Love it for the fall/winter seasons here in NYC. I prefer colors that mirror the Spring/Summer season once it gets warmer. Navy blue all year round though.
Really could do with charcoal for my next suit, never really owned one & if I can get it in herringbone then I definitely will 😂 but won't get anything from s&m until I'm earning a bit more and gained weight so I'm happy waiting
A Charcoal suit is the 1 suit to have if you only need a suit a few times per yr. It's arguably more versatile than the other wheelhouse colors, ( med grey, light grey, navy, or cadet blue). The herringbone creates subtle pattern which adds visual interest. The tailoring and fit is on point! Would love to see a comparison / before and after tailoring OTR 46 and how it compares to this one. I agree that 11-11.7 is mid rise and a full 12-13 is going to rectify any dreaded shirt triangle situation that most affordable OTR suits / SC seem to have.
I just stumbled in your channel and it could not be the best men's dress advice I have ever found... Lots of gurus, not all know what they are talking about. Good stuff brother.
Beautiful suit may man. Charcoal Grey is fire! The formalify of the suit with the Nepolitian casual flair. And the small extra cost of the full canvas, totally worth it. Be blessed brother!
Everyone has to start somewhere. Look how much better your presentation is now! As for Charcoal, YES, and Herringbone too. I have a medium blue herringbone suit, I'll be getting charcoal or navy next.
Learned a lot from you when I wanted to buy suits here in Japan at this place called Big Vision. Just picked up three 3 piece suits mid gray Loro Piana Australis , navy Loro Piana Zelander, and charcoal gray Zegna Trofeo fabric. They have some insane deals on MTM suits here. 2 Piece Loro Piana and Zegna fabric was on sale for ¥59k + ¥10k for the vest + another ¥10k for lining, button and other customizations. This is a MTM customized 3P suit in designer S150s fabrics for less than $550 each. I also grabbed a Harris Tweed sport coat and Zegna Cashmere chesterfield overcoat in camel. All MTM…sport coat was less than $300 and coat was less than $750. Might pick up some Yearn shoes and grab an Intro tie if/when they come back in stock and if they ship to Japan. Come to Japan and get some suits!
Wow! You really made out! Loro Piana and Zehra make great quality fabrics. Japan has a really cool Menswear scene, it’s high up on my list of places to visit. The Intro tie is back in stock actually. And Aklasu does ship to Japan. I appreciate your support.
Life is a learning process. Your earlier video product was fine and your new videos are refined. My charcoal suit is the most formal suit I own with a full canvas and a California “winter “ material weight-less than comfortable in the summer.
Regardless of when your videos were created, your point and style methodology remains clear and very understandable. That is incredibly valuable to someone who is new to understanding the details of a timeless wardrobe. Thank you for sharing-
I thought I had missed this one, but the like button was active, sooo... Nice suit... Charcoal & herringbone is a killer combo. Spier & MacKay have a good program. I am impressed dog.
Welcome come back my HAITAIN Brother!. I have brought 4 of their suits. Because of your presentation!. Their website is cumbersome to navigate. But thank you!! On point!. As always!!.
I learned a lot from this video. Always do, but this video was really informative. At 46 I've never bought a suit besides off the rack. I wouldn't even know what to tell a tailor, because I don't know what to look for in a fit. Sad, but I'm super willing to learn. Keep up the great work brother!
What’s good, Roscoe? As long as you’re willing to learn, you’re more than half way there. A lot of guys waste their time and money by jumping into custom suits before understanding what their taste really is and how a suit should fit. Take your time and let me know if you have any questions.
I don't agree with everything, but I appreciate your knowledge and style. Lot of great info, enough to make me a subscriber. A pants with pleat and cuffs makes me feel like an old man.
I feel you, Garth! Cuffs and pleats are definitely not for everyone but for those of us that are really really into classic Menswear, it’s hard to imagine pants without them. It’s funny cause I never feel that I look like an old man, but if that’s the case, I’m cool with that.
I know I've said it before, but thank you for your channel. Just ordered my first custom suit ever. The way you walk through the process helped out a lot. I went with a grey charcoal neapolitan style. I'm so excited I almost fell out my computer chair hahahahha. Anyway thanks again. I really would love if you would do a video on classic men's wardrobe staple pieces, besides a suit, and sport coat I'm lost.
