Glen Frey of the Eagles said The Little River Band was "the best singing band in the world" and I am an Aussie and I cant argue with that ...
As for my musical palate, the lead guitarist on this song is as good as they come. Overall, perhaps the LRB wasn't properly promoted otherwise they would have stayed at the top of the charts due to their amazing talents.
@@panamacitybeachbum They were the MOST internationally awarded OZ band far more than the likes of Midnight Oil or that overrated band INXS. What boggles the mind is they are RARELY ever played on OZ radio stations but the other 2 I mentioned often are. The same with ACDC also rarely played.
@@panamacitybeachbum Rick Formosa
14 in 70s when song came out. glen shorrock lead vocals & beet bertles playing guitar
For me, it was the best song of the Little River Band ever.
The whole of the alum "Diamantina" is a classic; great music all the way through. Very talented band by the Radio stations in USA would not give them the air time they deserved.
Yep, an absolute masterpiece along with Light of Day. Ric Formosa on lead guitar was simply incredible. What a legend he is.
Thank you so much Harri for your heart felt reaction. I’m amazed that these songs we recorded in 70’s still bring joy to so many people all over the world.
I remember these songs came out when I was a kid I have always loved these guys. So romantic and beautiful. The harmonies are fantastic!
So cool that the bass player on the record coments here. Love Little River Band😊
Thank you for amazing music Roger. Peace my friend.
I love Little River Band!❤❤❤❤
@@joethabroyles1211 they are awesome 😎
I am 60 years old. I had never heard this song. Thank you for going "OffRoad" It is was great! Peace...
That song deserves a STANDING ovation
This song is one of the greatest songs ever. Up at the top of the list
Brilliant, sincere reaction to LRB. As an Aussie boomer we were blessed with some of the best music the majority of the world never heard... thank you Harri, you are appreciated for bringing this one to light. And yep, I thank the Patreon who requested it. Cheers from Sydney AU.
Hm... not quite, the Little River Band was big here in Europe, I can tell you, at least when I was young, we all loved them and still do.
LRB were big in the USA as well.
Chuck in NC, I certainly heard of much of this music and the harmonies of LRB bring such joy to my soul. But then, so does the music of Helen Reddy, ONJ, Midnight Oil, Air Supply and others that were part of the Aussie invasion in the 70s and early 80s. Lonesome Loser and Cool Change are 2 of my favorite LRB songs
Greatest "easy listening" or "soft rock" group of the 70's ever! Love, love, love LRB! 🥰
Thanks for reacting to one of the best song ever written and performed! Love The Little River Band❤
This is one of my very most favorite songs of all time. This band’s harmonization is superb❤❤
LRB were THE BEST BAND TO EVER come out of AUSTRALIA and THEY WERE VERY SUCCESSFUL in AMERICA
The guitar work on this… Stunning…
It's about time someone reacts to this song! This is off one of my all time favorite albums. Every song on this album is excellent! Keep up the great reactions.
Thank you
@@HarriBestReactions You are reacting to the music I listened to from my early teens, I love seeing your reactions as you discover the pure joy these songs have given me my whole life.
I couldn’t believe it when I saw someone reacting to this fabulous song. It’s such an underrated masterpiece. I fricking love this song. The full version, not the shortened version.
Bout damn time!!!
Man, Kevin… I am right there with you about LRB.
Loved in college - got to see them live back in 1979, I believe.
They were really great!
Their vocals live were impeccable… they all sang… and just great musicians.
Loved this band, which I thought sounded a bit more the the Doobies early days - like The Captain & Me album - than the Eagles.
Glenn Shorrock is one of the underappreciated lead singers of the 70s.
Very Best Harmonizing Band with pure raw talent....
I can't believe this is the first time I've heard the original track and I've only heard the radio edit of this song for 40+ years. This was amazing!!!
This is a great soft rock band from Australia. They had a lot of great hits especially in the 70's-80's such as "Help Is On Its Way", "Happy Anniversary", "Reminiscing", "Lady", "Lonesome Loser", "Cool Change", "It's A Long Way There", "Take It Easy On Me", "It's A Long Way There" etc.
He reacts to It's A Long Way There so you list it twice... I'm guessing it was on your mind? In my opinion the other five songs you mention are all much better samples of this bands talent.
Reminiscing is my favorite by this band. They are really excellent.
That's Cool- that you appreciated it so much, you have great taste☺ I grew up listening to them! They have a lot of hits, as your listeners have said!
