhaps someone already mentioned it but the novel CFYOW actually expands a little on Tosen, introducing the husband and murderer of Kakyo (his friend). Without much spoilers, he was a member of one of the 5 Great Noble Families, which is a reason why he came out unpunished despite his actions, coming to understand more Tosen's hate, since Soul Society never was that partial and fair system.
This was among the most emotionally charged confrontations in the series especially given the history the three share and Tousen's tragic rise to betrayal. His gruesome end makes it all the more heartbreaking. Nothing left to bury..........
3:08 You should have suspected it also because back when Grimmjow led his Fraccions to the World of the Living, Kaname went after them by opening a Garganta from Hueco Mundo to the World of the Living. If you’ve been paying attention you would know that regular Soul Reapers can’t do that! That’s why the 4 Captains were trapped in Hueco Mundo after Aizen ordered the Gargantas closed. Only Hollows can naturally open Gargantas and Visoreds are part Hollow! So when Kaname opened the Garganta by himself that was a hint he was no longer a normal Soul Reaper!
Finally the fight I was waiting for, but sadly missing something I wanted to see. Amazing video and analysis as always anyway. See, Sajin is my favorite Manga character and this fight shows how much Tōsen and his friendship mattered to him, thats why I'm very disappointed with the lack of Komamura's view in the video. This fight has my (BY FAR) favorite monologue in whole BLEACH, when Komamura starts talking about what he felt when he knew Tōsen and his decision of being a good friend so Tōsen could change the way he saw the world, it shows how much Komamura loved him, and that Sajin knew Tōsen wasn't a saint from the beggining, but still chose to help him and be there for him. "I was glad you weren't a saint who claimed to love the world even after what you'd lost. That's why I decided to become a true friend to you. If you knew sadness, I would embrace it. If I knew joy, you would share it. if you went astray, I would correct you. if you made a mistake, I would forgive you. When you had nowhere to go, I would be your refuge. All so that this man who could no longer love the world, might love it again." Those were such beautiful and genuine words, that showed how much Komamura valued their friendship, and probably the most emotion we see in a bleach monologue. Sadly you didn't talk about this, I was hoping you could've analized it, as I always enjoy the way you see and the new perspective you add to those interactions. But great video nonetheless, waiting for the next one!
Aizen definitely executed Tosen, he basically admitted he didn't want Tosen to regret his actions before he died, so ended him then and there. In comparison, at least by Aizens standards, its leagues ahead of the sendoff he gave to his other Arrancar. Aizen respected Tosen in some way at least.
12:00 thats the messaging with tosens character, that trying to get revenge will only lead to destruction and burnt bridges, and it may not even be what the person youre avenging wants as well
Just to add, Tosen when blind said that Komamura wasn't ugly,he is not talking about looks or something like that, it's because the beast apparence is only for Lower ranked souls than others, something similar to the hollows, not in powers or biology, but in the soul. Komamura has a lower rank soul. We have little to no info in these other "races" or about the lower ranking soul. Tosen calling him ugly once he gains his vision just show how fucked up he got. I will not elaborate on the lower rank soul thing because somethings are spoilers and I don't have the time to write 56 paragraphs.
The thing about Tousen is that he is blind. He advocates for a blind type of justice, a justice that is innocent and perfect in its innocence. The moment he gains vision the faceless mask shatters and the perfect justice turns to grudge and revenge. Him saying that Komamura is ugly is the final line to be crossed. With vision he has become equal to everything that he despised. Its fucking genius. He is the monster that he has made everyone to be.
i've always adored komamura's face after tōsen calls him ugly; it doesn't look like pain, or even sadness - the only thing i can see in his eyes is pity for tōsen and how this corruption has taken away what was truly left of him. i think that that was the moment when komamura genuinely realized that the tōsen he knew was gone, or was never even there to begin with
I loved the whole fight Tousen has with Komamura and the dynamic throughout it. Komamura was willing to help him as perhaps his only friend aside from Hisagi. Tousen was willing to become corrupted and gain hollow powers to go against the very organization that took his friend from him and did nothing about her death. Even though Tousen's death in the end was unexpected it was explained further in the novels so we understand his reasons more. He didnt even wanna go back with Komamura but you could see his heart was being swayed, in the novels he promised to Aizen to be killed off if he were to be swayed back as a Soul Reaper. I'd like to imagine if he didn't then maybe he would've been redeemed so long as the Soul Society's government system is changed for the better like he wanted. I was originally hoping he was saved.