✌🏾Vladimir love the herringbone grey. I'm a classic suit color guy black, grey, blue and brown thats it. Appreciate the wisdom learning a lot to advance to that next level. Each one teach one keep up the good work fam.✌🏾
I love a good charcoal suit. I usually recommend them to clients when they want a suit they can wear to anything. I like Herringbone too, but it reminds me of fall style more, so I restrict them in my wardrobe a bit. Cheers!
Charcoal suits are great. More subtle than navy blue, and less stark than black, it is a very versatile colour, particularly if you need a multi-functional suit. I would start my wardrobe with a charcoal suit. I could not agree more, about the herringbone pattern. It adds subtle texture to the suit, which helps accentuate the quality of a fine fabric suit, as the light makes minute contrast in shading, creating an elegant aesthetic. That being said, the details are critical. Surgeon’s cuffs, and pick stitching are signatures of custom suit. That SPIER & MACKAY suit is sharp!
Also, I love pleated trousers and prefer them too, but there is nothing wrong with flat front trousers that have belt loops as long as the rise and leg are generous and proper!
Vladimir the charcoal herringbone suit you purchased looks great on you and the options chosen elevate it to another level. I thought that the fabric chosen could have come across quite shiney particularly being chosen off a computerised image {or did you order a sample) either way it does n't and comes across really well Keep them coming regards
Amazing suit , the color is very versatile!! Elegant & clean , i like the way of your explanation its very straight forward, hope one day i can know my size with S&M as they are not existing in Middle East , have a good day Vladimir
Spier and Mackay, great across the board. I really love their selections. Charcoal suits fit me very well and that style and pattern is fantastic. You can manipulate the tone and texture of the charcoal with the shirt, tie and shoes. I'll be shopping the flannels they have real soon
You're right man...charcoal grey is really underrated. And you know I'm loving the vibes with your outfit. That sports coat is fire...and you look like you lost some weight man! Looking extra crispy 🔥

My guy says he wouldnt be caught dead in flat front pants. Similar sentiments were shared for loafers and suits ;) I'll give you another year before you are ordering flat front pants from spier and mackay. The charcoal suit looks good. I purchased one of their off the rack charcoal suits. It's sharkskin and I got it at a decent price. It's my more formal suit...well mostly for funerals heh I also like the jacket you're wearing. The lapels are a dead spier and mackay give away. Spier and mackay is a treasure...i hope they stay in business for years....but not so much that I want everyone else wearing what I wear haha.
Oh hell no! You can’t compare those 2. Wearing loafers was just a matter of extending my sartorial palette, if you will. Flat front pants is something that I used to wear prior to discovering Classic Menswear and there’s no turning back for me. That’s like wearing cuffless trousers and skinny lapels and belts instead of suspenders. Those things will NEVER happen again.

That jacket your wearing is dope , I need that. I’ve been wanting to get myself an exceptional suit something better than the off the rack stuff I have now. This video makes me much more comfortable buying from Spier and Mackay online versus looking for a custom option. Thank you.
Fun fact regarding slimmer leg openings for the MTO trousers prior to update. You could've picked a size down, then added back the inches in the waist, hip, thigh and length afterwards.
Welcome back Vlad. We missed you . It’s a really really lovely suit. Charcoal’s versatility is so underrated . I have not had SPier and McKay suit yet but I would correct that soon.
Classic as usual my guy! Charcoal is so versatile - you really can't go wrong. And that sportcoat is absolute 🔥 bro! I'm starting a TH-cam channel very soon and I draw lots of inspiration from you my brother. Thanks for staying true to our BX roots! 💪🏾🔥
Excellent video Vlad. I'm definitely a Herring Bone guy. Unfortunately, I don't have any items (other than socks) in the wardrobe that are Herring Bone. I had a Chocolate and Gray Chesterfield coat when I was a youngin'. I am seriously considering having another one made......In that very same color.
Charcoal is a GREAT color, extremely versatile. I'm trying to decide if I should buy a charcoal suit with a plaid pattern that (I hope) can only be seen up close because I'm thinking it can possibly work as a funeral suit (I think black should only be for black tie). LOVE your channel!
I don't have to wear suits for my work. It's a hobby so I can wear what I want. I like to wear my charcoal suit for more formal events. During the day I wear my dark blue suit more often. Only two items in herringbone in my wardrobe: a blue shirt and an orange tie.
Man I started the video and I was like damn that sport coat looking amazing. Although, that EThomas Navy Hopsack also looks great. Already spent too much this year have to hold back, I'm sure you know what I mean lmao
@@v_r_ Something to think about post corona times! And I'm sure Savile Row tailors like Cad and The Dandy or Steed and surrounding places will offer plenty content wise.
