I've had two huskies. One ate a door and pulled up carpet, the other somehow managed to rip wallpaper off the wall. You can not leave them unattended when they're young. If they're not in sight and it seems awfully quiet in your house, chances are something's being destroyed.
I never had any problems w/ my husky Kronos as long as he had enough exercise. At his peak I’d have to take him for a 5 mile run 2 Xs a day w/ my bike & had to weigh him down w/ water bottles for the first couple so I could keep up. After he made me crash many times I got an attachment for my bike that made it MUCH safer. From my research the “Springer” on Amazon was the best.
They gave me medication for diarrhea. Within a month I used it up. That pup chewed on almost anything especially wallpaper. Lucky she was so cute. I bought her a ton of chew toys and she learned to chew them instead.

I would say a lot of that is true but every dog is different. My husky, Kronos, would be very quiet at home but if I left him in front of a store he would be whining and howling the whole time (usually only 5 min). Brushing: Kronos hated being brushed so I only did it for 5 minutes sometimes several times a day. Kronos would never poop near the house so if he had to go @ 3AM I’d have to take him for a 30 min walk. Going for his evening walk/ run just b4 I went to bed mostly solved this. Depending on their surroundings they can be very clean or not. Kronos’ previous owner often caught him rolling in manure but w/ me he was extremely clean, I never had to give him a bath in the 3 yrs I had him. Many huskies are aloof, Kronos especially so. His energy level was extreme at first when I got him. I had to take him on a 5 mile run w/ my bike twice daily & weigh him down w/ water bottles so I could keep up just to mellow him out a bit. Huskies do best if they have a job. If you don’t give them one they might pick one you don’t like. Luckily for me Kronos decided he was head of security at the dog park. He’d let other dogs know if they were too rough & broke up 5 fights b4 us humans could get there. Huskies are prone to cataracts & epilepsy & Kronos had both. His seizures kept getting worse, needing stronger meds, lowering his energy level & if did too much could cause a Grand Mal later that day, eventually killing him at the relatively young age of 7.5. Near the end he still LOVED to run but could only go for one mile 2Xs per wk in addition to his daily walks.

A question about the ‘one walk a day’. I had a soft-coated wheaten terrier, and the general advice that we got for her and all other dogs is that they need one long trip, an hour or so, every day and two short trips, 20-30 minutes, every day. We did that. How is a husky different? One walk a day seems like very little activity for such an active dog.
More active in general but it depends on the dog & breed. We had 2x husky-cross-Alsatian’s. Most incredible dogs we ever had but they had a fairly big garden to keep themselves entertained if we weren’t around.
Hi, I’m sway a 17 years old and I'm going to be a first time dog owner and I'm very interested in getting a husky despite the fact that everyone suggests a retriever for a first dog. I've done weeks of research so I think I've got a grip on all the drawbacks but I wanted to dig deeper into a few of behaviors them do. I’m also a athlete and Marching band member so time isn’t that great which diminish my chances of getting one. Do you have any advice to me that you think might help my situation?
In my opinion breed isn’t really that important, it’s more about the time and effort you put into training and socialising your puppy. You could have the best breed in the world on paper, but with no effort into training would create multiple problems. Get whatever dog you think suits you, and develop a training program to end up with the perfect dog 👍
Don’t get a dog if you don’t have the time they require - which is an awful lot! They get bored and depressed if you can’t give them enough exercise and attention. It wouldn’t be fair on the dog! Get a cat maybe?
I have had two husky baby girls and I can say all the facts are extremely accurate! 😅 but my new and current husky puppy is not super affectionate yet and I’m lot sure why 😢 kind of breaks my heart 💔 hopefully that will Change soon
I started crate training the girls as soon as they came home at 8 weeks. They had to learn that crying wouldn’t let them out of the crate…so sometimes they’d cry for a while and then get tired of it. A trick that I used was tiring them out both physically and mentally (doing some training) first, before trying to crate train.
CLASSICAL MUSIC was amazing at calming our fiesty pup to sleep🎼 It was a rough few days at first, but she finally got it. Fours hours worth of dog walks, dog parks, playtime with the neighbor, playtime with us and playtime with toys also wore her down!! 😄

Also one thing not mentioned is the fact they will terrorize any living creature that will dare to enter your yard. My husky is a good hunter lives up to his name and will go after any mouse or rat he sees and will spend lots of time stalking it if he doesnt kill it first in our backyard.
Is there an age when they start shedding or something because I keep seeing this, but my boy is 3 months and we have yet to really clean any hair, ive even hugged on him with black shirts and the transfer was really minimal.
The crate thing is so stupid, if you life is not suited to that breed or your time, then dont just fucking get them and but them in chages when you leave the home, so they won't eat your home. YOU CAN NOT PUT FOR 8 HOURS YOUR DOG TO A CHAGE AN LEAVE, ESPECIALLY HUSKIES. NEXT LEVEL OF STUPITY OF HUMAN KIND. WANNA FIT AND HAVE EVERYTHING THEY WANT NO MATTER THE COST.
If your dog is destroying your house, it's because his needs are not being fulfilled, they surely need more physical activity. So people please, if you know you won't have enough time to do activities with your dog, do not get one, specially not a husky, they are very demanding. And they are not "prone to escape" or "born house destroyers", those are myths, they just need to be active so they do not mess things up around your house.