YESSSS YESSSS YESSSS IM SO HAPPY FINALLY MY FAVORITE PUPPY DOG IS GETTING THE SPOTLIGHT!!! I genuinely CANNOT EXPLAIN how much I love Sajin, his entire speech to Tousen about loving the world for him and giving him everything he needs to love once again is so goddamned loving and I NEED HIM badly it's UNREAL. It comes off as somewhat romantic, if not a straight up confession mixed with genuine feelings of partnership, and Kubo knows how to write the sadness of such an amazing character so, so well. The HEARTBREAKING face Sajin makes in response to hearing Tousen call him ugly is nothing more than beautiful, no words are said, Sajin just, stares at him. He looks angry; but sad? but just, upset in a way that he can't recognize Tousen anymore the way he used to, and that just hurts, I'm so glad that in Tousens end, he got to revert back to the form that Sajin knew him as, and he got to see Sajins face one last time in a way that truly mattered before Aizen kills him in such a horrific way.
I've always felt this specific fight was very poetic, probably Kubo's most poetic fight for the whole bleach, and the fact that it was Hisagi the one who defeats Tosen was something that, just like Tosen, I didn't see coming when I read it for the first time, I do think That what Tosen said to Komamura about his appearance was not exactly true, but rather a taunt trying to make Komamura attackhim in a fit of rage, but it was still a pretty nasty comment to say. cannot wait to see what you think about the incoming battles
I absolutely loved this fight, and I'm glad that you enjoyed it. This made me a big Komamura fan. I like Tosen, but him insulting Komamura's appearance makes me furious at him. Looking forward to the next reaction!
I always wish Tosen was a bit more flushed out and his relationship with Aizen who he believes is part of that justice was expanded on more. Unfortunetly that’s reserved for Can’t fear your own world which takes place after the series is over. But yeah love how much you dove into Tosen’s relationships and how he is trying to distance himself from the shinigami. Then he *explodes*
Barely started the video yet but Hisagi is one of my favourite characters in bleach, for an army of people who for the most part are de sensitized seeing someone with his viewpoint is so unique.
A tiny thing I love about Tosen, is that as far as I know he's the only shinigami we see with a silver guard on his zanpakuto. Normally the soul reapers have gold guards and the arrancar have silver guards, foreshadowing the ressurecion.
Told ya' you'd love this fight. It's not even that Tosen says Komamura's ugly after finally being able to see that disappoints Komamura, it's that Tosen says he imagined it. All this time his best friend has been thinking on how ugly he must be.
So I think an interesting counter point to Tousen is, not sure if it's surprising or not, Ichigo. Ichigo saw wrong with SS, and went to change it. And while he didn't completely change everything, it has changed. Byakuya would not have let Renji and Rukia go at the start of the story, he's changed. Zaraki had changed. Shunsui and Ukitake have shown they are now willing to act when they weren't willing to do the same for Lisa and Co being Hollowfied and put on the execution stand, only after someone else has moved. Arguably even Mayuri has changed a little after losing to Ishida, he went after Orihime pretty brashfully and almost died but against Szayelappero he outright says he wouldn't be in the fight if he wasn't ready. Ichigo acting on his honest feelings made a change, he was able to connect to these characters and it had a ripple affect. Tousen though skulked in the shadows, joined a monster like Aizen, lied to the people closest to him. He couldn't be honest, couldn't change people's minds, instead he stewed in the dark and became his worst self. To stubborn, to vengeful, and to willing to stay in his own hate to truly make things better.
Around 24:10 Note how we can't see the complete look of Aizens mouth, it could be up, just like it could be down, this is important to know, because Kubo loves to play with *REFLEXIONS* and hiding stuff in the open, i would recommend to go and look back at places where there could be reflexions of characters faces... Because there is a lot of hints around there.
I think the reason I always loved Saint-14's helmet from Destiny is because of how it kinda resembles Tosen's mask. The design is great despite being so simple.
I'm so glad you reached this fight! It was one of the coolest and interesting battles in Bleach for me, since it delved into the characters. I'm excited to see how you react to everything else. Have a nice day :)
Love seeing someone appreciate this much an anime I deeply love, and still today, often looked down. After you finish all of current Bleach, yeah Thousand Years Blood War included, is strongly recommend to read the light novels, specially "Can't Fear Your Own World", since it develops further many of these characters. There are other novels, but I'm not sure of the right chronological order. Love your channel, keep the great work up, the best is yet to come. PS: I don't know if you have checked out FullMetal Alchemist. To many people, one of the greatest mangas/animes (FMA Brotherhood) there is. Ask the community, I'm sure they'll agree.
