Honda Shadow Stator Rectifier Repair

What’s up everyone! I hope you all are doing well and I welcome you to this video where I replace a stator and voltage regulator/rectifier on my friends 1999 Honda Shadow 1100. I am no certified or licensed motorcycle mechanic so I just do what I know and work out of my shed. Hi. Great explanation about this motorcycle problem. I have a Shadow Spirit 1100cc 1997 and do not start. I r3chargw the battery and lights and horn works good. But, when I try to start it, I only hear an small click inside the seat, but the starter do not work. I don't know if maybe is the starter, sellenoid or rectificator... but, watching your video, I think the third option is the most like. Thanks for your informarion.

you have power but maybe not enough. Try jumping the bike, and if you can, this video was for you. Check you battery, regulator and stator. One is bad

Followed the video now bike doesn’t get power/turnover at all. Any ideas?

So did you ever figure out if those gears needed to needed to be timed? I’m at a about to do the same job on my 99 shadow spirit

I couldn’t find any info about the gears being timed, but I just slapped it on how I saw fit and I didn’t have any issues when it started and ran

for the life of me i can't get the stator cover off it's so frustrating any tips?

Hi Ereq,
I have a 1999 honda shadow aero 1100c3... I was riding it and the light started blinking and misfiring like if I was running out of gas, the syntoms got worst until I got to a light and everything die... The bike had no power on the dash, no lights, nothing; however, if I jump it, everything works good, starts and runs good, but as soon I desconnect the jumper wires the bike start misfiring and running very rugh... I wonder if I having issues with the regulator/rectifier?
Any sugestions?

Hey Aldo that’s a great question you have! Sounds like it can be a few reasons, but it involves inspecting several parts. Since it sounds like an electrical issue, it may be that you have insufficient power going to your distributor - spark plugs. However this is just a possibility, it may or may not be, but inspecting wires and electrical components such as this video and your battery connections as well as testing how much power (if any) is being distributed in several locations to see where and how much electricity is being circulated can better diagnose your issue(s). I hope I was able to help you out some and I really hope all works well for you. Feel free to give an update on what happened so we can all learn from it!
