    Being a retired master tech since 2003, it has been really refreshing of your knowledge of systems. I worked for toyota for almost 30 years. l was the guy to go to when cars were going tru lemon law .But your knowledge of the system and the use of tools is really extensive. Thanks for the refreshing curse

    I love the snappy format, bravo! Presumably you started thinking it would be a short, so chose vertical format. Then when it was longer than a minute, you decided to change course. I find it harder to pause and zoom in on circuit drawings with vertical format, so here's a vote to keep standard landscape format.

      This is a gm document and they have used it for a long time. I can't remember the document number but you should be able to search for it and also any module that needs programming if you go to it's removable and install procedure it will be linked there.

    That was definitely a great follow up for the last case study. Now showing the ohm meter along with the oscilloscope to track down the source of the problem. Did you have any certain order in tracking down the bad connector, or did you just procede to check the ones that where the easiest to get to first?
    Top notch diagnostic Jake! Thank you for all your videos!

    Great video and way of breaking down the system and troubleshooting. I always wonder how a terminal can be spread open. I have had that on my own systems and I have not been in there poking around. Can it be just from being plugged in a certain way and then fatigue caused by vibration?

    • @autodiagyt
      @autodiagyt  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Probably just poor metal not having adequate spring properties. Heat and vibration will fatigue them.

    Nice diagnosis. For some reason, testing to find out which direction to go to find out which terminating resister to go toward confuses me. So when you did the test at the EBCM and got 120 ohms and said that the reading was from the air bag module and that the problem was toward the EBCM, what would have been your reading at the EBCM if the problem was toward the air bag module? Thanks.

    Great video,
    This was very informative. I have an older tahoe that started to go into limp mode and would not start very often with the dash guages dropping out and other crazy things. I narrowed it down to the canbus voltage being way to high over 8 volts from can hi or lo to ground. I decided to start unplugging modules and the first one I unplugged was my abs which dropped the 120 oms to 60 but the can bus voltage went down to just over 2.5 on both hi and lo. So I'm like yes this is the issue. It was not. I replaced the abs module and the exact same issue returned when I plugged it in. The abs connector has no issues whatsoever. Unplug abs good and plugged in the vehicle won't start and guage needles won't move from zero.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    • @autodiagyt
      @autodiagyt  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's because the can bus is linked through modules. If you had a high voltage reading on the bus and unplugged the abs made it go away then you need to keep going down the line on that end of the network.

    • @kickford
      @kickford 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@autodiagyt I had the misconception that the canbus was simply paralleled to each module device and was shorted to some power within the abs itself affecting the network. Still learning how these work. But if it's a type of pass through network then this is making way more sense.

    • @autodiagyt
      @autodiagyt  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@kickford yes GM pass through each module so if a module is unplugged so is the rest of the network.