Bleach has a very strong theme of losing yourself by pursuing Revenge. Tosen story is a tragic one, and knowing more about what happened to him, makes his desire to destory the Soul Society understandable. The more you learn about the world of Bleach, the more gray is becomes...
@@guilhermenovo8967Not entirely sure how you interpret the comment above but just in case, Tsunayashiro Tokinada was the one who killed Tousen's friend & fucked over Ginjo's life by killing his friends & putting the blame on Ukitake, creating distrust between the two.
Everyone has already said it but now with cour 3 of TYBW in full swing and the light novels going even deeper into some of this has me so hyped for when we finally catch up to the anime. Maybe we will be able to do live watch/read - along with cour 4 of the anime, that would be peak for me, but we got a long way to go on both sides before we can begin to think about that.
I like how komamura defended Ichigo when it came to his hollow powers considering we never really had other characters reactions to it and how they feel about it
Here's 2 fun facts Fact 1: Kubo answered a Q&A that asked him how was Tosen able to do a resurrection. He basically said that if hollowfication extends far enough into the body, they basically become arrancars. So Tosen is basically an Arrancar more than a Soul Reapers. Fact 2: The Cfyow novel heavily goes waaay deeper into Tosen's backstory and the whole situation with his friend. With that added context, in my eyes Tosen is completely Justified in his crash out behavior.
It would have been nice if Ichigo got a Resurrection. Seems like a waste to give Tosen one but not Ichigo. His Resureccion could have even been the same form as his Vasto Lorde form but Ichigo would be conscious.
This fight goes really hard and I cant wait for you to see the "rest" of what i call this 3 part sidestory, Tosen is the first part, Komamura has a moment that expands on the themes in TYBW and im sure everyone already told you, but read CFYOW once you finish the manga/anime, it really expands and complements the whole Tosen, Komamura and Hisagi storyline
I hope that when you finish reading the Bleach manga, you read the novel Can't fear your Own World, because there are a lot of revelations there that just make the world and lore of Bleach even more fascinating.
Same man, komamura and tousen is my favourite pair dynamic. So sad to see one of them go just like this, but alas, komamura's suffering isn't over yet...
Maybe ironically, his fear of being assimilated with soul reapers, is what acted as a barrier for his character growth. He is physically blind, yes. But he also chose to be internally blind, because of his fear.
Tosen’s bankai, idea of justice and betrayal of the SS make a lot of sense when you analyze it. Tosen takes great pain in how he was wronged by the system, and about his eyes. His idea of justice is projected onto others, because deep down he wants others to feel dominated and suffer like he has, namely the soul society. So of course his bankai takes away from others (and then some) what he had already lost
I don't know if you plan on touching on it after you finish Bleach, but the sort of epilogue to Bleach called Can't Fear Your Own World, plays a lot with Tosen's history and who he was. Hisagi gets a lot more fleshed out throughout the CFOW novels, and adds layers to his relationship with his former captain.
Despite being a subscriber, I never see your videos more than once when they get uploaded. I could find your channel the whole day today, and I couldn’t remember your exact name. I was looking up all bleach videos in the last 24 hours. Turns out, looking up bleach barrage fan put you at the top of the list for me haha
Just wait til you get to Heart of Wolf. Not gonna spoil anything of course but it just made me more excited for you to get to Thousand-Year Blood War arc
I love how Tōsen, being the only blind captain, is in a way the 'perfect counter' for Aizen and his Kyōka Suigetsu (at least in theory of course, Aizen is too powerful for him to actually do anything). For me, this symbolically reinforces the idea of Tōsen voluntarily choosing (with probably the help of, as you said, some of Aizen manipulation) to betray his friends and the path of corruption. This symbolism, of not being affected by Kyouka Suigetsu (at least up to this point, no spoilers), I think also speaks a lot about the relationship between Ichigo and Aizen. This becomes more relevant when they eventually have their confrontation.
The way Tousen's mask breaks open around his mouth foreshadows the monstrosity he goes on to become. In screaming out his motivations and understanding of justice, he becomes more and more unhinged.
