I love how Brent smith says something then explains it to us so well and how it relates to us. This song is kinda of a wake up call telling us to give back and love one another.
I went to alot of concerts growing up im fixing to turn 62 my daughter turned me on to Shinedown and I've been hooked since. Seen alot of good bands, Texas jam few times. Aerosmith Nazareth Rolling stones. zztop that is just getting started probably just you all but by far shinedown is at the top. I love y'alls music.

Yep, it is my theme song for my mother n law who passed away from lung cancer. It hit me hard and then this song landed in my lap playing it over and over while bawling.... it is a monument to life.

This I is my all time favorite song, you guys are my favorite band and diamond eyes was my number one, but when I heard this for the first time live at the cross insurance arena in 2015, I looked up the song I learned it word for word in less than a day

But when it comes down to the heat treat and quenching of Whats left over, the grinding and polishing and sharpening, before you're ready to "Cut the Cord" the question must be individually answered...How did YOU LOVE??

I hate when people say that metal is all screamo and makes no sense and all the fans of metal are emo, crackheads, or just insane, because metal-hard rock makers like shinedown make most of their songs dedicated to the celebration of love and life, and then the angry ones are so easy to relate to for some people. And I recently went to my first concert, and my mom went out for a cigarette and someone literally just walked up to her and said in such a friendly way: "Who are you excited to see?" and they talked and more people joined in and it was a nice, kind chat. Every metalhead is kindhearted and if anyone ever says otherwise it's because they listen to shit pop music with by the way is mostly about drugs, alcohol, girls/guys, sex, stripping, and other crap like that. There are metal songs even explaining how stupid this generation can be (Blow by Theory of a Deadman, Generation Idiot by Nonpoint, Mr. MTV by Nothing More)

Hey Shinedown, I know you guys probably won't respond, but I'm just really curious: in terms of worst to best, could you guys rate your albums? I personally LOVE all of them (except number cuatro).
But the truth is, death comes to us all, so why avoid learning from the pain and dealing with it? Since 2018, I have had seven surgeries, three being brain, and my love for Jesus has exponentially grown Psalm 23ing through each trial. 11/11, I found there are three more.
It’s the love we leave behind that truly matters, and besides saving, it’s what he came to teach us cause when this roller coaster ride is over---works without love, or Jesus is worthless.
Thank you for your sacrifice and for making a way to get us home.

I would personally be very interested in hearing a much more in-depth explanation of the song from Brent. There seems to be a strong undertone of 'religion and spirituality are evil' and I am very curious to know if that is directed at a specific religion or at all religions as a whole?