@@chetstevens4583 we all know what they say about opinions..sorry chap if it wasn't your cup of tea
Glad you finally got down under again. This band had a lot of success, and reminiscing was liked by John Lennon, and know it's not just a rumor. Maybe we'll see icehouse, INXS, crowded house and the Easybeats?
I smiled all the way through this, knowing how mind blowing this great song is, waiting for you to discover the magic. One of my all time favorite songs, great concert in the late 70s. Incredible discipline for those young men back then.
One of the greatest works of musical art of the 20th century! An indisputable epic masterpiece! Standing 👏 over here as well my friend…Thank you for the reaction👊😎🙏
The bass player's wife sent this to me in Messenger right after it hit your Channel. What a privilege and a joy to actually know Beeb! I went to school with his wife in Central Missouri and the story is what Beeb and Donna's daughters describe as a rock and roll fairy tale. I would have to agree. I was listening to them long before the two of them met and the story of the beginning of their romance was told to me by Beeb at one of our high school class reunions in Jefferson City Missouri. Priceless. He is the genuine article! A kind warm and deliciously loving person who's still in love with music and his wife Donna! They recently received another award from an Australian music Society. Can't remember now but these native Sons will never be forgotten❤
I never knew Little River Band was Australian! I thought they were American. So happy to expand my musical education 🌺✌️
Their is an American LRB that took the name of the original founders Shorrock,Birtles and Goble from Australia. They also tour back in their own country singing all the LRB hits.. just look them up. As for the American LRB also has members but the vocalist is from USA that joined them later in early 80’s
@@arnoesco4889 Actually American bass player Wayne Nelson who is in the current LRB joined in 1980.
In 2013 my wife and I were driving the back roads of Arizona and pulled into a servo on an Indian Reservation. As I was filling the car I noticed a banner flapping in the breeze on a paddock fence across the dusty road. It was announcing that the Little River Band will be playing there next week! I couldn't believe it, so I took a photo.
I always wondered what Glenn Shorrock, Graeme Goble, Beeb Birtles and co. would have thought of LRB's name being used like that.
Saw them quite a few times before and after they became famous. Shorrock was in the 60s band The Twilights and later Axiom. Birtles was in Zoot alongside later US heart throb Rick Springfield. Goble was in Mississippi they had a hit with Kings Of The World.
This is the one Harry, the studio version, great guitar licks and soloing, fantastic harmonies and vocals, a really tight quality band with great song-writing skills who did Oz proud.
Their harmonies are fabulous 😍 my fave is night owl👍
Yes - couldn't have put it better - the 1975 stuff is edgier too , I like it.
I did the sound for them at the basement, and got a tape from the desk. I think they were better live.
This is the best music, but also meaningful lyrics. Only someone who has lived and walked alone for a very long time can know what this really means: “seems like I’ll never know the feeling of being together when I go”
This band never disappoints. Love all their songs
Love your reaction. Heartfelt and truthful. One of the best bands in history.
Little River Band one of the great bands of the 70’s Very underrated and they flew a bit under the radar I think because of the tremendous depth of groups in this era. They can hold a candle to any of these groups. Please dive in to their playlist…….you’ll find a lot of super gems! Thanks Harri!
Great Point!
Great reaction Harri. My favorite by them. I was listening to this when I was 19. I'm 64 now. Thank you very much for this sir.
Aussie musician's are sometime so unrecognised for their brilliance !
One of those mind-blowing songs. I bought the album upon initial release, not knowing this amazing song was on it. As soon as I heard it, I left my room, telling my siblings about it. They didn't play it much on the radio, and when they did, it was an edited version, leaving out the long guitar solo. I felt like I came across a lost treasure when I first heard this. Like I ripped off the record label by paying only $6 for the album. It was worth much more than that to me. And listening to it on Bose headphones ... melody heaven, my brother. Little River Band has a treasure trove of good songs. Enjoying your channel. Keep up the good work.
SAME
Why the heck this song not reviewed elsewhere is beyond me..!... Eagles...?...LRB leave them in their wake...
yes, I loved this song from first hearing yet was for a while unaware it had been edited down for radio lay - and when I heard the full version I was blown away
This band was unique. Thank you Australia!
Have a lot of Little River Band favorites, but THIS is absolutely the best~ Thanks GMM and Harri (who loved it) 🎵🎸🎶🎧
This is one of my favorite songs by The Little River Band, it's reminds me of my teenage years and hearing this song for the first time on
the radio in 1975 [I was 13 years old] and remembering how much I loved it.
