@@lexidarling Yes, he means the affirmative care model and gender ideology in the schools, which when combined create a very dangerous cocktail. First you create confusion in children about "gender," which is a nebulous and inchoate concept most adults -- most gender activists! -- can't even explain, and then when those confused children express "gender-nonconforming thoughts" you medicalize them and put them on a path towards full "gender confirming" surgeries. The growing number of detransitioners speak to how dangerous this ideology is. We can be accepting and tolerant of trans-identifying people, but we shouldn't be *pushing* children to identify as trans, nor should we be medicalizing children based on affirmative model that isn't allowed to stop and ask questions about comorbidities and underlying causes of distress. @@luciakaminski779 Would it change your perspective if I told you that 1 in 10 women at Benedictine College get a bachelor's in Early Childhood Development and Education specifically because they intend to homeschool their children? Here's the reality: Most of the women who go to Benedictine come from wealthy Catholic families who are sending them to college to find a good Catholic husband from a well-off family. Their families, being Catholic, are going to do whatever they can to help them live a traditional life. Very few of the women in that room have serious career intentions (some do, for sure, but they're a definite minority) and most of the men come from backgrounds where securing a six figure income will be relatively easy. Also, Catholics have been championing education as a good on its own for literally centuries. Back in the 16th century, when the idea of women with careers was totally alien and would have been seen as bizarre (even the idea of "a career" was novel back then), Catholic universities were giving women their first degrees -- but they had been *educating* women for centuries before that in convents, many of which funded their operations by educating the daughters of nobility.

Leviticus 20:18 If there is a man who lies with a menstruous woman and uncovers her nakedness, he has laid bare her flow, and she has exposed the flow of her blood; thus both of them shall be cut off from among their people. Leviticus 21:7 They shall not take a woman who is profaned by harlotry, nor shall they take a woman divorced from her husband; for he is holy to his God. Numbers 5:29 - 5:30 (Not meant to be a time stamp) ‘This is the law of jealousy: when a wife, being under the authority of her husband, goes astray and defiles herself, or when a spirit of jealousy comes over a man and he is jealous of his wife, he shall then make the woman stand before the Lord, and the priest shall apply all this law to her. Moreover, the man will be free from guilt, but that woman shall bear her guilt.’” And that's only a couple I found while watching this video.

My OPINION on this Harrison Butker "dust-up!" If you are deeply religious and you want to live a life where the wife is a "Homemaker" then feel free to. That being said, the relevant facts go as follows. Butker was giving a speech at a Commencement where more than likely many in the Graduating Class probably were going to be locked in to Student Debt AND Butker got a Scholarship too play football at Georgia Tech! So he can't relate to the imminent struggles of some of those same people he was sharing his opinions with. With the present economy where 52% of the country makes below $50,000 a year, Butker will receive his Contract Salary of $3.7 Million as well as collecting more money from his four off the field endorsements. So that means that every 3 months he will turn around close to a Million Dollars. With a dozen eggs being $4.50, the current price for gas around $3.75 a gallon and rent averaging almost $1,200 a month, maybe just maybe its not feasible for the average American to even think about leaving a parent at home? With the average median income being less than $43,000 a year, with the high cost of everything these days, it's just financially impossible for a typical family of four to keep one of the parents home. When you are getting almost $4 Million a year, your family can't be seen as a typical scenario and maybe Butker should have chosen his words better. His financial status makes it easier for his family to live by the designs he prescribed in his speech. Some people refer to this as "reading the room." Most people aren't as fortunate! ~The End~
"maybe Butker should have chosen his words better." Or maybe you should have read them more carefully, because Butker never said that the audience should not work or assumed they would not work. He said: "How many of you...are thinking about all the promotions and titles you are going to get in your career? Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but..." "Some people refer to this as "reading the room."" This is the most absurd talking point the left keeps repeating. The crowd interrupted the speech to deliver an 18 second standing ovation, which including the vast majority of the women. The media found two women from the audience willing to speak out against Butker's speech and they claim "10-15" women didn't stand and clap -- out of 250 women. That means at least 90% of the women in the room were standing and cheering. How is that not "reading the room." You people keep acting like *you're* the room, but there is zero chance any of you would pick Benedictine College if you actually knew anything about the school. It's one of the most conservative, traditional Catholic colleges in America. You literally have to sign a pledge agreeing to not use birth control in order to enroll.
Butker was rich. He went to an exclusive private high school, and then to his choice of football schools where he didn't have to work while there because, again, he was rich. He understands as much of what the average family is going through as a dog understands the day his pet parents have at work. He's an idiot. He neither knows nor cares that the poors need two incomes. Moreover, he does not know, nor care, that many women do not find childrearing or homemaking to be fulfilling, nor that they do find their careers fulfilling. He does not understand that not all women even can have children, or want to. He honestly thinks his wife ought to be merely his helpmeet and that women should take no leadership role in church, government, or family. So, it's pointless to point these things out to him. He. Doesn't. Care. He is arrogant in his ignorance and ignorant of how patronizing his arrogance is. Whether or not a women *needs* to work for their family finances or not, and many at that school are also from wealthy families, is beside the point. They are individual human beings. He has zero insight into their futures or their psyches, and he's to dumb to know how dumb he is.

