Fauziah Latif has so many popular songs in early 90s especially in genre ballad. She is Liza Hanim’s favourite singer. Fauziah is also a good dancer. That’s why dance element was included in this performance. One of the back up singers was actually the composer of that song - the late Datuk Adnan Abu Hassan who was the person that introduced Siti Nurhaliza, Liza Hanim, Misha Omar and Dayang Nurfaizah in Malaysia’s entertainment industry 😊

Fun Fact : Let me spill the tea yea? The song was the reflection of what she had going throughout her marriage life. Fauziah Latif at that time still in marriage to grandson Sultanate of the Selangor (one of the state in Malaysia near K.L). At that time her mother in law is the eldest sister of Sultan Selangor now.
Rumors said n i think it was true, that her husband the grandson of Sultan, wanted to marry other girl. I think if i am.not mistaken the girl working as a flight stewardess. As u know in muslim country a men can have maximum for 4 wive. In malaysia we call the term madu is reffering to the 2nd, 3rd n 4th wife. Fauziah Latiff doesn't want her husband to get marry another one. So.her husband (very cute guy).gave her.ultumatum. Accept that he.will.get. marry with other girl.or.divorce. she opted to get divorce.
The last lyrics is 'Biarlah aku oh begini teratai layu ditasik maduuuuuuu' basically meaning 'let me oh like this withered lotus in the lake of honey (another new wife to her husband.).So she divorced n walk out from.the palace. She really brokenhearted bcoz her parent aparently didnt want to gave a blessing to her marriage but reluctanly gave. Especially her father. she quite closed to her father. A few years after her marriage her father died.
And she married again in London to a very rich family who are conglomorate in Malaysia. Johan Endut. Her 2nd husband showering her with love n not too much to mention wealth. She went to hiatus for couple of years aftef having 2 sons. Then they get divorce becoz "irreconcilable differences". Not just hollywood has this term..Malaysia megastar also has u know. Hhahahhahaa.

"Teratai Layu di Tasik Madu" literally means "A wilting lotus in a lake of honey". The term madu (honey) in Malay refers to having to share your partner with a third person. So in the video, she rejects the guy for trying to cheat on her with another woman.

By the way, I think in early 90s, the vibes of Malaysia music still same as 80s. Stage performance seemed simple yet dramatic, focusing on nice to hear (or breezing) vocal, no sponsorship on clothes (some even sew it by themselves) and the genre were between ballad or rock.
After 95 or later 98, there's significant changes. More colours in the sound and clothes.
For this song, even in her smile and girly smooth voice, the story behind it was much darker. Having a sweet talker as your companion was not easy and she just wants to leave him rather being hurt.

The ending part was initially ( studio recording) a sustained belt on ' U ' vowel but then i guess she didnt dare to do it in original key during live and use headvoice most of the time, but the second video u watched wowww that live version of that belt is quite rare i would sayy

Teratai Layu di Tasik Madu literally means Lotus wilting in Honey lake?? hahahahh but it's a kind of poetry so it actually tells a story about a lotus ( a girl) and the lake (the man).. No matter how dry the lake, lotus will never grow out of the lake - no matter how much the man torture her/his love has changed, the girl will never change her feelings/love towards the husband.. You can call it toxic relationship if u want - it wasnt a thing back then i guess.. But then later in the chorus, the songs say the girl dont want to see the man anymore even in her dreams and will never get back to him, just let her be like a wilting lotus in a honey lake😂😂😂😂 hahahhahha.. im not really good at literature i dont really know whats happening but this is the literal translation basically, can someone gimme a hand😂😂😂😂

Lol. The song is about a guy who breaks her heart repeatedly and she has had enough of him and she doesn't even want to look at him anymore, I am quite sure the dance is part of the problem though. 🤣🤣🤣. Anyway, Fauziah strength is not neccesarily her belts. She can belt but not one of the best belter. Her strength is in her tone and also that lovely vibrato, her vibrato is quite insane. It is so quick. Anyway, can't wait for AJL 10. My favorite winner and one of my favorite singer ever.

Before there is dato siti nurhaliza, fauziah latiff was malaysia sweetheart. She dominated ajl, music award and chart and become everyone idol. She rarely involve in any scandal until she got married (broke every guy heart my bro is one of em) and her marriege story become hot topic. Just like siti she is well known as singer who did not wear revealing clothes, manner, gentle, kind with heaven voices.