Since I first heard this track in 1977 or was it 76 it’s been one of my favourites. LRB are one of the most underrated bands ever!
Harri my dear friend you just been harmonized! I discovered these beautiful Aussies back in 1976 for the first time, and my reaction was the same as yours. I can always play this track, and come out the other side a happy Greybeard! I love this one, and it's very dear to me. I was going to hold on to this one a bit, but thank the music gods your channel is getting more subs and patrons, so I requested it for us all! Stay frosty my good man!
Songs like this speak happiness, for all of us have made it to the other side of sadness, thx dude!
Great selection Greybeard.. One of my favorite songs by one of the fantastic LRB. 👍💟🙃
Same here, Greybeard. One of the greatest tracks ever recorded. Everything was top notch, everything. Stellar singing, lead guitar by Ric Formosa, production. Love jamming to it at home. All time classic.
My thanks to GMM for requesting this song which is one of my personal favorites. But, even more so, for Poco's "Crazy Eyes" - which I dearly love, but had somehow forgotten over the decades. It would have remained so except for the divine intervention of GMM and, of course, Harri. My fondest wishes to you both.
@@josephthomas3912 it certainly is my pleasure! Both tracks for mentioned have been favorites of mine for years. I'm pleased I could bring back fond memories for you. Thanks to you for the compliments!
Back in 1973 I saw Mississippi, which was the precursor band of Little River Band, at a small gig, in Geelong, Australia, They were a great band, but we had no idea what they would evolve into. All these years later it is wonderful to know how much they are appreciated by fans across the world.
Harri, I just want to say what a joy it is to see your reactions to music that you love. I am 70 years old and I still have visceral reactions like you to music that moves me. i have seen very few people who react in the same way, so it is wonderful to see you experience music in the same wy - joyful, deep, and emotional. I've discovered you just today and I have spent the day on your channel loving every second. Thank you for the wonderful offerings.
I wish I could like this more than once. I love LRB. They were my first ever concert in 1982.
I think this is the same reaction we all had when we first heard it in 1975! I was a senior in high school and everyone was playing anything from LRB. Still just as enjoyable today at the age of 66!!! Thanks for the trip down memory lane 💞
People forget LRB were selling out stadiums in the US back at their peak. They were one of the biggest selling bands in the world in the late 70’s. I guess because they had more of a pop reputation they don’t get spoken about with the classic rock bands of the same era. But their music holds up beautifully to this day with any of them. Great Aussie band, and one of my favs back in my teenage years.
Saw them live in Los Angeles. They played this song to perfection. LRB rocks!
Glad I'm first. I'm an Aussie and LRB were a group of musicians and singers who have a great catalogue of songs and had a few hits in the states but never got the recognition they deserved.
Nailed it wit harmonies!!..it's like Abba and the Eagles had a Baby !!😁🙄😁
You were correct in saying the band didn't get as many accolades as they should have, only because the competition with other exceptional bands of the 70s was so great. I'm so blessed that this was the one of the many groups that made the soundtrack of my college days. Please react to their song Reminiscing. It's a sweet nostalgic song about the music of their parents' generation.
Back when we loved having the lyrics printed on or in the album.
'been a fan of the original Little River Band since '76. The LRB brand name is now owned by an ex-member and a group of musicians tour under the name. It's important to know and realise that there's not an original band member in the current band that tours USA. Whilst they (the current line-up performing legally of course) as the little river band are musicians in their own right, anyone in the USA going to see them won't be hearing the same harmonies, nor hear any of the other original band members that are in this video.
One of the most underrated bands of all time such talent!
I had heard one song from them back in the early days of MTV. I bought their greatest hits cassette for $2.99. Best musical purchase of my life!!! Every song is awesome.
I saw them in Monroe, Louisiana years ago. Was a teenager in the seventies. Much great music back then.
LRB was quite popular in the US in the late 70s, two of my favourite songs are Reminiscing (apparently a favourite with John Lennon) and Cool Change, both with original lead singer Glenn Shorrock, who left the band in the early 80s and was replaced by John Farnham for a couple of years. My favourite from this period is Down On The Border.
Down on the Border is good but I like We Too and Sleepless Nights better.
@@brewswillis9783 We Two
Night owl was their best😁👍but love all their songs
"Reminiscing" is the most played Australian song ever in the USA. Nearly 6,000,000 times now and has been sung by many singers.
Standing O…😮…indeed! Thank you and LRB!!
