Total respect for posting a video like this because I'm thinking there are days where you strap on your camera go out to these garage sales and end up getting nothing so it's great to see one where you got nothing, hope the next outings are more successful.
This is why I've been following you for awhile now man. You are probably by far one of the most realistic youtubers out there! Not every sale is going to be a homerun. Not every purchase or item you find is going to be a homerun! My point is, sometimes you have to struggle to find the best and meet your goals of finding the items that you're looking for to resale. Thanks buddy for showing the truth of what it really is out there. A lot of other youtubers love to just show-boat the goods that they find and that's it. Not the reality. Good luck I hope you find some good stuff soon.
I appreciate your honesty. Been watching for years and thankful for your tips and tricks. They have helped out a lot. You are way more real, at least from your videos, than most people on TH-cam.
The ladies running the yard sales must all get together. Everyone mentioned the others yard sales down the street. Love your transparency, not always going to find that life changing item to resell.😊❤
I used to be more into picking up anything and everything just to have it sit forever and not sell. Low and behold all that stuff will be at my garage sale this weekend.
Just had a garage sale last week. Got rid of many totes of items I picked up but never listed. Made over 400 in two days... but most importantly I got some space back. I'm in my 4th year selling on ebay and I'm much pickier with my buys now.
I tracked our day out - adding each stop to my iPhone calendar. 80 yard sales in one day - found 11 items to sell on eBay. I typically add the stops anyway but was very intentional a few weeks back to see for myself. Also about 76 miles round trip(s).
I love your channel so much. Most of the other channels Ive seen I get an icky feeling because of how they run up to things and are so grabby. You have always come across as humble, reserved, and yet you still find great scores with a lot of class. :)
John it’s great that you show the flip side and reality of garage sales. When I first started as a reseller I bought almost everything and now have become selective with a $50.00 minimum sale per item and my sell through rate is now about 90% in a 90 day period. It used to be about 50%. As they say, time is money that is the truth!!!
Your channel is always a breath of fresh air. I've stopped watching most the other big channels, cant take anymore of the clickbait "Millionaire estate sale jackpot find! We were shocked!!!" It's gotten old...
Used to be able to find items that had value at garage sales and thrift shops up to 15 years ago. Since then people are smarter about knowing the value of items and are more likely to place the item on marketplace or Ebay. Every once in a while I will find something but now it is pretty rare. Even Goodwill has there own auction website where they place anything of any value. Finding something at their store is pretty rare.
(((( I'M mostly into investing in vintage pop culture and rings and Broaches and certain small things. I would trade tons of my big awesome things for smaller awesome things!!
We always find something but we looking for items to sell on ebay as well as the flea market and antique booths we have. But yes, many sales just have absolutely nothing
The majority of garage sale videos on youtube are similar to the majority of slot machine videos. They make you think you will win big every time you go to the casino. But anybody who goes to casino's on a regular basis knows that, more often than not, they will come home with less money than they started with. Thanks for making things look real!
This is my reality with every one I hit, but in fairness when you're only looking for sports cards, that narrow of a field is going to cause it lol. Keep up the good work CP. Need a sale on WN soon too 😁
Yup I'm seeing a lot of new faces all of a sudden recently. From teenagers to seniors. Not sure if it's because of tik tok, youtubers, or the inflation. But most of the time they come and go.
Good video. I always mention in my videos that not everything I buy turns into tons of money like some other videos might lead you to believe. I think another aspect people don't realize is, it's a LOT of work. Finding stuff, research, taking pictures, listing, packing, going to the post office, dealing with returns, getting supplies etc. And, as you talked about, going out and spending the day driving all over and coming home with nothing.
Thank you John. This IS reality. Last week, my John and I drove out from our home in Granite Falls, Wa to Shelton, Washington to our church retreat in Seabeck, Washington. I'd wanted to go there cause I saw someone from a facebook thrifting group find good stuff out there. Went to 5 thrift stores and one rummage sale. Came home with a Disney bag and two glass vases. Reality.