What's up Vlad ! Beautiful suit , I prefer a charcoal suit because it's elegant yet understated. It allows more tie , shoe and pocket square selections ! 💯✌❤
What’s up, John? Last I checked that fabric is not available but they’ll be bringing it back. There’s a different charcoal herringbone on there but it’s different from the one I have.
The sports coat looks amazing. You have a seriously good eye for fabric and colour both what you’re wearing in the videos and what you’re presenting. So far I wear tailored shirts and good leather shoes but I’m buying myself my first suit soon and it’s going to be a herringbone fabric. I don’t want something too corporate looking and it’s a fabulous pattern for something different without being loud. I’m just still trying to decide between dark blue or brown. Hopefully my tailor won’t get fed up with my visits before I decide.
Vladimir! Just found you about a month ago. Bravo sir! Love your aesthetic, eye and style! I too am a HUGE Spier & Mackay fan. Discovered them over a year ago. I have several suits, sportcoats and other garments from their collections. However, here's a really wierd and annoyting thing I discovered with their tailored jackets and wondering if you have experienced this as well. Their manufacturer marks the sleeve botton locations with some kind of ink. So when you have the sleeves tailored (which of course is mandatory) you'll see these ink marks which require professional spot cleaning or cleaning the whole jacket. Now I've not seen this on every jacket I've bought from them but it's been the case for several. It's been a real pain. Spier & Mackay has taken care of the cleaning costs plus store credit for the trouble each time this has happened. They've always had awesome customer service and sales advice. They have told me that they've takked to manufacturing and this should not be an issue moving forward. However, I just bought one of their cotton khaki sportcoats and saw the same thing. I have an email out to them about this as we speak. We'll see what they say this time. So Vladimir, have you seen this with your Spier & Mackay jackets? Since you're a very high profile Spier & Mackay fan, do you think you can make some progress with the owner about this issue? That's all that good man. Be well! Happy to discuss more, could send you pics, etc. Dr. Ralph - Columbus, Ohio
What’s up, Dr. Ralph? I appreciate your kind words, thank you! What you mentioned is so odd because I’ve never experienced in none of my jackets so far, but that sounds extremely annoying. I’m glad that S&M is aware of it and is looking to rectify it but I will also bring it up to Rick’s attention to see what he says. I’ll keep you posted.
@@v_r_ Right on Vladimir! Regarding my recent issue with the washed cotton, unstructured khaki sportcoat, cleaners was successful in removing the marks to basically not visible. And S&M compensated me, the most yet, for this issue. They're investigating again. Odd that it is only seen from time to time. Many thanks for you binging this issue up to Rick. Please feel free to mention "Dr. Ralph from Columbus Ohio" to tie in specific examples. He should be able to put two and two together. Will be curous to see what they tell you. And they're supposed to circle back with me too. Best to all! Watching another one of your videos as we speak! Dr. Ralph
I have a charcoal suit by bonobos that I kind of hate lol The lapels are too skinny for my frame, and makes my shoulders look like a tank. At 40r I need at least 2.5” for the lapel, that’s why I buy from spier and mackay.
Great suit and video Vlad🔥 Would like to know where you get your suspenders from and/or if you could actually do an episode on braces. Keep up the good word👌🏽
What’s up, bro? I get them from a couple different places but the ones I’m wearing in that video is from Chipp Neckwear. I haven’t but will make a video on braces.
Vlad, I'm a recent subscriber but I really enjoy your channel. I'm glad you commented on the suspender buttons because I noticed on the S&M website that they weren't an option. The other option that appears to be missing is for a three piece suit. Am I missing that? I live in a cold weather climate and was hoping to get a flannel three piece for the winter. Let me know if you know anything about that option. I love your suit. I think a charcoal suit should be either the first or second suit every man buys along with navy.
What’s up, Brent? Thanks for your kind words. You’re right about the vest not being an option. I’ll reach to Rick to see what he says and will get back to you.
@@v_r_ Vlad, I looked at the website again and it looks to me like you can create a custom waistcoat in a separate area of the site. It looks like I can get my three piece. It seems like you know Rick - you might want to tell him that the process isn't very intuitive on his webpage. I suppose some people buy only a custom waistcoat, but I bet the vast majority of waistcoats are bought as part of a three piece. Thanks for the great work.
Vlad. This brings to mind a couple of questions that I/we amateurs have irt fabric weights/seasonal weights. This one is 13 oz., and you said it's an all year round use. What are the standard fabric weights per season? Obviously lighter weights for summer/heavier for winter, but what ranges of weights are appropriate seasonally? Inquiring minds...?
