- You may or may not know this about me, but I love board games! Although Coup isn't a new release or anything, it is new to me and I am in love. I can't even wait to play this with my friends over and over. It isn't uncommon for us to play this for 4+ hours straight.
This video will contain a full review, how to play instructions and some gameplay variants which I believe make this game better.

Wow, thanks for suggesting those rule variants. I will be sure to try them out! It looks a lot more balanced by targeting a Coup instead of mindlessly say "I coup you". That two players one looks very fun as well, as it has a better "mental duel".

I just looked at the rules. If you take the assassination action. You need to pay the assassins' fee, no matter what. You don't get that back.
You do not pay the money until after the assassination has been accepted. So if someone calls your claim for having an assassin, and you don't have it. There is no assassination and no payment.
I guess in essence you never get anything BACK because you never paid anything in the first place.
In the 'call the coup' variant, can't a player with an Ambassador/Inquisitor get away lying about not having the card? They can exchange the target card and never be caught. I read your blogpost and it's still not clear to me how this rule automatically eliminates any potential cheating.
Well... If you think one of the players is cheating, I suggest you remove them from your group ASAP. But you are right, a person can certainly cheat. (As they can in a game like Love Letter).