Idk if anyone brought it up yet but the reason why Tosen turned into a bug is because his zanpakuto is suzumushi, which means bell cricket in japanese.
You probably didn't consider any of them having masks because of how aizen speaks about both it and the vizard, when he flees at the end of soul society idk if he states it but he does give the vibes that he has moved from that and when the vizard show up he says that they (probably as a group, but it sounds like he's talking about the concept of a vizard) where just a stepping stone on his persue of power calling them mock arrancars, so it does give the impression that it's not something that he cares much for these days
Hey Agamotto! I have been loving these reviews and perspective you have about the series. I've been wanting to comment and ask about the music you pick for them. What is the evil, spooky track, with the laughter you use? In this video it starts around 11:40
As someone else noted: Yes any hollowfied Soul Reaper can preform Ressureccion. Tosen was just the only who chose to do it. But I am adding another nugget from the same Q&A where Kubo confimed Hollowfied Soul Reapers can use Reseureccion: Any powerful arrancar with training, (the example being Grimjow) can learn to use Segundo Etapa. As that is solely supplemental material from the same Q&A I felt that was okay to share.
In the novel that explands some parts of Bleach that Kubo was not able to put in the manga, we learn a lot more about Tosen´s friend situation and the main behind it, Tokinada. It´s also revelead there that the Aizen Tosen explodes it´s cause Aizen promised Tosen that he wouldn´t let him die as a Soul Reaper so he killed him while he still had vision from the Hollowfication
Re: Resurrecion-- for Arrancar, it's a return to their true, original, Hollow form. Ichigo's transformation may or may not qualify as a true Resurrecion in terms of technique, but at its core, that was the Hollow coming fully out. All Visored should theoretically have a similar transformation, because they all have that Inner Hollow threatening to overtake them. The question is more about whether they can do it at will, or do it and still come back afterwards. I'd guess Tosen being able to do it at will is just indicative of his complete (albeit self-imposed) lack of empathy to begin with-- Arguably the most definitive personality trait of a true Hollow. He honestly feels like a logical foil to Starrk (a Hollow with a tremendous amount of empathy returning to him) and I wish we'd seen them interact a little bit more on that note.
Ah an Agamoto video, this can get me through til Saturday. I definitely felt creeped out by his look, and he was a jerk in this section and I hope it’s him trying to protect komamuras feelings.
I'm so confused by how universally everyone seems to agree that Tosen's resurrección is ugly. I genuinely really like it and it being a big winged insect is such a perfect evolution for Tosen since his zanpakuto has always had bugs, specifically crickets, on the names
Tosen was blind his whole life how he can tell what looks ugly or what looks beautiful visually on his first impression. He just said it to piss off Komamura. And Sajin Komamura ended up understanding that. He understood that Tosen is tryimg to get full hate possible.
when u get to tybm watch anime too because kubo added so much more to anime then manga because during the time of manga he got sick and was not able to fully flesh it out tybm arc is one of the best arc on bleach but in manga it is has its problem due to being rushed so now he himself is adding new stuff in anime
So, remember when I said Lisa's mask was my favorite out of the Vizard because of it's simple faceless design and all that? Yeah, should be no surprise that I LOVE Tousen's. It has pretty much all of the things I loved about Lisa's, except it fits and compliments the rest of his design even better than hers did, and is being worn by a much more fleshed out and relevant character, which gives the design itself a bit more weight.
I must say that I didn't really care about this fight the first time I watched the anime but After reading the Can't fear you're own world light novel and seeing you're video it feels like I was the blind one
"Back then, I detected mistrust in your words. You always spoke of 'the world she loved", but never once of 'the world I love'. I understood that in truth, this man hated the world. Anyone who had their loved one taken from them would be like that. I thought it was good that you're not the kind of man that spouted saintly words about loving the world despite everything that happened.
"That's why I decided to be a true friend. If you bore great sadness, I would take it upon myself. If I obtained great joy, I would share it with you. If you strayed from your path, I would scold you. If you made terrible mistakes, I would forgive you. If the world scorned you, I would be your shelter. Somehow, I would give this man who had lost his love for the world the power to love it once more."
My favorite poem definitely ❤️🐺
Komomaura is the friend we all despretly spend our life looking for, but we can take solace in the facf we havent found ours, but others found theres perhaps in us.
That’s powerful
Yeah, Aizen did killed Tousen. It was pretty obvious in the manga and anime, but it was confirmed and expanded in the Can't fear your own world light novel
People also say that it would have been better if this was just soul suicide. His would have occured soon, so it could have been left at that.
