Anyone with at least plat level micro should be able to take out those tanks with probably less than 200 marines with decent pre-splits and a bit of stutter-stepping. The cost would go way down.

Watching these videos has really made me realize how inefficient the siege tank AI is. The tanks always target the CLOSEST enemy, rather than targeting with the goal of causing the most damage. If these tanks were landing their shots on the second marine back, they'd be wrecking significantly more havoc than they already are. Would that be OP? Maybe. But just an interesting thought and something perhaps one of those enhanced AI could factor into their micro.
I think it doesn't matter if the tanks won that or not. The cost and supply difference between the two is staggeringly wide that it shows how cost efficient tanks are against clumped up infantry.
When it’s 0/0 marines with no stim combat sure. You can show the same story with fully upgraded hellbats against 0/0 zerglings. Or 0/0/0 carriers against 3/3 thors. Upgrades are highly impactful for low damage high attack rate units.

this really shows just how important stepping forward and ensuring as many units as possible are in range. this fight would have been over significantly faster and at much less of loss of Marines. if you are going to commit to this attack, *do this.*

That was a slaughter and went exactly as expected even if the tanks lost. If there had been 5-10 more tanks, then they absolutely would've lost. I used tanks religiously in the original game but find that my (amateur) style in SC2 with Terran relies on Thors and Hellbats.
I said to myself at the begining. It wont be close, but it will be a absolute massacre. And then they formed the wall at max range rather than just rolling in on the tanks and i realised how much more of a massacre it was going to be than i ever thought.
If the marines sprinted and clustered around the tanks it would’ve been over much quicker and fewer casualties. The developers should’ve programmed tanks with machine guns for closer range and negated the friendly fire in siege mode but I guess that’d make them overpowered to a certain extent.
I always use marines in bunkers and siege tanks at the back in case some zerg unit try to put it out. marines gives protections while siege tanks give firepower for defenses.
Marines: Clustered together. Tanks: Stretched in a far line where multiple tanks arent firing until everything else is already dead. Yeaaah, fair comparison...

If you force move the Marines closer they can all shoot. They would win harder. If the tanks didn't focus on the front line the splash damage would be greater. Hitting the front line only splashes one half the direction of the battle line