Appreciate it John. It's not all lined with candies and roses. Persistence and knowing what to buy is key. A good price doesn't always means a good resale. Can't wait for your next Whatnot.
Haha it's funny that you mentioned this cause I just put out a garage sale video a couple days ago on my channel and for most of the day there wasnt much happening until like my 10th sale where I find some video games.
Hello from Iran. I'm a handmade jewelry seller, in Tehran's friday market, the famous Parvaneh Market. I found your videos very calming, informative, interesting and friendly. I wish you good luck on your sales. Please keep this up.
You start walking up to a yard sale and some cranky neighbor comes out shouting stuff like!="I want this crap out of here RIGHT NOW!!!!",,,,,,hee hee! It could happen!
It still makes for a fun video.....seeing different folks and how they value their stuff. But my questuin of the day is:"What kind of contract will Elly de la Cruz get when he hits free agency!?"...🤩 Its not that far away
Hi Garage saleing buying is like feast or famine sometimes I fill up at the first second one other times I can go to 30 with out finding anything I use a few sourceing sources as back ups and I can say I will always find something listable every day but some days are better then others LOL
I do have to say that you have helped me over the year in selling. I just have to get back to posting things back online and getting my inventory back now that my move is over. Nothing worse then moving when everything has to be packed up.
Honestly, 95% of items at garage sales are absolutely worthless (to a reseller)! That's why having sources/networking is SOOOO important!! I'm buying a ton of amazing items today from a guy, that I met through another guy, that I met through another guy (no, I'm not joking)! I was able to get his cell # and we've been negotiating back and forth for 2 weeks now. Networking is critical or you're just waisting your time!!!
I'm super selective, so I leave a lot of sales and thrift shops empty-handed. You gotta be able to walk away and keep the hunt up somewhere else for good inventory! A lot of newer "pickers" will just find stuff to buy for the sake of buying and you just know that stuff is gonna sit ages before being listed(if it ever is).
I have had many days where I find nothing, zero, zilch. However the next day or week I would find so much I thought I should play the lottery. Last weekend I was not finding hardly anything then at one sale (the last one) I found enough to make up for the whole day, And it all sold within 2 days of listing. The ups and downs of the reselling life, not as easy and simple as most think it is.
Hey John, can u make a video on tips to starting an ebay business? How much should you be buying. How to organize your inventory. What essentials you need and dont need right away. Also is it smart to get a PO box? Thanks in advance.
Honestly, there's tons of those videos on TH-cam, but they don't do that well. Most resellers who watch these videos already know most of those tips, so were not going to watch a new video about getting started.
You almost scored by asking qs on the baseball gloves … are you doing a minimum on resell value such as 20 or 30 bucks on comps? I’m finding the smaller value items clog my storage and are not worth the time listing/packing etc… unless it’s a multi qty easy lister. ✌️☘️🍻
thanks for posting this kind of video, theres alot of fake content out there that makes it look like they find home runs every day, this is really a good look at what it is really like
Believe it or not those ice trays, from the ladies telling about other sales, do good as long as COG is 0.25-0.50 each and you bundle. I'm sorry but you can't tell me there was absolutely nothing at those 5 garage sales because unless you edited a bunch of footage you barely looked at most tables. I saw possible uranium glass, bunches of CD's which at most sales I've been to are 0.50 each or less. Hard Rock ie AC/DC, Metallica, KISS and Rap do well. Sale through rate isn't a bunch but COG low. Remember on next video you picked up pumpkins with 10% STR.
Sometimes its more profitable to walk away empty handed then with your arms full of junk. I needed this reminder!!
Finally a reseller that tells the truth and not fake it just to get more views.
Love that you showed this side of it, people tend to forget that you won’t always strike big!
Total respect for posting a video like this because I'm thinking there are days where you strap on your camera go out to these garage sales and end up getting nothing so it's great to see one where you got nothing, hope the next outings are more successful.

