I mean, let's remember this has no micro and that any attempt to micro the tanks would end up in negative micro.
Anyone with at least plat level micro should be able to take out those tanks with probably less than 200 marines with decent pre-splits and a bit of stutter-stepping. The cost would go way down.
@ar218 i agree except for the specific league, I have 100% seen even diamond players a-move into a tank line and then decide now is the perfect time to look at their base and build a few more buildings

You'd be surprised with proper splits and movement... I think it was Byun that I saw demolish an opposing pro terran with pure marines vs. tanks and a few other things.

if you want to beat 60 supply of siege tanks with a suicide assault of marines, you need 1000 supply of marines

I think it doesn't matter if the tanks won that or not. The cost and supply difference between the two is staggeringly wide that it shows how cost efficient tanks are against clumped up infantry.
Any player with half a brain would have stimmed and run up next to them. I doubt Red would have lost 200 in that scenario.

You can show the same story with fully upgraded hellbats against 0/0 zerglings.
Or 0/0/0 carriers against 3/3 thors.
Upgrades are highly impactful for low damage high attack rate units.
Killing more than 900 marines with 20 tanks is indeed a big win. Even if the tanks 'lost' this one.

The marine is such a microable unit though. I known it's not the point of these shorts but if the marines stimed at the first tank fire and didn't start attacking until they touched the tanks. Well the short would have been a hell of a lot shorter

All I've learned from this is to stim up ramps more voluminously
I think if the tanks weren't in line it would go better for them since the marines would spread less and there would be more splash damage
Or if the ai just made the tanks attack a row or two back into the crowd--- would have turned this around completely... But this way we get a longer confetti party...
@@ObsidianShade If tanks were more intelligent, their damage would be decreased to keep the balance, They have their current damage values to make their current targeting AI work.

Watching these videos has really made me realize how inefficient the siege tank AI is. The tanks always target the CLOSEST enemy, rather than targeting with the goal of causing the most damage. If these tanks were landing their shots on the second marine back, they'd be wrecking significantly more havoc than they already are. Would that be OP? Maybe. But just an interesting thought and something perhaps one of those enhanced AI could factor into their micro.
I always use marines in bunkers and siege tanks at the back in case some zerg unit try to put it out. marines gives protections while siege tanks give firepower for defenses.

If you force move the Marines closer they can all shoot. They would win harder. If the tanks didn't focus on the front line the splash damage would be greater. Hitting the front line only splashes one half the direction of the battle line
Well considering 20 tanks is possible in a match and 1k marines isnt... even though the marines needed about all of those 1k to win 😂
Now pop a couple science vessels or something to give those tanks their full vision range

this really shows just how important stepping forward and ensuring as many units as possible are in range. this fight would have been over significantly faster and at much less of loss of Marines. if you are going to commit to this attack, *do this.*

I think the results may have been different if the tanks were in a ball rather than a line.
Shoulda made the marines walk into melee range, instead of standing at max getting chunked by the AoE. Then the tanks wouldn't have been able to fire, or get killed by friendly fire from the tanks farther up the line.

How can you do this in game? Is there a sc2 sandbox?
You should demo this with army that almost same cost(with reasonable time play)...the results of that is much useful to player who watched your video...