This is my reaction everytime I hear this song! Thank you you so much for appreciating all the aspects of this song!
Diamonds in the ears...I like it. Most certainly joyful vibe to the heart and candy to the ears and brain.
Fantastic and amazing indeed! Great reaction ❤
12 yrs old in 1975, my mum had a mate at work whos man emptied juke boxes and we got a free bag of 45,s , this was the first record I played and the world stopped spinning for a minute , it changed my life forever , I've been a lead guitar player for 40 odd years because of this stunning record !! Summer sunshine when we were free as the birds !
I loved the term "Diamonds in your ears" !!!
That's perfect!
Thank you Harri for one of the best musical discoveries I've made! 💞
This is one of my favorite bands...period!!! Try listening to Lonesome Loser and Lady by this band. Oh and Reminiscing is another must listen.
They take us along on a musical journey. Brilliant.
They have several great hits...... ''Lady'' and ''Cool Change'' have always been two of my favorites but this has to be their best composition without a doubt! ''Not as good as they're supposed to be'' hits the nail on the head Harry! Great reaction! From Sophia,N.C. USA
I was a teenager in the 70s and LRB was one of my very favorite bands. Still are, in fact. Glad you appreciated the excellence of this song.
I have had people tell me I am crazy to say these guys are a great Southern rock band, just because they are from Australia. The whole continent is in the Southern Hemisphere. and THEY know what it feels like to be Southern rockers!
Yes we do and yes they sound like Southern Rock. I think their music was compared to the west coast sound
@@eviekelpie1 The late 70s and early 80s was a golden period in Australian rock music, but only those bands who fitted in with an overseas style made it overseas. In the soft rock genre (popular in the U.S.), LRB and Air Supply made it. In the hard rock genre, AC/DC made it. There were some others like INXS and Crowded House, but most Australian bands went undiscovered due to the difficulty in marketing from far away back then.
@@deantyler007 Yes totally agree. It's a shame do many of our great artists are unknown to many
@RK41Gator I saw a TH-cam documentary on LRB with Graham Goble recently (watched in 2024). He gave some credit to the Jacksonville FL FM radio station for It's A Long Way There breaking through in the USA. A series of videos and they also went into how LRB founders lost the rights to the name Little River Band (READ THE CONTRACT PEOPLE😢). I guess that is a little bit of a southern rock connection given the many southern rock groups coming from J'Ville.
LRB were awesome. Such great music. This is my fave LRB song. Just amazing 👍. Great reaction!!!
LRB a very successful band here in Australia and the US. Had many hits and albums. Unfortunately, they're no longer called LRB due to the fact the name wasn't protected legally and a US group took it. So when the 3 main members tour they go by their names, Shorrock, Birtles and Goble. All members were/are well established musicians by the time LRB formed. Huge in the 70s!!!
Actually thrilled lead guitarist owns the rights to the Little River Band.He lives in Irland and no longer performs with the band, although giving them, the American band permission to use the name.
I'm glad you got to hear the full studio version of this song!! The version they played on the radio back in the day was a lot shorter. It was only 3 or 4 mins. Which is a shame, because this is my favorite song by them!!
I saw LRB at the Festival Theatre in Adelaide Australia in the seventies. What a great show. One of the best bands in Australia. These songs never get old.
LRB kicks a$$ and takes names ❤️🔥🔥❤️🔥one of the most underrated bands of the 70s
The "greatest" of anything in usually subjective. For me, this song, this version is in my top five, all time. Phenomenal across the board. The talent within this band is so underrated.
A beautiful, Perfect song. I love it. 💕💕🎶🎶
Love love love it! Immaculate harmony, lyrics and production!
I think I suggested this song! I have always loved it and I’m so happy that you are reacting to it. ❤❤
Great harmonies and a brilliant arrangement. And yes "Diamonds in your ears". My favourite LRB song. Thank you for making my day.
Not doubt one of the greatest ever Soft Rock bands - America of course another favorite who you have reacted to. When you delve into Australian music of the late 70s 80s you are going to discover gold.
😎❤
One of my husband's favorites! He has been gone seventeen years so this gave me joy, joy to my heart too. Your reactions and voice also give me joy. Bless you.
Harri, being an Australian myself I can tell you that your reaction to this song was an absolute "Joy" to watch. Best reaction ever that I've seen for "Aussie Music" - You just made my year. TY🥰 Another song by The Little River Band I know you'd love to hear is "Curiosity Killed The Cat" - please do a review of this one too.💕
Agree, loved the standing ovation, I have both of those tracks on my watchlist. A league songs.