These poor huskies. They're bred for cold climates and people have them in hot climates. No wonder they shed so much. They're probably burning up. They're also working dogs so they are bored staying indoors all day with nothing to do.
What are your dogs named Mia? I’m sorry a little bit. I don’t wanna like ruin your feelings but it’s not a whole name. It’s a person name you want to know what I knew. My name is Mia but you can put this on your dog.
Trust me. Having a husky crate trained is a 💯 must! Even if they are trained years down the road they could be left alone too long and destroy everything in your home. And by to long I mean 4/5 hours (for a adult dog) It has happened to me a couple times with my huskies. Luckily I crate trained them so they only damaged the crate and did not hurt themselves or destroy any property or escape. It’s safe for them and safe for others.
Crating is good if done correctly. It serves a lot of benefits. Plus they start to see it as their safe space if they get scared. My husky loves his cage. Its next to my computer desk and he has a nice bed in it and just lays there and watches me game.
To put any dog in a crate/ kennel/ cage/prison is cruel and unnecessary. But a Siberian Husky?? in a cage?. Why?. To punish?,because you don’t know what to do with him? This animal needs freedom, and exercise, not punishing confinement. Crates are for transporting the dog. If you want to limit his living space in the house, cordon off the kitchen/dinette area with a baby gate. That way they will be contained without a sense of confinement. If that system does not work for a Husky, then train him, don’t stick him in a cage. Maybe you should get a Bassett Hound, or Greyhound, or some other ‘couch potato’ breed. It’s so easy to dump them in a crate. This is awful.
Hi Sonja, our dog trainer was helping us with crate training, but now they are barely in there. Unfortunately this video doesn’t show the rest of the hours of the day when they’re out and roaming around. Appreciate your concern, but they’re doing well 👌
@@sontonthewonton2185 Crate training is good. No one knows what they are talking about. Huskies just take a lil more time getting used to it and are loud complainers. My husky loves his cage now, but I always leave the door open since he is grown.

Listen not everyone lives with roommates or family members that can watch their dog when they leave. Constantly Paying for a dog sitter is expensive. A kennel is necessary

My family is getting one in 2 weeks
Ohhh so exciting! Congrats! Huskies are definitely a lot of work given their natural stubborn character, but tons of fun and the best cuddlers.
I am seriously NOT a fan of locking dogs away in a cage. She’s biting because she’s very unhappy. Why do that at all unless absolutely necessary?
Are they siblings?
Yes, they’re sisters from the same litter!
WANNA FIT AND HAVE EVERYTHING THEY WANT NO MATTER THE COST.
what brand and size is the crate?
It’s the Top Paw crate from Petsmart in their largest size!
How old is your dog in this video?
She would’ve been around 3 months at this time!
@@sontonthewonton2185 Thank you! What age husky would you recommend getting it you want it that size but older would 5 months be good?
@@mattbeale4074 I think getting the pup when they’re ready to be away from the mom is a good idea because you get to instill discipline and structure early on!
@@sontonthewonton2185 thank you! I’ve got work so I don’t think I’ll be able to get a puppy as I can’t leave it home along for long? What age would you recommend to leave home alone ?
@@mattbeale4074 I’m not a husky expert but they require a lot of exercise...if they’re left home and get bored they’ll find things to play with. Puppies shouldn’t be left alone more than 2-3 hrs when they’re young!
I've never understood the whole locking dogs in cages thing, seems a bit cruel and unnecessary. Also seems to be a US thing, never seen anyone do that in my country
I don't think I could get them!! They would drive me insane!! Like literally my blood pressure was shooting up with the amount of noise they are making just with this video!!
I want a calmer dog. But my bf really REALLY wants a husky!! Like it is his absolute favourite dog in the world.
And I don't want to rob him of that happiness. But I just can't with these.
I don't know what to do. 😣😣😖😩😩
They’re a great breed, but need lots of exercise and work. Maybe find another breed you can compromise on?
@@sontonthewonton2185 yeah. Thank you.
Locking dogs in cages except for transport is awful.
Teething .
They love to chew! 😅
I love u girl♥️♥️♥️♥️
😮
These poor huskies. They're bred for cold climates and people have them in hot climates. No wonder they shed so much. They're probably burning up. They're also working dogs so they are bored staying indoors all day with nothing to do.
What are your dogs named Mia? I’m sorry a little bit. I don’t wanna like ruin your feelings but it’s not a whole name. It’s a person name you want to know what I knew. My name is Mia but you can put this on your dog.
looks terrible to lock up the puppy in the cage. But the puppy is cool doesn't accept it and trying to get out.
Huskys are working Dogs, they need Work! They get fast bored.
You’re right! Good thing they’re always working when they’re outside…but of course they’ll hear “free” once in a while 😉
But i could not
Having a Husky in a cage is a crime
My life 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
I got a husky for the first time and when ever I would lock her out of the kitchen she would pee or poo.
Husky’s are known for a big attitude! 😅
Good rinku wars o eer⁶
I wouldn't want a puppy I'd rather get an adult
Please don't put your dog in a cage...
Sometimes it's a training method. Good to do it while they're puppies
No PUT you dog in a cage crate training one of the most important thing if not the most important when you own a dog
Be quite
Hey Sonja, do you recommend taking my wall moldings off and moving all my furniture into a storage unit whenever I need to leave my puppy alone so that she can have freedom and stay safe?? Would you like to help me with that?
Lol you're clearly stupid and I didn't even have to read more than one sentence to know that, so shut up
Listen not everyone lives with roommates or family members that can watch their dog when they leave. Constantly Paying for a dog sitter is expensive. A kennel is necessary