"It was stated in CFYW" 🗣🗣🗣
@@NEONlights-lb8um Vizards, despite how perfect they seem; are also still capable of soul suicide, I hope you're aware at this. Komamura shouted at Aizen because he caused all of this. He's the reason that Tousen ended up choosing to get hollowfied in the first place.
@@-_-murilo2865 Yeah how dare Kubo create a media to answer all of the questions that we had.
So ironic you posted this video today, not sure if anybody already mentioned it but it's Tosen's birthday today!
Oh wow! Happy birthday to him! 🦗
A nice coincidence indeed
Serendipitous!
A lot of people interpret the whole "You are even uglier than I imagined" line literally
but I really like it as a metaphorical moment of Tosen realizing that Komamura is ride-or-die for Soul Society and not for the homies and *that* is what makes him ugly.
Fr. Komamaru literally does this by doing what he does in TYBW. He was also fine with Rukia's execution cause he'd obey Yamamoto
I mean, that's kinda weird considering this is a fight between friends and not a solder of soul society and an enemy
Dont know if anyone told you. But kubo actually wanted to be a fashion designer. All the bleach fits always goes hard. you can see how much he loves designing
I hadn’t heard that! Makes all the sense in the world!
@@agamotto5354Also all the outfits Bleach charecters like Ichigo wear casually are actually available in shops around Japan
One of the best fights of the arc and arguably whole series. Sajin and Tosen are both so underrated and brilliantly written characters
17:05 Kubo is inmaculate drawing facial expressions, Komamura in that panel conveys this disapointment and heart break without words, it is one of my favorite moments for that
I can't wait for you to read Can't fear your own world. Made me look at the series in a completely different way.
Well about the aizen and tosen thing it's not really a spoiler, but it's probably better to let him know after the final fight.
Same here. I really hope that they animate it.
Big agree
@@bmxgu2361 Do you think they will do the Naruto thing where they animated all those extra novels at the end? I kinda hope so.
Pov: it's 2 a.m. here but Agamotto posted a new Bleach video
Me: I'll sleep another day
È lo stesso per me 😂
@edoardoprevelato6577 ahahahah d'altronde siamo entrambi italiani
@@pptemplar5840 That's not a translation of those words from japanese, it's their accompanying kanji. Hollow terms are purely spanish in origin.
On the topic of outfits. You could say that for a blind man, he really was a
Looker ᗜˬᗜ
Heh ᗜˬᗜ...

Admiration is the furthest thing from understanding. Aizen said so
What Aizen argues against is zealotry, not mere admiration.
what i love is that the philosophy of Komamura and Tosen expands to TYBW providing an underrated not talked enough character development of Komamura which adds another layer of how right Tosen was by adopting that justice path
Man, Kubo is a genius
Also his sentence when he saw komamura for the first time means something else when you know what will happen
Congratulations. You are the only content creator that can get me to drop whatever it is i'm doing when you upload.
It's hard to believe you created this channel just because of a single manga storypoint.
14:14 Well, Ichigo did, indeed, resurrect
I love this fight, Komamura is a true friend 🦊
Perhaps someone already mentioned it but the novel CFYOW actually expands a little on Tosen, introducing the husband and murderer of Kakyo (his friend).
All so that this man who could no longer love the world, might love it again."
Those were such beautiful and genuine words, that showed how much Komamura valued their friendship, and probably the most emotion we see in a bleach monologue.
Aizen respected Tosen in some way at least.
the design of tosen when he first transforms is peak kubo, so good./
12:00 thats the messaging with tosens character, that trying to get revenge will only lead to destruction and burnt bridges, and it may not even be what the person youre avenging wants as well
Fun fact the person who killed tosen’s friend is the main villain in the light novels
This was the best fight in fake karakura town in my opinion. It was fantastic
My personal favorite fight in Bleach is finally here!
🪰🐺
4:56 the line running down his face also signifies his narrow-minded view of the world at this point.
i've always adored komamura's face after tōsen calls him ugly; it doesn't look like pain, or even sadness - the only thing i can see in his eyes is pity for tōsen and how this corruption has taken away what was truly left of him. i think that that was the moment when komamura genuinely realized that the tōsen he knew was gone, or was never even there to begin with
I loved the whole fight Tousen has with Komamura and the dynamic throughout it.
