    This is my 1st time seeing your video and it's what you said at the end. I have a tattoo on my forearm that says, Never stop trying to be a better person than you are today! Thought I would share that with you. I thought it was cool. I grew up doing martial arts and it was one of the best things ever helped me through stage 4 cancer so keep doing what you do brother

      Trust me if you want to learn how to use a katana/samurai sword there’s loads of ways but believe me if you swung your sword like this in front of a Japanese sensei they would not be happy… it’s not traditional, this guys basically playing with a sword. Best way to learn is by reading books

    I didn't know actually making the blade go underneath near your armpit was actually how you can get a cool spin out of it, I've been doing this part subconsciously, I've no formal training with a sword or of any kind, it just felt natural to do, and I've always personally had this nagging thought in my head of how stupid it is to let the sharp blade go under you at such speeds, but it's not suppose to be part of actual combat, but just showmanship more like.
    Now that you've also shown me you can do a full spin to, like "Add" power to the strike, it looks so much cooler than it did before, thanks so much, haha!

    Been wanting to learn how to use a sword as a much needed discipline in my life. How long does it take to get good with one though?

    • @SkillMastery
      @SkillMastery  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That's awesome! It takes discipline and consistency, but with proper training you could be proficient in a year and good in three years. Mastery is said to take 10,000 hours. It all depends on the goals you set, and what you define as "good."

    It’s hard to do with a Star Wars Black Series Lightsaber, the back roll is easy, the front is very difficult and I accidentally keep ending up having the light saber blade facing behind me instead of the roll start position

    • @SkillMastery

      Yes it can be tricky. Make sure you go palm up on the forward roll.

    How does a person using two Katanas stand? (foot position)
    My dominant hand is the right, which of my 2 swords should be in front and which should be in the back? (note: according to my foot? If my left foot is in front, should my left sword be in front?)

    • @SkillMastery
      @SkillMastery  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question! When double stick fighting, dominant hand and foot are back, weaker hand and foot are forward. So for you, the left would be in front and right in back.