That’s a clean suit. Charcoal is definitely my next suit. Either a herringbone like you or a sharkskin or maybe even Birdseye.... something subtle. When it comes to Spier and McKay’s custom program, how’d you know how much to alter your measurements in each area? What’s the best way to go about getting your exact measurements
How do you feel about charcoal suits? What about herringbone pattern? Sound off!
Love it for the fall/winter seasons here in NYC. I prefer colors that mirror the Spring/Summer season once it gets warmer. Navy blue all year round though.

Just curious, where do I shop for nice dress socks with patterns?
One of the best vids youve done. Love the step by step option breakdown. Ive been wanting a MTM blazer from SM.
Classic as usual my guy! Charcoal is so versatile - you really can't go wrong. And that sportcoat is absolute 🔥 bro! I'm starting a TH-cam channel very soon and I draw lots of inspiration from you my brother. Thanks for staying true to our BX roots! 💪🏾🔥
I have charcoal, versatile. The braces on the trousers are sharp AF. Goals.
I like charcoal suits my first time seeing your video, great information
Thanks, Rashad! Glad you’ve found me.
Vladimir Riché I like monk strap shoes with my suits, is that acceptable by your standards

Great outfit. Love that charcoal look with the dark purple tie. Are those navy suspenders?
Thank you! And yes, the suspenders are navy.
Paired with burgundy shoes? Nice shoes bro!
Appreciate it, fam! 🙏🏾
I need more herringbone in my wardrobe as well. I think I have a shirt, my Rust polo coat and this suit.
@@v_r_ I meant to say a Chocolate and Gray 'Herring Bone' Chesterfield coat.
I have a blue herringbone shirt as well. It’s a nice subtle pattern.
Man I started the video and I was like damn that sport coat looking amazing. Although, that EThomas Navy Hopsack also looks great. Already spent too much this year have to hold back, I'm sure you know what I mean lmao
I know all too well, Logan 🤦🏾♂️
Had to like cause I ain’t no hater!!!
Thanks, bro LOL
Great fit my man. No doubt about it. If you ever come to the UK you should do a meet up of some sort!
That’s a great idea. There are a few dudes on that side I’d love to meet up with.
Yes sir, that's very true!
Your presentation style has certainly progressed since then but honestly that was not too bad. There’s a lot worse still out there. You can be proud.
Thanks, Michael! It’s just really funny to me when I watch it. But I’ve seen worse, no doubt.
Vladimir, you are the man! I think I’m going to order the same suit. Love S&M.
Thanks for your kind words, Michael. I’d say dark blue is more versatile as a first suit option if it were up to me.
Dr. Ralph
I would have chosen all the same options except for pleats, I can't...flat front for me, for now. Enjoy your suit!
No doubt, bro! Pleats aren’t for everybody. But if you want to give them a try, I would recommend the single reverse variety. It’s kinda low key.
@@v_r_ noted, perhaps when I'm passed my 30s I can reconsider...soon
Haha...you have plenty of time, young man
Tie knots been on point since day 1 tho my guyyy 💯
Thanks, fam!
Good choice for a wedding.
Love charcoal suits dope vid Sir
Thanks, fam!
Great video, as usual. I love my charcoal gray suit.
Gotta love charcoal!
The Yorkshire mill that made HUDDERSFIELD is now Chinese , they were bought by textile firm Shandong Ruyi back in 2008
Great video. Please what colours of pants would match nicely with the blazer you have on? :)
Thank you, Olu! I’ve worn it with cream and light grey trousers.
I have a charcoal suit by bonobos that I kind of hate lol The lapels are too skinny for my frame, and makes my shoulders look like a tank. At 40r I need at least 2.5” for the lapel, that’s why I buy from spier and mackay.
Love that linen jacket!
Great vid as usual!!!! Keep ‘em coming Bro ✊🏽
Vladimir Riché Your feedback is much appreciated brother🙏🏽
The suit is very nice, I have a charcoal pinstripe suit.
You’re one cool dude! Love your channel
You’re the man, Dusty. Thank you!
Yea. 1st TH-cam videos were wild, happy you change that format ,lol.
Hey,vald if you dont mind. What Taylor do you use. I am from NJ not far from NY.
Looks great man. Thinking about having them make a pretty similar one for myself.
Humble beginnings.
🙏🏾
I love your style, You rock!
Thanks, Rob!