..."diamonds in the ears..." New sub!!!
One of my fav tracks. And bands. So much for you to hear of them. Enjoy. Hi from Australia.
I agree with the majority here, this band is so underrated and mostly unknown and I have loved LRB since the late 70s, harmonies, vocals very good musicians, there were alot in he 70s ad 80s.
Wouldn't say they are mostly unknown but that they have low name recognition. Some folks would still hear a song like, say, Cool Change and go, "Oh yeah, I love that one!"
I have come across your listens before and I am so glad you heard this one. Just a beautiful song and melody, with the band being astute enough to let Ric Formosa doodle on theme throughout. This is a masterpiece. I remember first hearing this in 1976 in the early morning. The station broadcasting would play lesser known music from around the world and this came on. From the very first moment I was enthralled. If these fellows had never done another thing, they placed themselves in musical eternity. This is what good music is. I hope your neighbors have come to enjoy it as much as you. Peace.
Absolutely epic song and a brilliant reaction 👏👏👏😃😃😃
Phenomenal guitarists n vocals 👍🤩👏👏👏👏
Love the Little River Band, a really great rabbit hole to explore.
It would be a travesty to never hear this song. Great reaction Harri!
This masterpiece was ahead of its time. It should have been re-released in 82 or so. It deserves exposure
A true masterpiece. Thank you Harry for discovering it..
Lovely Aussie folks, I grew up in the back woods of South Carolina, USA. This band was played all the time on our one rock radio station.
I haven't heard this in years! Thank you!
Glen Fry from the Eagles once said that the Little River Band were the best singing rock band. He actually sang with them at the world expo 1988 in Brisbane Australia. Have a listen to “Meanwhile” for a great up tempo number. You must be younger than you look if you have not heard of them. Cool Change and Reminiscing were world wide hits.
Brilliant musicians...every one of them. And so many more great tunes.
Glenn Shorrock lead singer great voice..Aussie Aussie Aussie...✌🇦🇺
oi oi oi
Aussie...Aussie...Aussie...Awesome, Awesome,Awesome!!! Love the LRB!!!
Thank you for this reaction, it pretty much sums up how all of us Little River Band fans feel about their songs! First time hearing the extended version of it too: wow.
So good to see you truly appreciate that stunning piece of music. That really stands up to the rigors of time!
Awesome song!!
Harri, when you said that you have a feeling that the Little River Band are nowhere near as big as they should be, I was thinking that we would all say exactly the same about you. You are deeply appreciated out here, brother.
It's October 22..Harri this is your best reaction video of all that I've seen..Why don't you introduce this to Tayveon..I can't even tell you how many times I've watched this..Love u Harri...u alright with me..
Talk about your underrated bands.....this group heads the list!
WOW ! ! ! I haven't heard this track in 40 years. Backstage PASS filled the canyons of Lake Powell in the summer of 80. the best ever. LRB has always been in my top 10 favorite list of all time. Thank you for sharing and I'm glad you like it too. its a timeless classic tune from such talented musicians.
Awesome band. Saw them play in 1978 at the absolute last outdoor venues music concert, at “Crater” field, baseball park, in southern Oregon! Just F-ing awesome!!!
Loved the show, so glad to have been able to see and hear them during their heyday!
But for the record, the guys who still play and sing, still sound G R E A T!!
One of my favorite songs ever, not least of which because it's not "played to death" on oldies/classic rock/Yacht Rock radio.
Another you might try is from their 1978 release -"Sleeper Catcher"- and the song is called "Light of Day".
Love that track!
I'm right there with you and I'm surprised at how few reactors do this song. It is an outstanding piece of music.
LIGHT OF DAY, QUITE POSSIBLY THE BEST SONG I HAVE EVER HEARD.
So glad you chose the extended version, much better than the single release track. Their live version of Days On The Road is kick ass as well. It begins with an awesome bass solo...hello!!
Thank you for your reaction to this wonderful song. The Little River Band put out some great hits and this particular song is one of my favorites.
Thanks for doing to full version it deserves the respect, They played support to the Eagles and were introduced by them as the best Vocal Harmony group in the world, throw us some more LRB and early Australian music like Brian Cadd "Ginger Man" Stevie Wright "Evie parts 1,2,&3 etc
Exceptional group and song!
Thank you Greybeard for this. One of my all time favorites.
