    My grandparents who live in Florida told me that they saw rhoeos in a field where they live they brought a few home planted them in their zone 9 garden and they have spread like mad, they actually pull some of them out because they just get weedy after some time where they live, and they sent me some about a year ago and they grow so well. Such nice plants, hard to kill I must say:) great video as always.

    Thanks for the video, I've been having problems for awhile with mine and clearly I've been over watering. In the beginning they were growing great with a daily mist, but I think they probably only need one watering a month in the winter and even 2 weeks apart in summer in my house.

    Hello, my plant is doing really well inside the house. I have mine in the indirect light and water mine through the bottom of the plant. It is thriving and growing like crazy. I also love the shine and it looks like it has glitter on mine. I also love the colors, it is like the color of your plant but mine is still in a 4 inch pot. I have to report mine soon. Thanks for the info and great video. 😁😀🤩🤗

      That's great! The weather here is just starting to become tolerable and the plants are going from scorched and dry to green and lush... which is weird because normally august is when the opposite happens. You have roses!? I miss my rose garden, just not enough sun for them anymore as the trees keep growing and shading everything.

    Just got my first one of these, I've always known them as Moses in the Cradle or Boat. But they've been on my wish list a long time & so excited I just ordered online & rec'd two 3inch plants that look very healthy. Will let them settle a few days in my home then replant. Sooo excited (and nervous!) to see these babies grow! Their beauty is stunning! Hope mine grow as well as yours! What do you suggest as far as lighting if they are indoors?? Thanks for info & great video! 🌱💚🌱

      They are easy plants to look after. I have mine indirect light, and water every 2 and half weeks. They are very colorful, I have them close to a window and they did not like it at all. I water mine through the bottom and let it sin in there for at least 30 to 45 minutes. And drain the excess water.

      Aww, thank you so much! I love your name! "artistwithapassion"... flows nicely! The oyster plants are very easy and forgiving plants as long as they aren't left to stay wet for a long time. Indoors they like bright and sunny locations. For best growth some warmth and humidity can be helpful, so if you have a bright well-lit bathroom, that may be a good location. :)

    I have one that I bought at Walmart and I stuck in in a large outdoor pit with some wandering Jew and purple sweet potato vines... it’s growing a lot and I want to break off some but I’m not sure exactly how to or if I would be disrupting the growth.

    • @TropicalPlantParty
      @TropicalPlantParty  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Derrick! They are pretty easy to dig out and root. Just use a sharp and clean knife and try to cut down in the soil around the ones you want to remove and gently lift the ones you cut around up and out of the soil. Then fill that hole back in with some fresh potting soil and transplant the ones you've removed into a pot with well drained potting soil and water them often enough so that the soil doesn't fully out dry out for more than a day or day to encourage new root growth. :)

      Sandra99, Mine was getting leggy and the colors were getting so pale. I was told that it wasn’t getting enough light. It was on my desk at work with just the overhead fluorescent lighting. Then I started using a grow light but it just wasn’t doing better. I don’t have a window at work so I brought it home. I live in a city with many three-flat apartment buildings. But the front most room of my place extends to create a nice sunroom. I’ve had this plant in the east-facing window for a couple months and although it took about three weeks to improve it’s much better now. Fuller with richer colors. Good luck!

    • @TropicalPlantParty
      @TropicalPlantParty  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I have been planning on doing a video when i repot it, but i cant find a light-weight pot i like for going in my house... all the ones im seeing that i like are way too small. When i find the pot though, i'll do a video for sure. Heavy with moisture inside of them? And I haven't over-watered it or anything, the soil is pretty dry. The leaves are just one by one going limp. What did I do wrong? All I did was transfer it from the store-bought pot to one I had at home, and watered it once because the soil was super dry. My thumbs are definitely not green, they are on the opposite side of the color spectrum, I have red thumbs.

      It sounds like you might need to water it a bit more. He says in the video that they are drought tolerant but I live in a dry climate and I have one as a houseplant that doesn't like the soil to get more than 50% dry before it wants more water. Something to watch out for.
