I've got one of these that I use with my tube cameras. They're nice and simple and reliable. It wasn't working when I got it but a belt and idler change and a clean and it's been fine. If you ever have to take the reel idler off be careful, there's a tiny ball bearing under it. Also if you take the cassette housing out you have to make sure the metal tab is on the correct side of the little puller from the eject button or you can't eject it.
I have the RCA branded version of this. Looks identical to this hitachi but is silver in color, and the carry handle is black with chrome ends. These were great cool machines. I think one or two companies made all the brands if these. They really all look alike.
Hi I have hitachi vt-8e vhs but I have a problem… Tuner works fine but when i try to power the vhs tuner just shuts off… Do you myb know how to fix that ?
Yes. It has a tuner unit that attaches, and allows you to hook it to your tv to wastch through your tv, but recordi g tv programs cant be done due to the change over to hi def tv. All these were analog tuners. Also you can just hook the play directly to your tv using the rf coaxal jack.

Very cool, I love these 80s vcrs also 5:16 pls try not to use rubber bands they will not last long and you will get a lot of wow and flutter