"Don't throw your life away for revenge" -Komamura's words to live by. So sad to see Tousen go, he was really popping off this episode.
6:11 xD Just the tone and delivery of all those sentence fragments cracked me up for some reason.
Saving this for the commute to work tomorrow but I'm always so excited to see your reactions
I love you, finally someone who understands the point of Tōsen resurrection ❤
The next arc is related to the shinigami responsible for tosen friend dead , but is never mentioned
Waaaaaait that's what he did ?
@@guilhermenovo8967Not entirely sure how you interpret the comment above but just in case, Tsunayashiro Tokinada was the one who killed Tousen's friend & fucked over Ginjo's life by killing his friends & putting the blame on Ukitake, creating distrust between the two.

The vizards don't have complete hollowfication, Tosen more or less does....Aizen calls the vizards his "experiments" or "mock arrancar"
One fav part is komamura forgiving tosen
Also the way hisagi did the final blow and symbolism
It's so good being at work (it's 6am here) and all of a sudden Agamotto posts a video to kill my boredom
My feeling is that you're nearing a pivotal moment kinda like a roller coaster that once it hits you're in for a wild ride
A Gin Hollow Mask would be interesting, I wonder what it would reveal about him.
I like how komamura defended Ichigo when it came to his hollow powers considering we never really had other characters reactions to it and how they feel about it
Man you are going to love Sajin's character arc. And Im gonna be here to enjoy your vid about it.
14:32 yeah pretty much, kubo confirmed it recently
Here's 2 fun facts
Fact 1:
Kubo answered a Q&A that asked him how was Tosen able to do a resurrection. He basically said that if hollowfication extends far enough into the body, they basically become arrancars. So Tosen is basically an Arrancar more than a Soul Reapers.
Fact 2:
The Cfyow novel heavily goes waaay deeper into Tosen's backstory and the whole situation with his friend.
I cannot wait till you get to the light novels if ever. Can’t Fear Your Own World
This fight goes really hard and I cant wait for you to see the "rest" of what i call this 3 part sidestory, Tosen is the first part, Komamura has a moment that expands on the themes in TYBW and im sure everyone already told you, but read CFYOW once you finish the manga/anime, it really expands and complements the whole Tosen, Komamura and Hisagi storyline
Good, I'm glad you enjoyed this. It's one of my favorites too. Also one of the best Ws in the series.
Tosen met Aizen before he met sajin and hisagi I think. Tosen even introduces Aizen to sajin I believe
How have you not done a mayuri fashion analysis yet or did i miss the video?
Hey Agamotto! I have been loving these reviews and perspective you have about the series.
I've been wanting to comment and ask about the music you pick for them. What is the evil, spooky track, with the laughter you use? In this video it starts around 11:40
As someone else noted:
Yes any hollowfied Soul Reaper can preform Ressureccion.
Glad you caught why Tosen's resurrección looks the way it does. Most people just wrote it off as a bad design 😭😭😭
17:01 that made me tear up. Even now 😭😭😭💔💔💔
I perceive that scene as Komamura thinking: -Really now, look at yourself first! :D
Been waiting for this one, funny that it's uploaded on Tousens birthday lol
Oh man i cant wait for the next reaction, its one of the peaks of the series! Another great video Agamotto, keep it up :)
also this ties into the nobles are scum once you find out the husband of tosen's friend
Ah an Agamoto video, this can get me through til Saturday. I definitely felt creeped out by his look, and he was a jerk in this section and I hope it’s him trying to protect komamuras feelings.
This battle is sooo good!
I was expecting this moment for so long!
He understood that Tosen is tryimg to get full hate possible.
when u get to tybm
watch anime too because kubo added so much more to anime then manga
because during the time of manga he got sick and was not able to fully flesh it out
tybm arc is one of the best arc on bleach but in manga it is has its problem due to being rushed
so now he himself is adding new stuff in anime
So, remember when I said Lisa's mask was my favorite out of the Vizard because of it's simple faceless design and all that? Yeah, should be no surprise that I LOVE Tousen's. It has pretty much all of the things I loved about Lisa's, except it fits and compliments the rest of his design even better than hers did, and is being worn by a much more fleshed out and relevant character, which gives the design itself a bit more weight.
I must say that I didn't really care about this fight the first time I watched the anime but After reading the Can't fear you're own world light novel and seeing you're video it feels like I was the blind one