Love this video. Shows that all of us that go out and have these same types of day are not alone.

😂
Beat me to it.

Greeting from Iran, interesting story.
This is really wise. Patience is golden.

This is true, but every time I'll think this time I will find something good😂

Clickbait thumbnails are normal. This channel does the same lmao.
No. I see your comments there too. You're telling lies.

This is a great point John! Appreciate you showing the true reality..

Thank you for posting this. First time I've seen this type of video posted by a "reseller". Big thumbs up from me!

Reality.
The best stuff at yard sales are stuff you can use FOR YOU or another additive for a collection/stuff like that!
that happens, I hit 6 on Saturday and I scored on the 7th so sometimes you have to put in the miles to get a good hit!
Appreciate it John. It's not all lined with candies and roses. Persistence and knowing what to buy is key. A good price doesn't always means a good resale. Can't wait for your next Whatnot.

I went to this same community sale in Springboro! I must have got there before you I noticed a few things gone that I snagged.
It still makes for a fun video.....seeing different folks and how they value their stuff. But my questuin of the day is:"What kind of contract will Elly de la Cruz get when he hits free agency!?"...🤩 Its not that far away

Thank you for posting this video - I appreciate your honesty!!!!
Thanks for watching Lori!
Thanks John for a realistic view regarding reselling and yard sales

I know how that can be. It’s tough sometimes

Great vid John! Yes, yard sales aren’t what they use to be! I remember making a video when I found nothing😂The reality of a pickers life, Lol!
The owners often aren't ready to part with their goods.
It's good to show the bad with the good. I think too many new resellers think they're going to be millionaires in 6 months.
I have had many days where I find nothing, zero, zilch. However the next day or week I would find so much I thought I should play the lottery. We like to hear lies haha. Love those type of folks, its fun!
Thanks John!

Great video, John. Right on point.
crazy ol' ladies, I am a crazy ol' lady myself. I wish I could join in their laughter. lol
Wasn't expecting that. Thanks for the reality though 😮
i saw another youtuber already hit these sales, he bought plenty. The early bird catches the worm
I have to inform you by the way!= THAT YOU ARE A ROOKIE & you have no idea what you are doing but you will still probably succeed.
Thanks Rookie 🤟
If you’re not finding anything go earlier. If it says srart at 8:00am go at 7:00. Early bird gets the worm!
Respect for the sometimes reality!
Seems like they were following a rule that before they said anything else they had to tell you about the other sales...
Pickin' aint easy
Truth..😢#Facts..🤔🙄🤗 Thanks for the reality video John..😍😮 Love it.. Take care..👍❤🔥🤙
I think I know the first sales you went to, they have them a few times a year and they have been added to my don't go back to list.
Same thing for estate sales, it's not all rose and treasures haha
Great video
0:37 trying to get those super low prices with comments like this.
Hi John, I was surprised you passed on the vintage golf club for $10. I'd think it would be worth a lot more than that?
It wasn’t anything special and it was pretty roughed up on the face
Thank you
You and pro picker were at the same sale with the Atari 😅
Do u ever say what areas of Cinti you pick in. I would be interested to know.
You almost scored by asking qs on the baseball gloves … are you doing a minimum on resell value such as 20 or 30 bucks on comps? I’m finding the smaller value items clog my storage and are not worth the time listing/packing etc… unless it’s a multi qty easy lister. ✌️☘️🍻
That Barney plate wasn’t worth anything !?
Don't know. You can't be the expert in everything. Have to stay in your lane for things you know.
Be honest… do you regret not getting that Barney cake pan brother
The ironic part is youtube resellers are the exact reason why you cant find anything at garage sales 😅
People have been asking ebay level prices for junk long before youtubers made channels dedicated to reselling.
Remember that the speed you go is the speed of your video YOU TURTLE!!
Yup!!
Books could have been good ... if they were old!
You've got to learn how to play BASEBALL Slugger!,,,,hee her!
thanks for posting this kind of video, theres alot of fake content out there that makes it look like they find home runs every day, this is really a good look at what it is really like

I know this is offensive but in all reality you're not selling full time and just glancing through. There were obviously items you didn't bother with.
