Yes, it's Little River Band, but with their original singer Glenn Shorrock. IMO, this track, written by Graeham Goble, is a masterpiece 🙌🙌 If you want a live version, try the band's appearance on the Aussie TV music show GTK from 1975. The camera work is awful, but the performance is absolutely incredible ☺️
Glen Shorrock has a great voice he sang at a corp gig post leaving LRB & blew us away! So many sensational unsung Aussie artist heroes… love that they are being recognised now by Nick and the world! John Farnham is a sensation in his own right… any band, any time, any song!
Little River Band fans correct me if I'm wrong but the lead singer in this was Glenn Shorrock Written by Graeham Goble in 1972, the song was inspired by his regular trips from Melbourne to visit his family in Adelaide. The song was initially performed by Goble's earlier band Mississippi, which included three subsequent members of Little River band: Goble, Beeb Birtles and Derek Pellicci. Ric Formosa played lead guitar, Glenn Shorrock sang lead vocals, with Goble and Birtles providing harmonies.

This is a great soft rock band from Australia. They had a lot of great hits especially in the 70's-80's such as "Cool Change", "Help Is On Its Way", "Happy Anniversary", "Reminiscing", "Lady", "Lonesome Loser", "Take It Easy On Me" etc.
Little River Band LRB formed in 1975 this song is LRB’s debut single . LRB formed out of members from other Australian bands so they are regarded as Australian supergroup . They was also managed by Glenn Wheatley who was John Farnham’s longtime manager from 1980 until Glenn Wheatley passing last year . LRB had many members coming and going 38 members in total . The classic line up only lasted 3 of their albums from 1977 to 1979 . John Farnham was lead singer from 1982 until 1986 Original singer Glenn Shorrock 1975 to 1982 then again 1988 to 1995 Glenn Shorrock recorded 8 albums with LRB When John Farnham recorded 3 . LRB has sold over 25 million records worldwide. LRB biggest hits in USA Reminiscing 1978 Lady 1978 Cool Change 1979 Lonesome Loser 1979 The Night Owls 1981 The Other Guy John Farnham vocals 1983 * In Australia biggest hits Curiosity Killed The Cat 1976 Help Is On Its Way 1977 Down On The Border - John Farnham vocals 1982 Love Is A Bridge 1988 . John Farnham’s signature LRB song Playing To Win unfortunately wasn’t a hit at the time of release in 1984 but has gained popularity as a sporting anthem over the decades , it’s also the only LRB song John Farnham continue to sing in his successful solo career after he left LRB . The current lineup is American based and no original members and no Australians within the band . Original members can’t reform as The Little River Band or even LRB under legal circumstances the last member left holds the naming rights .
@@petergalea6032 hey, you both might be right depending on where you are. Don't forget music companies release different songs in different order around the world.
Yeah nah, this was pre JF. We often talk about sibling/family bands harmonising perfectly, but LRB were superb with harmonising and not being siblings, just so beautiful ❤️.
Forgot how good Little River Band are. We were spoiled beyond our understanding in Australia in the 70’s and 80’s with music the rest of the world are just catching up with since TH-cam . Glen Shorrock was fantastic, John Farnham had similarities was great as an individual performer, but I preferred Glen in the group. Farnham did a great job standing in for a couple years, probably the only one on scene at the time that could have! There are none today🤐
Yeah, seriously if I were to choose a 'first listen' to LRB (with Glenn Shorrock as lead), this is the one. I remember a YT post from a US truck driver who stated that he was listening to a radio station while night driving on a long haul. The radio presenter was introducing an album from a new band called Little River Band and the radio station was doing a promotion (giving away a few albums). After listening to 'It's a Long Way There', the Truck Driver took a detour and drove over 200 miles (to that radio station), to pick up one of the free albums. He loved to song and the album. A perfect Drivers song!
John Farnham was only really a fill in. Glen Shorrock was their main singer. And you've got Beeb Birtles and Graham Gobles in the background hitting those high notes.
Loved watching your reaction on this classic Little River Band number! Sorry I didn’t see this sooner. If you liked doing this try covering “Light of Day” from the Sleeper Catcher album. It’s an 8 minute gem that I believe you will enjoy. So much going on with that smooth classic LRB song from vocal harmonies, instrumental licks goin on from instrument to instrument and percussion everywhere. Probably my favorite song of all times! So if you haven’t already covered it I would totally recommend you do so! Thanks for sharing great music!
LRB, so good and tasteful especially in the beginnings with Glenn Shorrock as frontman, great singer he is. My favorite track is 'Home on a Monday', very nostalgic. Very fine reaction. That is what music can do. Take care.
LRB was a great band, harmonies up in the Bee Gees category. Loved this song since it first came out, way back when I was in high school (way before John Farnham joined replacing the original singer Glenn Shorrock ( this is Glenn).
I get like that when I think of my wonderful Dad also. I can feel your pain just below the surface so with you there! The track was one of my all-time favourites as a young adult and, musically, it truly has it all.
It's funk, it's gospel, it's a rambling jam, it's carefully crafted studio work with strings and a fine guitar solo. Everything that LRB was is in this one masterpiece track. Still my favourite of theirs. It takes me to a place, just like it took you. One love.
Great reaction as always!!! So glad you noticed the rythym guitarist. I'll have to say it's some of the most beautiful phrasing I've heard in a song. Thanks again for the reaction
