Hitachi VT-8000e Video Recorder Resurrection

Today I try to ressurect a 1981 Hitachi VT-8000E VHS top loading video recorder.
This is a german market machine i picked up from a car boot sale for £10 about a year ago. Its been sitting in storage and nearly ended up as e-waste in the big video recorder recycle.
Today I try to get movment out of the mech and possibly a picture.

hello,
blurry black/white transition may also simply be because this machine is not "HQ" and didn't apply any post-treatement to increase edges sharpness.
vhs wasn't the best on that point with some transitions, that's why they improved playback with their "HQ" circuitry.
and hitachi back in this era also tend to preset picture sharpness a little bit soft, and it's not always adjustable by any variable resistor.
so for me, this one work as it should and proved to age pretty well :)

Great video. I'm currently just trying to resurrect one of these. You mentioned a double band underneath the cassette. But then didn't show them replaced on the video. Do you happen to have any photos of these please.