He probably thinks all women should stay virginal and untouched until their wedding night, and before that they're too busy waiting for their wedding to be living

"You can be both Catholic & pro-choice" Yes, you can be religious & still side with people having rights like the autonomy over their own bodies. Just because your religion says something is not allowed for you doesn't mean it's not allowed for everyone else who doesn't practice your religion or follow the same religion but have different practices. For example, if a religion doesn't allow their follows to eat meat, that doesn't mean that everyone else can't eat meat. It just means that if people are invited over then they'll bring dishes that don't contain meat & if they're invited over to someone's house & can't eat meat then the host will just make a separate dish that they can eat. Yes, like you, they also misrepresented what he said. Then they removed the open letter from their website and locked their Facebook account because non-Catholics were using their mild criticism to bash the whole of Catholic teaching. My favorite response to this was a lady who accused Butker of saying women shouldn't be allowed to read the Bible because he said "It is not prudent as the laity for us to consume ourselves in becoming amateur theologians..." She thought "the laity" meant "the ladies." Hilarious. I've also really enjoyed all of the people arguing that a woman has wasted her entire education if she doesn't climb the corporate ladder, and revealed their own lack of appreciation for education in of itself, their inability to comprehend why a woman might want an education just to be educated, or that mothers and their children both benefit from her education.

Religion has done the most harm to women. Most chauvinism can be traced to it. Hell, a period is called "menstrual impurity" and it says while women are going through it that they are "unclean".
Leviticus 20:18
If there is a man who lies with a menstruous woman and uncovers her nakedness, he has laid bare her flow, and she has exposed the flow of her blood; thus both of them shall be cut off from among their people.
Leviticus 21:7
They shall not take a woman who is profaned by harlotry, nor shall they take a woman divorced from her husband; for he is holy to his God.
Numbers 5:29 - 5:30 (Not meant to be a time stamp)
‘This is the law of jealousy: when a wife, being under the authority of her husband, goes astray and defiles herself, or when a spirit of jealousy comes over a man and he is jealous of his wife, he shall then make the woman stand before the Lord, and the priest shall apply all this law to her. Moreover, the man will be free from guilt, but that woman shall bear her guilt.’”

Though I think it depends on the person. My fams church has changed a lot, and honestly are doing so well and good work now, and I love it. They even welcome non Christians to be in the community. (You don’t have to become a member to attend). So I def think it can be good, the mixed bag is just what scares me. And I like to do things on my own rather than for a deity I believe in. But hey, if it helps you do good, and you would try even if someone said your god told you to harm others, power to ya. If that’s what helps you try and spread kindness, awesome.

Blindly loving everyone is disgusting
~The End~
"maybe Butker should have chosen his words better."
Or maybe you should have read them more carefully, because Butker never said that the audience should not work or assumed they would not work. He said: "How many of you...are thinking about all the promotions and titles you are going to get in your career? Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but..."
"Some people refer to this as "reading the room.""
This is the most absurd talking point the left keeps repeating.
How is that not "reading the room."
You people keep acting like *you're* the room, but there is zero chance any of you would pick Benedictine College if you actually knew anything about the school.

He said women’s life don’t start until they’re married with kids, but he’s against abortion. That confuses me.
He probably thinks all women should stay virginal and untouched until their wedding night, and before that they're too busy waiting for their wedding to be living
Well, you see, all fetuses are male, and thus they have life before they have kids, or are even born. Once the kid is born it has a sex, and that determines whether they are still allive or not, until they get married and have kids. (IDK, seems to be the way the thinking goes.)
I’m sure he will have a show on Daily Wire soon enough
Since he considers himself an “amateur speaker,” I don’t doubt it. He’s looking to become a professional.
Harrison Butker is going down the Aaron Rogers' pipeline. He should ask him how that worked out lol. Call me traditional, but I don't understand what his personal political beliefs have to do with celebrating the degrees/accomplishments of all the graduates.
A- a- ron
They have nothing to do with the graduates. They have everything to do with his future political ambitions. He's palling around with Republican politicos.
It's because nobody ever listens to him so once he has an audience, he has to work as hard as possible to tell them all about his beliefs

Not him saying staying in your lane, when he should've stayed in his lane.
"You can be both Catholic & pro-choice"
Yes, you can be religious & still side with people having rights like the autonomy over their own bodies. It's not that hard to only apply your religious beliefs to your own life without feeling the need to shove them onto others
it's comical that you relating eating meat to accepting women to kill children

I am so confused...Why did he use this particular moment to talk about his political views?
Aren't speeches like that supposed to be uplifting, acknowledge the hard work put into achieving the point of Graduation and celebrate not only this milestone but also the future ahead?
At least that's what I'd expect.
If he wants to talk about his views on politics and religion, there's a time and place for that.
This speech is not only factually wrong and embarrassing, it is also absolutely inappropriate for this event! What was he thinking? 🤦🏾♀️
"Why did he use this particular moment to talk about his political views?"
He was talking about his religious views, which overlap with politics, but he's specifically speaking about being Catholic. He is speaking to a crowd of Catholics at one of the most conservative Catholic schools in America. From the perspective of a conservative Catholic, this speech was uplifting. He received loud applause from the crowd, and it was widely liked by Catholics (with some exception, mostly the very sort of Catholics he was calling out).
This is like someone walking into a random party and starts cussing at everyone just because
He really was like " since you got your degree and you know everything"
This was a Catholic college he was speaking to, so that focus makes some sense.
That said, my favorite response to his "women are happiest barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen" comment was from the nuns at the university. Needless to say they didn't agree.
Nope, education is just an expensive ticket to a corporate job.
